"Damn Christopher. I let my guard down. Life had been peaceful for so long that I'd almost forgotten about the Fractsidus."

Kexi sat up, clutching his dizzy head.

No wonder the name Christopher had sounded so familiar.

He opened his eyes and raised a hand to shield them from the glaring light, taking in his unfamiliar surroundings.

Behind him stood a mountain that towered into the clouds, and all around him was overgrown forest.

"Where the hell did he send me?"

As he puzzled over it, two streaks of light descended from the sky, revealing two beautiful girls in traditional dress, each standing on a flying sword.

"Holy crap! Flying on swords! Did I transmigrate again?!"

While he was still reeling, one of the beauties put away her flying sword.

Then.

Faster than he could react.

She flashed over to him.

And threw herself into his arms.

All at once, his arms were full of fragrant softness.

Kexi was stunned.

He didn't know where to put his hands.

Before he could recover, he heard the person in his arms choking back sobs, sounding as though she was about to fall apart.

"Junior Brother, you... you scared us to death!"

Kexi was stunned again.

Junior Brother?

Had his soul transmigrated into someone else?

No way. No way, right?

The girl in his arms clung tightly to him, her tears soaking the front of his clothes.

Embarrassed, he gently tried to push her away. "Um, miss, calm down first. Have you mistaken me for someone else?"

The beautiful girl, her face covered in tears, jerked her head up and met his slightly awkward gaze, her eyes full of disbelief.

"Junior Brother, don't you recognize me? I'm your junior sister Yangyang!"

Kexi was shocked again. His mouth fell open wide enough to fit an egg.

"Huh???"

Before Kexi could come to his senses, he heard a crisp tap above his head.

"Smack."

A small fan struck him on the forehead, neither too hard nor too softly, with just the right amount of force.

Just enough to hurt, but not enough to actually knock him silly.

The beauty holding the fan bent down, bringing an almost absurdly exquisite face close to his. She looked at him with a beaming smile, three parts teasing, three parts curiosity, and four parts schadenfreude.

"Uh, um, may I ask who you are?" Kexi asked in confusion.

"Smack." The little fan tapped him again.

"I'm your fourth senior sister, Suisui."

"Huh????"

Kexi felt like his jaw might be dislocated by the end of the day.

He looked at the beauty in front of him, waving her little fan with a mischievous grin, then down at the girl in his arms who was still sobbing her heart out and refusing to let go-Yangyang,

She said her name was Yangyang, but she was a completely different person from the Yangyang she knew.

This Yangyang wore her hair in an ancient-style bun and was dressed in a traditional skirt, with a flying sword gleaming coldly beside her feet.

How was this the girl in the little blue hat he knew? She was clearly a sword immortal straight out of a xianxia novel.

When had she evolved?

"Oh, heavens, can someone tell me what's going on?" Kexi clutched his head and let out a wail from the depths of his soul.

Yangyang finally raised her head from his arms and wiped her tears with her sleeve. She looked at him with reddened eyes, her voice full of concern and lingering fear. "Junior Brother, you were too impulsive. Even if you offended Master, you didn't have to lose hope and jump off a cliff. Master didn't actually blame you, really. After you left, she sat alone in her room for a long time without saying a word."

"What? I offended Master? Who's Master?" Kexi looked utterly bewildered.

Yangyang and Suisui exchanged a glance that said, "He really did knock himself silly."

Suisui sighed and straightened up, waving her little fan. She looked at him as though he were a stupid monkey that had accidentally fallen out of a tree. "Looks like he really did knock himself silly. He doesn't even remember Master."

Yangyang, on the other hand, was very patient and answered him earnestly. "Master is the head of our Mystic Sect, and she's also our teacher. Master's name is Qiuyuan."

"Huh???"

Kexi's jaw finally dropped to the ground, as expected.

Qiuyuan.

That female sword immortal rumored online to be cold on the outside but sickeningly sweet on the inside-was his master? No, wait, she was this world's "Junior Brother's" master.

He finally realized something was wrong.

Thinking back on what Christopher had done.

He understood.

He had transmigrated into a scripted world. He wasn't himself; he was a character in Christopher's script.

"Wait," Kexi said, suddenly remembering an even more critical question. He turned stiffly to look at Yangyang. "When you say I offended her, what exactly did I do?"

Yangyang's face flushed bright red.

She lowered her head, twisting the hem of her clothes in her fingers, her voice as soft as a mosquito's hum. "That day... you found a spirit fruit and offered it to Master... after she ate it, her whole body grew hot... and then... and then..."

