Chapter Summaries

Jiang He and Rei Saotome faced Yuto and Shay Obsidian in a tag Shadow Duel after learning that Lulu had been kidnapped to force them to obtain [Super Polymerization]. The duel began with Yuto using [Graceful Charity] and summoning [The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves].

• Shay mistook Celina for his sister Lulu, and Yuto explained that Lulu had been sealed in a card and taken by the person demanding [Super Polymerization].
• Jiang He refused to hand over the spell card and warned that the kidnappers would not keep their promise, but Yuto and Shay insisted on dueling to save Lulu.
• Chazz, Jack, Jaden, Yusei, Yuma, and others offered to join Jiang He, but he chose Rei Saotome as his tag duel partner.
• Jiang He, Rei, Yuto, and Shay agreed that the duel's Shadow Duel ritual would determine the price paid by the losing side, then began with 4000 life points each.
• Yuto took the first turn, activated [Graceful Charity], drew three cards, sent two cards to the graveyard, and summoned [The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves] in Defense Position.

Yuto Xyz Summoned The Phantom Knights of Break Sword and ended his turn with two set cards. Rei Saotome summoned Maiden in Love and set four cards, then Shay Obsidian began his turn with a Raidraptor summon and activated another Raidraptor effect.

• Yuto Special Summoned The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots alongside The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves.
• Yuto overlaid both Level 3 monsters to Xyz Summon The Phantom Knights of Break Sword, then set two cards and ended his turn.
• Rei Saotome summoned Maiden in Love, set four cards, and ended her turn.
• Shay Obsidian summoned Raidraptor - Fuzzy Lanius, surprising the onlookers who recognized the series from Jiang He's deck.
• Shay Obsidian activated the hand effect of Raidraptor - Pain Lanius.

Shay Obsidian deliberately took damage to summon three level 4 Raidraptor monsters, then Xyz Summoned Raidraptor - Rise Falcon and set three cards. Jiang He began his turn by summoning Alien Mars.

Jiang He used his Alien monsters to cover Yuto and Shay Obsidian’s monsters in A Counters, repeatedly marking them in an insulting way before Xyz Summoning Chronomaly Crystal Alien. Its appearance suggested a connection between the Alien monsters and Astral’s Chronomaly cards.

• Jiang He Special Summoned Alien Dog and used its effect to place two A Counters on Yuto’s The Phantom Knights of Break Sword, amusing the spectators and angering Yuto.
• Jiang He removed those counters to Special Summon Alien Overlord, whose effect placed A Counters on Yuto’s and Shay Obsidian’s monsters.
• Jiang He overlaid Alien Mars and Alien Dog to Xyz Summon Chronomaly Crystal Alien.
• Rei Saotome, Jaden Yuki, Chazz Princeton, Yuma Tsukumo, and the others recognized Chronomaly Crystal Alien as belonging to the same series as Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech, which Astral had recovered.

Jiang He replenished his hand with Card of Sanctity and ended his turn behind a formidable set of face-down cards. Yuto boosted Rise Falcon and attacked Rei Saotome’s Maiden in Love, but Rei redirected the attack toward Jiang He’s Chronomaly Crystal Alien.

• Jiang He activated Card of Sanctity, letting both sides draw until they had six cards, then set three more cards and ended his turn.
• Yuto changed Shay Obsidian’s Rise Falcon to attack position and used its effect to raise its attack by 4,300.
• Rei Saotome activated Mirror Wall to halve the attack of the opponents’ attack-position monsters.
• Yuto used Phantom Death Spear from his Graveyard to negate and destroy Mirror Wall, dealing 100 damage that Jiang He’s shield prevented from becoming real damage.

Jiang He used Mass Hypnosis to take control of Yuto and Shay Obsidian’s two monsters, but Yuto destroyed Break Sword to trigger its Graveyard effect. Yuto revived its Xyz Materials, leaving him with two Level 4 Phantom Knights on the field.

