Background / History

Rin is the last remaining member of the declining Tohsaka family in Fuyuki, aside from Sakura, who was adopted into the Matou family. Kirei Kotomine later admits that he caused the deaths of Rin's parents, Tokiomi and Aoi, ten years earlier. 1 59

Yu Feng becomes her classmate and lives at the Tohsaka Estate after discovering some of her secrets. Although Rin frames his residence as compensation for food and lodging, their everyday dynamic quickly becomes one of bickering, mutual reliance, and unspoken affection. 1 13
