Herta's observation log (diary) begins
With Miss Herta leading the way, Sera successfully avoided getting lost and safely returned to the laboratory.
Sera looked nervously at the Curio inside the containment box: the Star-Surveying Probe. Although he didn't have much hope for it, he couldn't help but look forward to the outcome.
The containment box opened, and Sera gently grasped the handle. The Curio's effects began to activate, and the probe at its end started working. Sera watched with some tension, while Herta, though seemingly indifferent, quietly observed Sera using the Curio.
"...?!" Sera looked at the Star-Surveying Probe with a puzzled expression, because the probe at the bottom stopped pointing at Sera's heart after rotating.
Sera defiantly turned her body away, but her gaze remained fixed on his heart.
Sera roughly understood the meaning of this Curio: by following her heart and acting according to her will, she could find her way back.
Herta raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
"If you need any help, just say so. I wasn't able to settle your payment for this experiment."
"..."
Sera didn't speak immediately, but instead turned her gaze to her heart— the Herrscher Core.
If the Star-Surveying Probe doesn't just mean what it did just now... then the answer might lie within its core.
When Herta saw that Sera didn't speak, but instead closed her eyes and placed her right hand on her heart, it wasn't hard to guess what Sera was thinking.
But... Herta's eyes flickered, as if he believed the answer he sought lay in the depths of his heart. Seraphis... who exactly are you?
"Just stay put..."
Sera hesitated upon seeing the core information. It was good to reassure him to stay by the Herta's side, but Sera was still worried about Cyrene. However, the next sentence dispelled Sera hesitation.
(She is safe)
Sera hesitated because the only people who could leave information within her core were herself and the Cocoon of Finality, and no one else could do that except herself.
The fact that Sera only hesitated a little, rather than eagerly trying to figure out Cyrene's situation, already showed that she had a lot of faith in herself and in her love for Cyrene.
Next came a countdown.
Sera roughly estimated it to be one year.
"I apologize, Miss Herta, I was just looking into the situation. I no longer need to search; I should be able to return in a year."
"Oh?"
Miss Herta didn't seem to care and waved her hand dismissively.
"I can study you in a month, a year? You'd better start thinking about where you'll be living after a month."
Miss Herta exuded confidence and pride. To be conservative, a month was already a very respectful and unknown period for her; after all, she was Herta!
That human with the highest IQ on that the Blue, a genius!
Miss Herta herself was just like the purple lily on her dress—proud, elegant, and noble.
I'll keep an eye on it.
Sera smiled, said nothing, and calmly agreed. He believed he would bring a surprise to the Herta.
Herta, who had kept his eyes closed out of indifference, slightly lifted them and turned his head to look at Sera. To Sera, this distance allowed him to clearly see Herta's eyelashes and those... violet eyes, as beautiful as amethyst.
Sera paused for a moment, the Herta's words echoing in his mind.
"Hey? I've already said all that, aren't you angry?"
Miss Herta's voice carried a hint of surprise. She had spoken that way intentionally to observe Sera's reaction and gauge his personality.
Although Herta would stop caring about certain things or people once her curiosity about them had passed, she would still put the Curio away in the collection room before that happened.
She didn't completely abandon him; she would at least arrange accommodation for him before leaving him to fend for himself.
"I know Miss Herta's personality well."
Sera isn't really stupid. Miss Herta is stubborn but soft-hearted; how could she really abandon someone? Just like those Curio, they were all things Herta had studied and wasn't interested in anymore, but they're still neatly arranged, aren't they?
As you can see in the Easter egg in the story, the Star Core Spirit left on the space station, where Miss Herta lost interest, but she still spent the rest of her life on the space station.
"I also believe I'll keep you curious for a long time."
"Tsk, whatever."
Herta turned her head away, somewhat annoyed. She always felt that Sera could easily see through her thoughts. Despite being a clueless idiot who could get lost and didn't even know her own planet's coordinates, he could always read her mind.
However, Herta herself still didn't know much about Sera, a feeling that she found quite novel.
"Come with me."
Miss Herta put aside her inner thoughts and led Sera to the guest room.
Pushing open the door, I saw a clean and tidy room, but it lacked any personal belongings.
"Let's make this clear first, you're not allowed to make a mess of the room, and you're not allowed to go upstairs to my private area."
I'll give you a card so you can buy your daily necessities at the nearby supermarket.
"Okay." Sera nodded. These were all perfectly normal requests, but... did this mean he was being kept by Miss Herta?
Ha... Sera chuckled to herself as she thought about it. What was he thinking? Herta was a genius.
"Miss Herta, do you have a study here?"
Sera decided to use her free time to learn some knowledge. Herrscher can't be illiterate, otherwise she wouldn't even know how to use her powers and would just be throwing bricks around.
"Follow me." Herta glanced at Sera, then turned and led the way.
Sera knew there was a study; it was marked on the map. But he was afraid he would get lost again, and Herta understood Sera's meaning.
Given Herta's personality, she shouldn't have bothered with such trivial matters, but she still led the way. She was curious whether Sera was the same kind of person as her.
While it's true that someone who suddenly appears in her backyard, having lost some of their Remembrance... well, someone who seems a bit of a fool, is a genius, that sounds like a complete fantasy.
But... why not spend a little time and give it a try?
"You said you were a student?"
As they walked, Herta suddenly spoke up and asked Sera a question.
"Yes."
What area do you want to study?
"..."
Sera fell silent, an answer forming in her mind—and she uttered that unlikely answer?
"Everything."
Herta was surprised for a moment, a hint of admiration flashing in her eyes, but she asked a question.
Do you know how much [everything] there is? Do you want to be Nous?
To know everything is to be omniscient, but that's impossible. Even the Nous is only omniscient within this galaxy.
Therefore, what he wanted to do was to be omniscient within the entire known scope.
Having pride is a good thing; I hope your talent matches your pride.
"Miss Herta."
Sera shook her head.
"I do not possess extraordinary intelligence; I am merely an ordinary person who uses power to take shortcuts."
"I'm just an ordinary person; I can only learn. I can't create like geniuses."