• Rei Saotome redirected Rise Falcon’s attack toward Jiang He’s Chronomaly Crystal Alien with Stronghold the Hidden Fortress.
• Jiang He activated Crystal Alien’s battle effect, but Yuto negated it with Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade.
• Jiang He revealed Mass Hypnosis and took control of Shay’s Rise Falcon and Yuto’s Break Sword using their A Counters.
• Yuto activated Offerings to the Doomed to destroy Break Sword, sending it to his Graveyard.

Yuto used Wonder Xyz to summon Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon during the Battle Phase, then attacked Jiang He and Rei Saotome’s field before ending his turn. Jiang He sacrificed the stolen Raidraptor - Rise Falcon with Mystik Wok to restore their Life Points, leaving Shay and Yuto furious.

She activated a second Creature Swap and offered the dragon back, leaving Yuto and Shay to choose which monster to exchange.

• Rei Saotome activated Creature Swap and exchanged Maiden in Love for Yuto’s Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon.
• Rei ordered Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to attack Maiden in Love, but Shay Obsidian used Raidraptor - Readiness to prevent damage.
• Rei used Maiden in Love’s effect to place a counter on Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon after it survived the battle.
• Rei used Jiang He’s Alien Overlord to attack Maiden in Love, but Yuto negated the attack with The Phantom Knights of Magnetic Ring and Special Summoned it as a monster.

Rei used Creature Swap to return Maiden in Love, then equipped her with cards meant to steal Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. Shay’s Magnetic Ring absorbed the Equip Spells, and he began summoning Raidraptor monsters, leaving the duel in the middle of his turn.

• Yuto chose to return Maiden in Love to Rei’s field with Rei’s second Creature Swap.
• Rei equipped Maiden in Love with Cupid’s Kiss and Happy Marriage, then set a card and ended her turn.
• Shay used The Phantom Knights of Magnetic Ring to absorb both Equip Spells from Maiden in Love.
• Shay Special Summoned Raidraptor - Singing Lanius because Yuto controlled Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon.
• Shay Normal Summoned Raidraptor - King Strix in attack position.

Shay and Yuto filled their field with monsters and used Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to weaken Jiang He's Alien Overlord before attacking. Jiang He revealed A Cell Scatter Burst, destroying Alien Overlord and preparing to place A Counters on all six opposing monsters.

• Shay used Raidraptor - King Strix to Special Summon Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius, which brought out Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius.
• Shay activated Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon's effect twice, reducing Alien Overlord's ATK from 2,200 to 550 and raising the dragon's ATK to 4,150.
• Shay ordered Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to attack Alien Overlord.
• Jiang He revealed the Quick-Play Spell A Cell Scatter Burst and declared that he would destroy Alien Overlord as its cost.

Jiang He and Rei Saotome weathered Shay Obsidian and Yuto’s attacks, using Rei’s [Draining Shield] and [Maiden in Love]’s effects to preserve their Life Points and mark opposing monsters. Shay then revealed [Wonder Xyz] and began an Xyz Summon, leaving the duel poised for [Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon] to appear.

• Jiang He’s [Alien Overlord] split into six energy dogs that marked Shay Obsidian and Yuto’s monsters with “A” counters before vanishing.
• Shay redirected [Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon]’s attack toward [Maiden in Love], but Rei activated [Draining Shield], negating the attack and raising their shared Life Points to 12050.
• [Raidraptor - King Strix], [Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius], and [Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius] attacked [Maiden in Love], whose effects prevented her from being destroyed and placed a Maiden counter on [Raidraptor - King Strix].
• The attacks reduced Jiang He and Rei’s shared Life Points to 9850, while the onlookers assumed Shay’s remaining monsters could not threaten them.
• Shay activated [Wonder Xyz] and overlaid [Raidraptor - Singing Lanius] and [Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius] to Xyz Summon [Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon].

Shay and Yuto used trap and Quick-Play Spell effects to summon powerful Xyz monsters and sharply reduce Jiang He and Rei Saotome's shared Life Points. Shay ended his turn with their Life Points at 2650 and a new face-down card on his field.

