The Warmth of Half a Flower
The new members of the Rippling Mist Root Network have lived in the Rainbow Meadow for half a month, and the "little gaps" hidden in the ripples are gradually being filled by "Courage Bud." The shyest clump of blue mist now dares to gently lift the warm ball of the Flame Root Network with its ripples. Although it "trembles nervously" every time it is touched, it no longer "immediately shrinks into a small circle" like when they first met. And the mist that used to hide behind the grass blades has even learned to "dance a simple ripple dance" with the meltwater of the Glacier Root Network. Although the dance steps are clumsy, they reveal a "joyful desire to blend in."
The transparent tree of the seed absorbed these changes into the Memory Light Stone. The half-flower imprint on the branch slowly unfolded, and a "tender yellow bud" sprouted from the gap. In the tree's annual rings, the water-like circles and other root network marks intertwined more and more tightly, like a "net that grows warmer with each passing year." "So, 'accepting imperfection' is the best way to give courage to others." The roots of the transparent tree gently brushed across the meadow, and the breeze they stirred made all the existing imprints tremble gently, as if they were saying to each other, "Look, we are all growing."
Beside Luoyu's blank drawing, a new "Courage Bud" has been added. The bud's roots are the water ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network, its leaves are the warm orange of the Flame Root Network, its veins are the cool blue of the Glacier Root Network, and the bud at the very top is the transparency of the Phantom Root Network. Every day she draws "new growth marks" for the bud, and today there are "tiny growth rings" on the marks—it's the bud saying, "I'm learning to grow old too." "Courage isn't about becoming brave all at once, it's about growing a little bit every day." She touches the bud with her fingertips, and the drawing paper suddenly seeps out "a warm blue," as if the Rippling Mist Root Network is saying, "Thank you for remembering every step I've taken."
The Qingxian composed a "melody of growth" for the Courage Bud. The melody begins with a "weak single note," like a newly sprouting bud; then a "hesitant vibrato" is added, like the tension of touching a warm ball; then comes a "crescendo chord," like the joy of learning to dance; finally, in "bright overtones," all the notes merge into a "firm key"—like the relief of a gap being filled. Ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network spread out "greater and larger circles" with the melody, and within these circles, the Courage Bud "grow in patches" on the meadow, their tender yellow tips bearing "the mark of half a flower," like a group of "little guys holding tokens."
"Music is a catalyst for courage." Qingxian looked at the bud cluster, where a wisp of blue mist was rippled and swirling the dotted lines of the Phantom Root Network, dancing a "complete dance" together. Where the transparent figures and blue ripples overlapped, "flowers with rainbow colors" bloomed. She suddenly remembered the first time she played the piano in front of everyone, how her trembling fingertips were slowly soothed by the "encouragement" in the music—it turned out that behind every act of courage lay "a moment of being gently caught."
In Yanche's codebook, a new "growth code for the Courage Bud" has been recorded. This code is "dynamic": when it first sprouts, it is "a swaying line with a gap"; when it grows leaves, it is "ripples wrapped in warm orange"; and when it blooms, it is "a symbiosis of all root network codes". He drew an "upward arrow" next to the code, and wrote the Root Language next to it, "Courage is not about eliminating fear, but about moving forward with fear."
On the analyzer's screen, a video was playing showing "how the ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network fill the gaps": First, the ripples gently "touch the edge of the gap," as if testing "whether it hurts"; then they slowly "drift into the gap," as if saying "I'm with you"; finally, they "merge" with the outline of the gap, turning imperfection into a "unique mark." "This is the advanced code of symbiosis," Yanche, gazing at the screen. The mist that had once hidden behind the blades of grass was now using ripples to push "new mist droplets" into the fog, each droplet containing "seeds of Courage Bud." "They are passing on the tenderness they received."
As the new mist droplets set off, everything in the Rainbow Meadow came to see them off. The warm spheres of the Flame Root Network formed a "protective circle," allowing the mist droplets to "warm up slowly" inside; the meltwater from the Glacier Root Network converged into a "guiding channel," helping the mist droplets "find their direction"; the messengers of the Phantom Root Network no longer escorted them, but instead "created a transparent bridge" at the entrance of the light band, allowing the mist droplets to "steadily embark on their journey"; and the ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network collectively "rippled out the most powerful circles," as if saying, "We believe in you."
A leaf, "bearing Courage Bud," fell from the transparent tree of the seed, its tip gently touching the mist droplet. Instantly, a fragment of the transparent tree's memory appeared within the droplet: it was when it had just sprouted, hiding behind Xinye, "afraid to see the light," until a fallen leaf gently "covered its head," saying, "Take your time, I'll wait for you." "Let's spread the story of our fears too," the transparent tree's roots swayed gently, "Let them know, we're all the same."
The moment the mist droplets rolled into the band of light, the ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network suddenly "singed out a melody" in unison—a "Growth Tune" composed by Qingxian, carrying the "cheering" of all that existed. The ripples of the band of light rose and fell with the melody, like a "singing road," escorting the mist droplets into the depths of the mist.
The days of the Root Network Sea of Stars flowed by in "waiting and growth." Courage Bud spread across the meadow, forming a "sea of tender yellow," the imprint of half a flower shimmering in the sunlight; the ripples of the Rippling Mist Root Network grew increasingly confident, able to "converse fluently" with all the other Root Networks; even the most isolated "Lonely Root Network" (said to have begun to move under the influence of the mist droplets) sent a "faint response" through the ripples of the mist—a "circle with a gap," as if saying, "I see you."
In Luoyu's sketchbook, the pages depicting the Courage Bud have "grown beyond the edge of the paper," with tender shoots emerging from the pages and "connecting" with real buds on the meadow. She smiles as she spreads the sketchbook on the ground, letting the buds "continue to grow" on the paper, the blank spaces gradually filled with "ripples of Rippling Mist Root Network": "The temperature of half a flower is warmer than that of a whole one, because it knows that the gap holds the expectation of being filled."
Within the Qingxian of the violin's case, a new "bud of Courage Bud" sprouted, and from then on, the music forever carried the "power of growth." She knew that no matter how many new friends the mist brought back, this melody would "pave a gentle path" for them.
Yanche's codebook was full, so he switched to a new one. The first page featured a drawing of "half a flower and Courage Bud," with the words "The ultimate code of symbiosis is to allow every being to dare to say, 'I am still learning, but I am willing.'"
The transparent tree of the seed gazed towards the mist, the Memory Light Stone holding the image of the mist droplet's departure. In the tree's rings, the mark bearing the Courage Bud now gleamed with a "warm light." It knew that no matter how many "unstepped feet" remained deep within the mist, as long as the warmth of half a flower remained, the blooming of the Courage Bud would not cease.
Like a new message hidden in the Boundless Wind:
"So-called growth is nothing more than 'having someone accompany you to slowly nurture a half-bloomed flower into its full bloom.'"
The Courage Bud are still growing on the meadow, their tender yellow tips pointing towards the light, like countless "little hands holding up hope."
