"Moo!" Big Black Ox got to its feet, looking tense. It clung to Chen Xun's back, its two hooves gripping his shoulders tightly.
They steadily stepped onto the immortal sword, faint beads of sweat appearing on their foreheads. Veins bulged on Chen Xun's forehead as he raised two fingers together and roared:
"Take off!"
"Moo!!"
Whoosh!
A fierce gale surged up, and the immortal sword shot out with a howl, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
Bang! Bang! Two figures slammed heavily into the ground, each taking a mouthful of dirt and dust.
"Where's the immortal sword?! Where's my sword?!"
Chen Xun shouted in heartbreak, his pupils bloodshot as he spat out a mouthful of dirt.
"Moo!" Big Black Ox had been thrown so badly it was seeing stars. Then its bovine eyes suddenly spotted the immortal sword in the distance, embedded in a stone wall.
Not long after, Chen Xun and Big Black Ox finally retrieved the immortal sword.
"Old Ox, our spells have been enhanced, so they're a little different," Chen Xun said slowly after taking a deep breath.
"Moo~" Big Black Ox nodded. That was indeed the case. This immortal sword was simply too fast.
"No matter. We'll adapt slowly and practice slowly."
"Moo~"
Big Black Ox held the immortal sword in its mouth and headed straight into the waterfall, repeatedly tossing its head at Chen Xun.
"Old Ox, you're smart!" Chen Xun froze. The water could add quite a bit of resistance—perfect for practice.
"Let's get to it, let's get to it."
Another month passed. Chen Xun had completely mastered the knack of Sword Control Technique. It was another morning, in the same spot.
"Riding the wind upon my sword, carefree between Heaven and Earth!"
Chen Xun muttered the words, sending out a strand of spiritual power. The immortal sword slowly rose. He stepped onto it and said, "Old Ox, no time to explain—quick!"
"Moo moo~~" Big Black Ox got to its feet and leaped up, landing steadily on the immortal sword. It immediately lay flat behind Chen Xun, a trace of terror in its eyes.
"Take off for me!!"
"Moo~~~"
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A fierce gale swept past, and the immortal sword finally rose into the air. Boundless winds lashed Chen Xun's face as the ground grew farther and farther away, his heart nearly leaping into his throat.
Big Black Ox slowly opened its eyes. The scenery around them had changed completely. It slowly looked down, its pupils shrinking. "Moo~~!!"
"Old Ox, Old Ox! Fuck me."
Chen Xun was startled. This old ox had actually fainted! He hurriedly supported Big Black Ox with one hand and stopped the immortal sword in midair, his own eyes nearly unable to stay open.
He slowly turned towards Medicine Valley. They were already more than ten zhang above the ground, and rapid breaths came from his mouth.
Flying on his own sword was a completely different feeling from riding a flying boat. He felt hollow inside, always thinking he was about to fall.
Whooo! Whooo! Whooo!
The howling cold wind kept ringing in his ears. Big Black Ox woke up as well, its legs going weak when it looked at the ground. "Moo!"
"It's fine, Old Ox. The immortal sword is firmly stuck to our feet. Last time was just an accident."
Chen Xun consoled it. Big Black Ox only gripped him tighter, yet its eyes also shone with excitement. They had truly flown into the sky.
A small spiritual power barrier opened around them, and the howling wind vanished. It became much quieter around their ears.
"Old Ox, we'll get used to it slowly. No rushing this."
Chen Xun smiled and began flying on his sword again. This time, however, he moved much more slowly, becoming increasingly adept.
"Moo~" Big Black Ox also felt more and more comfortable, gradually growing less tense.
But Chen Xun frowned slightly. Having the spiritual power barrier up felt somewhat unsatisfying. There was none of that wind-riding sensation, and an idea could not help rising in his heart.
"Let's go!"
Chen Xun shouted again, continuously circling through the sky above the valley. "Woohoo!"
Chen Xun's shouts and Big Black Ox's endless miserable cries rang through the air. Yet it really was thrilling—Big Black Ox was suffering and happy at the same time.