• Shay used a trap to Xyz Summon Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon during the Battle Phase, then raised its attack to 4000 with its effect.
• Shay attacked Rei Saotome's Maiden in Love with Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon, reducing Jiang He and Rei Saotome's shared Life Points from 9850 to 6250.
• Yuto activated Rank-Up-Magic: The Phantom Knights' Burial to revive The Phantom Knights of Break Sword and summon Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon.
• Shay directed Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon to attack Maiden in Love, reducing Jiang He and Rei Saotome's shared Life Points to 2650.
• Shay set another card and ended his turn.

Jiang He weakened Shay Obsidian and Yuto’s monsters with Alien counters, then Tributed his newly summoned Chronomaly Crystal Alien to recover Life Points and set up another Xyz Summon. He used Xyz Tribalrivals to revive two Chronomaly Crystal Aliens and summon FNO... Utopia Future.

• Jiang He summoned Alien Mars and Alien Dog, whose effect placed two A counters on Shay Obsidian’s Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon.
• Alien Mars negated the effects of monsters with A counters, dropping Blaze Falcon and Yuto’s Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon back to their original ATK.
• Jiang He used Alien Mars and Alien Dog to Xyz Summon a second Chronomaly Crystal Alien.
• Jiang He activated Mystik Wok, Tributed the new Chronomaly Crystal Alien, and raised the shared Life Points with Rei Saotome from 2650 to 4750.

Jiang He summoned the new Rank 0 Xyz monster FNO... Utopia Future and used Future Drive to let it attack every monster on Shay Obsidian and Yuto’s field. After Shay negated its first attack and upgraded Blaze Falcon into Stranger Falcon, Jiang He sent Utopia Future to attack Stranger Falcon again, leaving its effect unresolved.

• Jiang He used the two Chronomaly Crystal Aliens to summon FNO... Utopia Future, astonishing Yuma Tsukumo, Astral, Yuto, and Shay Obsidian.
• Jiang He ordered Utopia Future to attack Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon, but Shay activated Rank-Up-Magic Escape Force to negate the attack and summon Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon.
• Jiang He activated Future Drive, allowing Utopia Future to attack each monster on the opponents’ field once and negating the effects of monsters it attacked.
• Jiang He continued the Battle Phase and sent Utopia Future to attack Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon.

Jiang He used FNO... Utopia Future to take control of every monster Yuto and Shay Obsidian controlled, while Rei Saotome boosted The Phantom Knights of Magnetic Ring to 9,600 attack. The stolen monsters began attacking their former owners, and Yuto sacrificed a revived Raidraptor - Rise Falcon to stop the first direct attack before Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon attacked.

• Jiang He used FNO... Utopia Future's effect to take Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon from Shay Obsidian.
• Jiang He had FNO... Utopia Future attack the remaining monsters, taking them all and leaving Yuto and Shay Obsidian's field empty.
• Rei Saotome activated Happy Marriage to raise The Phantom Knights of Magnetic Ring's attack to 9,600 using the attack of the monsters Jiang He had taken.
• Jiang He ordered Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to attack directly, and Yuto used Xyz Reborn to revive Raidraptor - Rise Falcon from Shay's Graveyard as a shield.
• Jiang He launched a direct attack with Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon.

Jiang He defeated Yuto and Shay in a Shadow Duel after Yuto, under Supreme King Z-ARC’s other personality, repeatedly tried to block his attacks. Z-ARC’s shadow threatened revenge before vanishing, and the chapter ended with the others asking Jiang He what he would do with the two Sealing Cards.

• Yuto revived Shay’s [Raidraptor - Rise Falcon] with [Back to the Front], but Jiang He’s attack destroyed it again.
• Jiang He ordered [The Phantom Knights of Magnetic Ring] to attack directly, and Yuto used [The Phantom Knights of Shadow Veil] from his graveyard to block it.
• Jiang He sent [Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon], [Raidraptor - King Strix], and [Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius] into direct attacks, knocking Yuto and Shay unconscious.
• A shadow of Supreme King Z-ARC emerged from Yuto, threatened Jiang He, and vanished after learning Jiang He had already defeated one of its reincarnations.
• Yuto and Shay were sealed into cards, and their Duel Disks and decks fell into Jiang He’s hands.
• Alexis Rhodes, Akiza Izinski, Rio Kastle, and the others celebrated the victory, then asked Jiang He what he planned to do with the Sealing Cards.