She couldn't bring herself to continue.

Suisui helpfully finished the story for her, her voice full of schadenfreude. "And then you defiled Master. In the eight hundred years since the Mystic Sect was founded, you're the first person to give Master that kind of drug and walk out of the sect alive."

Kexi felt as though someone had lifted the top of his skull off.

So.

Not only was he a rebellious disciple now, he was a rebellious disciple who had drugged and defiled his master-and it looked like he had succeeded?

Who wrote this script?

He was going to demand a refund from Christopher!

He opened his mouth several times before finally squeezing a faint sound out of his throat. "Holy crap... so now I'm a rebellious disciple who defiled his master?"

Yangyang nodded seriously and solemnly.

It was a slight nod, but to him it carried the weight of a mountain.

"But Junior Brother, you don't have to blame yourself anymore."

She took his hand, her gaze gentle and anxious, as though afraid he might lose hope again. "Master only told us to bring you back. He didn't send us to kill you. Please don't jump off a cliff again, all right? Promise me you won't do anything foolish again."

Kexi looked at Yangyang's eyes, red from crying, and a surge of complicated emotions welled up inside him.

This girl really was worried about him.

Although the world was fake, her concern was real, her tears were real, and the trembling as she held him was real too.

He breathed out softly and patted the back of Yangyang's hand. "Whew, that's good. I won't jump again. You couldn't make me jump again if you killed me."

"All right, Yangyang, it's time to take this brat who caused such a huge mess back." Suisui put away her little fan and formed a sword seal. The flying sword beneath her feet gave a clear hum.

"Don't worry, Junior Brother," Yangyang said as she stood up and pulled him to his feet. Her voice was full of gentle reassurance, as though she were coaxing a child who had done something wrong and was afraid to go home. "Master... probably isn't angry. You'll probably be all right."

"That's right," Suisui added coolly from the side, her trademark mischievous smile on her lips. "But you may escape death, not punishment. You'd better prepare yourself-once we get back, the discipline hall's ruler, confinement in the scripture library, or the slop bucket, one of them is bound to be yours."

Yangyang grew anxious and hurried to speak up for Kexi. "Fourth Sister! Don't scare him! Junior Brother, don't listen to her nonsense. Master wouldn't do that."

Suisui's eyes darted about, and she went on, looking at Kexi, "You really are bold, offering Master a fruit when you didn't even know where it came from. If you'd given it to our Yangyang, perhaps you could have..."

"Oh, Fourth Sister, stop it." Yangyang's face turned red again, so red it was almost smoking.

"Oh, now you're shy. I wonder who it was who told me every night..." Before Suisui could finish, Yangyang clapped a hand over her mouth. The two girls tugged at each other in front of him, a pleasant sight, but Kexi really wasn't in the mood to appreciate it.

He was rapidly sorting through his current situation: he had transmigrated into a scripted world, apparently set in a world of immortal cultivation. His current identity was a rebellious disciple who had drugged and defiled his master, then jumped off a cliff out of fear of punishment. And this master hadn't ordered him killed, only sent people to fetch him back, probably to deal with him another way.

In short: he might escape death, but not punishment.

And Christopher had written this script.

That masked madman had used his Resonance Ability to drag all of them into this world. Now Kexi had to survive here while finding Cioccolata, Yaoyue, and Rosinante, then figure out a way out.

He took a deep breath and decided to accept reality for now.

At least, as things stood, Yangyang and Suisui meant him no harm, and that legendary master didn't intend to take his life-at least not yet.

"Um, Junior Brother, shall we go back?" Yangyang finally escaped Suisui's clutches and walked up to him, blushing, then held out her hand.

The flying sword beneath her feet cast a trail of clear light, like a little boat waiting for someone to come home.

Kexi shook his head, tossing those jumbled thoughts out of his mind, then took her hand.

He would take it one step at a time.

"Let's go. Time to go back and see Master."

And so Kexi left with them, flying on a sword.

Back where they had been.

Christopher suddenly appeared and looked in the direction they had gone. He glanced at his surroundings, then took out a hefty book, opened it, and examined it closely.

"This guy's inner world really is rich. Looks like choosing him was the right call."

"Qiuyuan, is that the female sword immortal from Xuanfang? How novel that he actually knows about her."

"Strange. Why isn't he under my script's control?"

"But this works too. A script with a bit of a butterfly effect is more exciting."
