After the Equilibrium Sect refused them access and Varus’s identity was exposed, He Xi and Kaisha forced their way into the sealing chamber, where Lan Hong noticed a rat had followed them.

• Lan Hong burned Rhaast until the Darkin and his scythe vanished, while Kayn regretted losing the power.
• Kael apologized to Lan Hong and agreed to travel with the group to help eliminate the remaining Darkin.

• Yun Ana reunited with Ya Heng, who planned to return to Shurima, and the Equilibrium Sect let Lan Hong’s group leave.
• Nasus, Ya Heng, and Varus departed for Shurima, while Lan Hong’s companions and Zhao Xin headed to Demacia to check on Sylas.

• Katarina attacked Jarvan III, but Zhao Xin blocked her dagger and drove her off; Jarvan III stopped Zhao Xin from pursuing her.

Jarvan III dissolved Demacia’s Demon-Hunting Squad and appointed Lux commander of a new Magic Legion, while Morgana chose to remain and guide Demacia. Lan Hong and the others traveled north to meet the demigods and found Volibear, who attacked them and was beaten into speaking with them.

Lan Hong, Kaisha, and He Xi subdued Volibear, learned about Anivia and the Freljord demigods, and got Ornn’s location from him. They found Ornn at his forge, where he welcomed them with hot water.

• Volibear enlarged himself and attacked He Xi, but she wounded him, knocked him back to his original size, and forced him to speak calmly.
• Volibear introduced himself as the incarnation of thunder and explained that Anivia repeatedly sacrificed herself to protect Freljord’s humans, while Ornn represented flame and forge.
• Volibear gave Lan Hong and the others Ornn’s location, then returned to his lair to sleep after they let him go.
• Lan Hong said he might be able to help Anivia recover if they found the Phoenix Egg she had become.

• Lan Hong and his companions agreed to help Freljord in a crisis before leaving Ornn’s Forge Homeland to search for Anivia’s egg.
• They found Anivia’s enormous egg in the Icefield Rift, and Lan Hong poured energy into it until the shell broke and Anivia emerged.
• Anivia introduced herself as Freljord’s guardian and said she protected humans because she found them small and adorable.
• Anivia explained that she created True Ice as a powerful, unmeltable weapon and gave the group a piece to examine.

After Anivia left to check on Freljord’s human tribes, Lan Hong, He Xi, and Kaisha traveled to the Howling Abyss to inspect the Void Watchers sealed in True Ice. They discovered the ice was turning black from Void corruption, and Lissandra agreed to meet them there.
