Transmigration, Again
"Mm! Ow! My head hurts! Where am I?"
Zhang Sheng patted his forehead, his face utterly bloodless.
But he soon noticed something was wrong. As he remembered it,
he had been swallowed by a spatial rift, yet now he was alive and well. Could he be trapped somewhere?
He hurriedly mustered a sliver of strength and began looking around. What met his eyes was an empty room,
with no furniture or anything of the sort in sight, giving it a bare appearance.
The walls were made of earth, and rays of sunlight shone through them, adding a touch of color to the room.
When Zhang Sheng saw this, he froze for a moment, then secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness! Thank goodness! I wasn't transported somewhere strange. Otherwise, with my meager strength, who knows whether I'd live or die!
After setting aside his worries, Zhang Sheng slowly lay back down, wondering how he had survived, where he was now, and who had saved him.
As he thought, he began to feel a little hungry, so he struggled back into a sitting position, intending to find something to eat.
But he soon noticed something was wrong. His hands seemed much smaller-they were a child's hands.
Zhang Sheng could no longer spare a thought for food. He hurriedly looked over his entire body, and a bad feeling surfaced in his mind.
Did I transmigrate again? Or was I reborn?
At that thought, anger toward Tang San rose in his heart.
Damn that Tang San! Couldn't he have fought somewhere far away? Did becoming a god make him so great? If I hadn't arrived late, who knows who would have had the final say on the Douluo Continent?
I finally managed to let go of my obsession and enjoy a few comfortable days, and now it's all gone.
Little Sanzi! Don't let me see you, or I'll break your legs.
Zhang Sheng cursed Tang San half to death in his heart, then began lamenting his own misfortune.
"What a calamity!"
For all the vicious cursing Zhang Sheng was doing, he was actually a little uneasy.
He feared he had merely returned to the time when he first arrived on the Douluo Continent. If that were the case, there was no point struggling.
He might as well live out his life in peace.
But if things had changed, he would have to make some careful plans. Perhaps he could even achieve something great.
While Zhang Sheng was letting his thoughts run wild, he had no idea he was already in a different world, and that the ideas in his heart could never be put into practice.
"Grrr!"
Perhaps he had been too absorbed in his thoughts. If his stomach had not sounded the alarm again, he might still not have come to his senses.
Forget it! I won't think about it for now. My stomach comes first. Besides, I don't even know what my situation is right now, so there's no use thinking about it.
After suppressing some of his unrealistic thoughts, Zhang Sheng slowly began walking around the house. He went from the bedroom to the main room, which could also be called the kitchen, and looked at its furnishings.
There was a battered table with an old, worn bowl and chopsticks on it, and a low stool beside it, probably used when eating. Against another wall stood an earthen stove.
An iron pot with a chipped rim was set into the stove. That was everything he could see.
No matter how much or how little there was, whether good or bad, the more Zhang Sheng looked, the colder his heart grew. Now he truly understood what it meant to be so poor he had been wiped clean.
At this sight, Zhang Sheng's pale little face could not help twitching. In the end, all he could do was sigh.
"Is there even any point looking? Could a place even rats would turn their noses up at have anything to eat? It's all Tang San's fault. Couldn't he just live his life? He had to fight to the death.
"When I think about the house and gold coins I worked so hard to earn, all vanished into thin air, it just doesn't sit right with me."
Although Zhang Sheng hated him to death, there was still one thing worth taking comfort in: he was certain he had left his original course behind. After all, his first arrival on the Douluo Continent had been nothing like this.
As for what his situation was now, he would have to investigate it himself. He could only hope it was not too bad.
Zhang Sheng took a deep breath and pulled open the wooden door, the only thing still reasonably intact. Sunlight poured in, and for a moment the dazzling glare made it hard for him to open his eyes.
After quite a while, Zhang Sheng slowly adjusted. The first thing he saw was a towering mountain.
Judging by its height, it was at least a thousand meters tall. It was summer now, so the mountain was lush and green, a picture of thriving life.
After looking at the mountain, Zhang Sheng turned his gaze elsewhere. A few scattered houses stood in the distance.
They looked just like the house he was in, also made of earth and thatch.
As for whether anyone was there, he did not know. Perhaps because of the heat, he could not see a single soul on the road or in the fields.
Even if Zhang Sheng wanted help, he could not find anyone to ask. His heart grew still more bitter, and his resentment toward Tang San rose another notch.
With no other choice, he could only go out and take a look. Otherwise, he really would be waiting for death.
Zhang Sheng trudged toward the distant houses, hoping someone there could give him a bite to eat to tide him over. In his current condition, it would be difficult for him to find food on his own.
Just as Zhang Sheng was determinedly making his way forward, he suddenly heard someone calling from behind him.
"Eldest son of the Zhang family! Eldest son of the Zhang family! Where are you going? You're still sick. Look, I've even brought a doctor for you! Come back with me, quickly."
Zhang Sheng looked at the middle-aged man rushing toward him, momentarily at a loss.
He did not remember the man at all. The man seemed to know him-or rather, he must have known the owner of this body.
"Uncle..."
Before Zhang Sheng could finish, the middle-aged man scooped him up and headed toward his home, chattering all the while.
"Why won't you listen to your Uncle Dashan? I told you to rest at home, but you're running all over the place. You're sick right now,
"and your body is weak. What if something happened to you? How could I face your dead parents?"
"Uncle Dashan! I just..."
"All right! I'm not trying to blame you. I'm just worried something might happen to you. The doctor is still waiting at the house. We can talk after he's examined you."
Listening to Uncle Dashan, who was holding him, chatter on and on, Zhang Sheng felt boundless warmth in his heart.
There are still plenty of good people! I'll repay him more in the future.
Before long, Zhang Sheng was back in his dilapidated thatched cottage. An elderly man holding a medicine box was waiting for them inside.
"Doctor! I've brought the child back. Please take a look at him quickly, so he doesn't end up with a lingering illness."
"No rush, no rush! First, take the young lad to his bed and lay him down, so I can check his pulse."
"All right! Thank you, Doctor!"
With that, Uncle Dashan put Zhang Sheng on the bed in the bedroom, and the doctor checked his pulse.
"Fortunately, the young lad is only a little weak. I'll write him a prescription in a moment.
"He'll be fine after taking the medicine. Go prepare some liquid food for him, so he can warm his stomach first."
Once the doctor had taken care of everything, he took his leave. Zhang Sheng also ate some thin porridge Uncle Dashan had prepared, and looked a little more spirited.
"Eldest son of the Zhang family! Get some rest, and don't go running around again. I'll bring you dinner."
"Thank you, Uncle Dashan!"
"No need to stand on ceremony with your Uncle Dashan. I'll head back now, so your aunt doesn't worry."
Zhang Sheng watched Uncle Dashan's retreating figure, lost in thought for a moment. Then he felt somewhat annoyed.
How could I forget the important thing? I still haven't asked him what the situation is. Forget it! It can wait. Getting my health back comes first.
As Zhang Sheng pondered, he slowly closed his eyes.