After playing for Half an Hour, Chen Xun felt more and more unsatisfied. It seemed it was time to put his idea into practice.
"Old Ox, I'm going to get busy. I'll look for some materials while I'm at it!" Chen Xun said, carrying the Mountain-Splitting Axe as he walked into the cave dwelling.
"Moo~!" Big Black Ox was still lying like a corpse in the pool, unable to recover for a long while.
Another month later, an orange sun lay quietly between the ink-black mountain ranges in the distance. Clouds billowed and rosy mists blazed, setting the horizon aflame.
A burst of strange laughter came from the cave dwelling in Medicine Valley, along with repeated bizarre cries of, "I did it! I did it!"
"Moo moo~~"
Big Black Ox looked at the sky. It was time for Chen Xun's so-called "wind-riding" again. It kept calling at the entrance of the cave dwelling.
"Old Ox!"
Chen Xun slowly emerged from the darkness. Big Black Ox's eyes widened in shock. What kind of getup was this? Had Chen Xun forged some kind of magical artifact?
Chen Xun wore an enormous pair of Goggles and held another pair in his hand, gleaming under the Setting Sun.
"Moo? Moo?" Big Black Ox hurried over, asking what this was. Chen Xun's eyes looked huge.
"Old Ox, we have to feel nature, feel the true thrill of riding the wind! What the hell is the point of putting up a spiritual power barrier?"
Chen Xun laughed loudly and quickly put the other pair on Big Black Ox as well. These had been tailor-made for it.
"Moo?!" Big Black Ox shook its head from side to side and kept hopping about. What a magical feeling.
"With these, we won't have to worry about wind and sand getting into our eyes anymore. Haha!"
Chen Xun laughed smugly, then shouted, "Old Ox, let's ride the wind!"
"Moo moo!!" Big Black Ox grew excited. Its favorite activity now was riding the wind at sunset. That scenery was simply incredible.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
The immortal sword soared into the sky. An opening appeared in the restriction over Medicine Valley, and Chen Xun immediately climbed higher. Countless towering peaks filled his vision as he shouted at the heavens, "Air Force One, Chen Xun, ready!!!"
"Moo moo moo!!!"
Big Black Ox shouted along with him, lying behind Chen Xun in its Goggles. That feeling was freedom.
The fierce wind swept across their faces, yet it could no longer enter their eyes. At last, the feeling was right. This was true wind-riding.
They headed towards the setting sun, leaving countless ancient trees and towering peaks behind them. They could even see wild beasts running across the ground, endlessly chasing their prey.
A huge setting sun hung high in the sky. Disciples flew on swords throughout the lower airspace, but their speed was nowhere near theirs.
Maybe this was the difference between a Ferrari and an electric scooter, Chen Xun could not help thinking.
Ahead of them, a Little Junior Sister at the fifth level of Qi Refinement was flying on her sword, and her route happened to match theirs.
Whoosh!
The Little Junior Sister wore her hair in two long braids. Her expression changed in shock. Why was there a man and a... cow standing on an immortal sword beside her, looking at her? They even had some unknown things over their eyes.
"This Senior Brother..." the Little Junior Sister said timidly, but before she could finish, her mouth gradually fell open and her expression grew increasingly stunned.
The man and ox placed two fingers and a hoof against their foreheads, then lifted them towards her. Their mouths even twisted into crooked grins!!
Their immortal sword suddenly accelerated and flew towards the setting sun, vanishing in the blink of an eye with incomparable flair.
Fuck me...
The Little Junior Sister was dumbfounded. Even a cow was this dashing now? But that immortal sword was truly fast. She had no idea what grade of magical artifact it was.
Quite a few disciples looked on in shock. Such fast Sword Control Technique, such dashing attire!
The wild wind howled past. Big Black Ox grinned as it watched the sword-riding disciples far behind them. They were nothing but little brothers.
"Old Ox, see that? This is what cultivation is. This is what life is!"
"Moo moo!!" Big Black Ox nodded again and again, constantly admiring the scenery below and enjoying the thrill of riding the wind.
"Woohoo!!"
Joyful shouts echoed across the horizon, accompanied by wave after wave of mooing.