After Yuto and Shay Obsidian failed to obtain Super Polymerization, Jiang He destroyed the monitors in their Duel Disks and considered how he might use them later. Leo Akaba kept Lulu Obsidian captive and prepared to pursue the card through other targets, while Jiang He noticed the Tyler Sisters spying on his group and chose not to confront them yet.

• Jiang He decided to wait for Yuto and Shay to wake before deciding their fate, then destroyed the monitors hidden in their Duel Disks.
• Leo Akaba reviewed Lulu Obsidian’s captivity and planned to use two other people to obtain Super Polymerization.
• Jiang He attended Leo Akaba’s Pendulum Summoning lecture and noticed Celina watching him with unusual interest.
• Jiang He checked his Emotion Points and saw that they had risen to 190,000, apparently from Yuto and Shay.
• Rio Kastle and the others sensed someone spying on them during lunch, and Jiang He identified the watchers as Gloria and Grace, the Tyler Sisters.
• Camula offered to capture the Tyler Sisters, but Jiang He told her to leave them alone for now.

Jiang He tormented the Tyler Sisters at lunch, then released Yuto and Shay Obsidian from their Sealing Cards after they agreed to work for him. He revealed that Professor Leo Akaba had likely kidnapped Shay’s sister Lulu to use her as part of a plan to revive his daughter, and Shay asked what they should do next.

• Jiang He used [Mystical Space Typhoon] to waft the rooftop lunch’s aromas toward Gloria and Grace as they ate salted rice balls nearby.
• Alexis, Akiza, and the others left with Celina to fetch medicine and gauze, giving the Tyler Sisters a chance to follow and find food.
• Jiang He took out the Sealing Cards containing Yuto and Shay, who pleaded to be released so they could rescue people.
• Yuto and Shay offered to work for Jiang He in exchange for their freedom, and Jiang He released them.
• Jiang He explained that Professor Leo Akaba had likely kidnapped Lulu and intended to use her as one of the fragments needed to revive Ray Akaba.
• Shay vowed to protect Lulu and asked Jiang He what he wanted them to do.

Yuya Sakaki and the tiny You Show Duel School arrived at Duel Academy, where Yuya was introduced as the creator of Pendulum Summoning. His arrival revealed another of Z-ARC’s reincarnations and another of Ray Akaba’s, while Leo Akaba took a keen interest in the pink-haired girl.

• Jiang He proposed that Yuto and Shay Obsidian join the Lancers and help protect Heartland City from Leo Akaba’s forces, and they agreed.
• Alexis Rhodes told Jiang He that Yuya Sakaki, the creator of Pendulum Summoning, had come to challenge Duel Academy with You Show Duel School.
• At the arena, Jiang He noticed the hostile Tyler Sisters, while Celina and the others recognized that Yuya and his pink-haired companion resembled other reincarnations of Z-ARC and Ray Akaba.
• Vice Chancellor Bonaparte and Professor Crowler introduced Shuzo Hiiragi, Yuya Sakaki, and their companions to the assembled students.
• Bastion Misawa speculated that Yuya inherited Pendulum power from Z-ARC, and Yuya awkwardly greeted the crowd as Pendulum Summoning’s founder.

Yuya Sakaki challenged Duel Academy’s top-ranked student, Jiang He, to raise publicity and secure funds for You Show Duel School. After agreeing to Jiang He’s wager, Yuya began their duel and set his Pendulum Scales.

• Yuya Sakaki asked to challenge Duel Academy’s top-ranked student, and Jiang He accepted.
• Jiang He offered funds to keep You Show Duel School open if Yuya won, with an IOU as the wager if they lost.
• Yuya, Shuzo Hiiragi, Yuzu Hiiragi and Gongenzaka Noboru agreed to the wager, and Crowler started the duel as referee.
• Yuya took the first turn, activated Pendulum Box and drew two Pendulum Monsters.
