By the shore of a rippling lake.
Willows swayed in myriad strands, and Heaven and Earth were auspicious, peaceful, and serene.
Chen Xun and Ke Ding were warming tea, discussing the Dao, and fishing. The clarity in their eyes had long vanished, replaced by an Eternal Vicissitude that Immortal Realm Beings could not see through.
"Looks like quite a few titans of the Immortal Dao and demonic path in the Six Harmonies Immortal Territory came from here. Heh, the cradle of the Great Dao in the Six Harmonies Immortal Territory." Chen Xun smiled faintly as he looked toward the far reaches of the lake. "I once heard that the Great Dao Alliance wished to make a move against this pavilion."
"The ancient history of this Immortal Domain is exceptionally interesting." Ke Ding leisurely fiddled with his fishing rod. "But I know nothing of this Great Dao Alliance, nor have I heard of it. It seems they wanted to place the Immortal Dao above all else?"
"Mm." Chen Xun nodded lightly. "After the orthodoxy of the Four Extremes Immortal Soil moved in, the matter fizzled out without result. But the Immortal Dao should, in the end, be all the more resplendent. There is no need for one Great Dao to reign supreme."
His words drifted languidly, carrying deep melancholy. Then, his tone abruptly shifted. "Ke Ding, I know why you did not cross the Immortal Devil Gate. That is why I called you here to fish these past days."
Ke Ding lowered his gaze, then turned his head to look deeply at Chen Xun. "You should know that, that year, I did not agree with Ji Yan fighting to the death. I was even unwilling for you to be dragged into the whirlpool of the Tai Yi Immortal Court."
