Background / History
Sikong Ye comes from Northern Wei but initially conceals his origins while traveling through Great Yan. He has battlefield experience and has killed dozens, possibly hundreds, of people before accompanying Jun Jingyi. Despite this experience, the number of recent civilian deaths outside prosperous Tianfu City disturbs him 21 35.
After arriving in Great Yan, he is ambushed and gravely wounded. Jun Jingyi discovers him bleeding in an alley, carries him to the Jun residence, and quietly arranges medical treatment. Bai Ruoli recognizes Sikong Ye as an exceptionally skilled wanderer whom the Eighth Prince rescued in her previous life; Jun Jingyi’s intervention therefore departs from the events she remembers 9 10 36.
Sikong Ye later admits that he is from Northern Wei but refuses to disclose his full identity, saying that doing so would not benefit Jun Jingyi. Jun connects his surname to Northern Wei’s imperial clan and suggests that he may be the escaped child of Sikong Baixing, a border general whose family was executed for treason five years earlier. Sikong Ye neither confirms nor denies the connection and insists that Northern Wei has nothing to do with him 35.
Appearance
- Hair and face: Long hair and a tough-looking face; his hair is disheveled when Jun Jingyi first brings him home 10.
- Clothing: Initially wears blue clothes soaked so thoroughly in blood that they appear black. Later appearances describe him in black clothing 10 16.
- Covert attire: Wears black night clothes while delivering the Dragon-Slaying Precious Saber to the Li Family’s gates 38.
Personality
Sikong Ye is quick to confront injustice. He attacks servants beating a defenseless woman and is furious when he learns how the Li Family’s second son destroyed ordinary families. He wants to kill the culprit immediately but restrains himself because he does not want to implicate Jun Jingyi. His concern for the poor also becomes more personal: he admits that he once would have ignored a beggar’s death, but knowing and helping the man makes the loss painful 18 19.
His compassion does not prevent him from accepting lethal retaliation. He comes to support the destruction of the Li Family after considering its victims, captures its surviving patriarch, and later reports that the remaining business has been dealt with. He also accepts the possibility that Jun Jingyi intends to rebel, having lost sympathy for Great Yan’s authorities and imperial family 36 37 39 40.
Away from violence, he is teasing, food-loving, and increasingly comfortable around Jun Jingyi. He mocks Jun’s vanity and excessive profits, guards his osmanthus cakes against imagined confiscation, and repeatedly marvels at his inventions and poetry. By the mooncake campaign, he has earned enough through helping Jun to consider himself modestly wealthy—a change Jun jokingly regards as the loss of his formerly innocent helper 16 27 28 38 49.

- His network remains insufficient for Jun Jingyi’s wider ambitions, prompting plans for a separate restaurant-based intelligence organization 50.
Martial Knowledge and Physical Conditioning
- Gives Jun Jingyi advice on exercise and medicinal support, explaining that continued effort can make his weak body stronger than an ordinary person’s without guaranteeing martial attainment 16.
- Describes the jianghu in terms of territorial wars, treasure disputes, revenge, and clan extermination rather than romantic chivalry 28.
- Knows details about the weapons of Great Yan’s founding ruler and recognizes weapon quality through handling and testing 35 36.
- Draws on battlefield experience to judge that the bodies at the mass grave have been dead for no more than three days 21.

- Is sent to purchase the Four Seas Inn as part of Jun Jingyi’s retaliation against two Upright Heart School disciples 43.

- Transparent crystal — Brings the crystal Jun Jingyi uses with bronze mirrors to manufacture the supposed heavenly omen 41.
Relationships
- Jun Jingyi — Rescuer, host, employer, and close companion. Sikong Ye provides protection and carries out intelligence, commercial, and covert assignments. He chooses to remain with Jun even after concluding that his preparations resemble rebellion 9 30 36 49.
- Sikong Baixing — Possible family connection. Jun Jingyi suspects Sikong Ye is the child who escaped the execution of the general’s household; Sikong Ye leaves the suggestion unanswered 35.
- Bai Ruoli — Recognizes him from her previous life. His rescue by Jun Jingyi, rather than the Eighth Prince, contributes to her suspicion that Jun may also have been reborn 9.
- Eighth Prince — His rescuer in Bai Ruoli’s previous life, but a source of anger in the present timeline. Sikong Ye rejects the prince’s settlement protecting the Li Family’s second son 9 24.
- Beggar Sect members — Organizes their recruitment and handles reports concerning them. The torture and death of one member lead to retaliation against the responsible disciples 30 43.

- Remains beside Jun Jingyi as Jun plans restaurant expansion across the three kingdoms and turns his attention toward strengthening his military power 50.
