Hei Xiazi: You Two Are So High and Mighty, So Amazing, You're Both My Living Ancestors!
"Ahem, that's enough. A little kissing is fine. Hurry up and put my body in that Jade Cocoon. I never thought I'd be the first to use something I prepared for your mother. I discovered before that once spiritual power is infused into the Jade Cocoon, it can nourish a corpse. Not only will the body not decay, it can even regain its vitality." Yu Zhi felt a little embarrassed, because Hei Xiazi was staring so hard that he could feel the piercing gaze even through the sunglasses.
Zhang Qiling, on the other hand, didn't care at all.
"Okay." The words sounded agreeable, but he didn't even lift his head. Instead, he moved on to kiss his lips, paying no mind to the blood all over them.
"I said that's enough. Are you trying to scare Blind Man to death?" Yu Zhi saw Hei Xiazi take off his sunglasses, his slightly narrow eyes now wide as a bull's, and really couldn't bear to watch anymore.
Only then did Zhang Qiling lift his head and look coldly at Blind Man for interrupting his fun.
"The Jade Cocoon is with you. I can't get in."
"Um, well, I forgot to mention it just now. Your ring was swallowed by my space. They merged. It's still your Qilin Ring. We can look into that later. First, preserve my body. It's the original, and I still need to use it."
"Okay." Zhang Qiling sent his spiritual sense into the ring and took a cursory look. They did seem to have merged. He didn't examine it any further, taking out the Jade Cocoon and starting to put it on Yu Zhi.
"Hey, hey, hey, clean me up before you put it on!" Yu Zhi hurriedly stopped him.
"But I don't want anyone else seeing your body. There's no way for me to change your clothes." Zhang Qiling felt a little aggrieved. It wasn't that he didn't care about cleanliness; there was a Blind Man beside them.
"Use a Water Control Art to clean me up first. We'll change my clothes when we get back. Leave the face covering off. Just looking at it makes me feel suffocated!"
"All right, then."
In Hei Xiazi's eyes, the scene went like this: Zhang Qiling kissed Yu Zhi's forehead for a while, then moved on to his lips, kissing him until his own mouth was covered in blood.
He found it utterly unbelievable. He took off his sunglasses to see if something was wrong with them, only to find nothing changed. It was real. Mute had really gone mad. Seemingly disturbed by his gaze, Mute stopped kissing, raised his head, and looked coldly at him for interrupting his fun.
Then he took out the Jade Cocoon and started to put Yu Zhi's body inside. He paused again, formed a hand seal to clean the body, and gently placed Yu Zhi in the Jade Cocoon, holding him carefully. Once he was finished, he looked up at Hei Xiazi again without saying a word.
Why was this bout of amnesia so different from the previous ones? And was Xiao Yu all right or not?
Zhang Qiling saw Hei Xiazi standing motionless like a pillar, his eyes fixed on the person in his arms, and was instantly displeased. He stood up with Yu Zhi in his arms and said coldly, "Going home."
Without caring whether Hei Xiazi could keep up, he turned and left.
At the words "going home," Hei Xiazi let out half the breath he'd been holding. He wasn't mad yet, which was a good thing. The rest could wait until they got home.
When he chased after him and reached the foot of the mountain, he saw a familiar black SUV parked by the road. In the back seat, Mute held Yu Zhi with his eyes closed, resting. Well, he at least knew to wait for him before driving off. He had some conscience, after all.
In fact, as soon as Zhang Qiling sat down in the car, he started fishing for praise from Yu Zhi. "How was that? Was my performance just now all right?"
"Excellent, full marks. For now, let's sit tight and see how things develop. You'll play a corpse-loving pervert-ahem, no, a madman who's been dealt too great a shock." Yu Zhi hastily corrected himself.
"I heard all of that. I don't love corpses. I love you." Zhang Qiling didn't mind.
"Mm, I love you too.
"What about the Wu Family?" Zhang Qiling thought of that whole mess again and grew a little worried.
"Once we get back, have Hei Xiazi gather some information first. You just keep pretending you've lost your memory. That way, his reactions will be the most natural. After a few days, let Blind Man know that you haven't lost your memory, then have him spread the word that you have and that I've reincarnated. We'll see what other moves they have prepared." Yu Zhi made the arrangements. There was no helping it; Blind Man was the only family the two of them had now, but he was enough.
(Hei Xiazi: You two are so high and mighty, so amazing. You're both my living ancestors!)
"By the way, you saw the space, right?"
"I did. It still looks like your space originally did, but there seems to be spiritual energy inside now. I couldn't see any other changes." Zhang Qiling sent his spiritual sense into the Qilin Ring and examined it.
"The space swallowed the Qilin Ring. You probably can't see the system settings inside it. This space doesn't just let people enter; it can also travel through space. It's bound to my soul and has no physical form. Who knew that the instant I entered your body, that thing would swallow the Qilin Ring? I won't know exactly what happened until I go inside and take a look. Fortunately, you can use it too, so we'll leave it at that for now. We'll investigate once my spiritual sense has recovered."
"All right. Do you want to rest for a while?" Zhang Qiling could sense that Yu Zhi's soul was somewhat weakened.
"Mm, I'll need your help with that. I'm in your body now, so I need you to absorb spiritual energy and convert it for me. The Jade Cocoon needs spiritual power too. You have to take good care of me and my body."
"Okay, I'll start now." Zhang Qiling couldn't bear to put Yu Zhi's body down, so he began absorbing spiritual energy.
And so the car didn't stop again except for gas. In a little over half a day, they made it back to their home in the courtyard house. Zhang Qiling didn't say a word the whole way, and Hei Xiazi glanced at him in the rearview mirror from time to time.
At last, they got home. Zhang Qiling opened the car door and carried Yu Zhi straight into the room. He still hadn't come out by noon the next day.
Hei Xiazi saw that this wouldn't do. Had Mute died in there? But he sensed the breath of a living person, so he thought he'd wait a little longer and see if he came out that evening. If not, the worst that could happen was a beating; he'd go in and take a look.
"Go on out. You haven't reached the point where you can go without food, so you need to eat." Yu Zhi had just woken up. He watched Zhang Qiling change his body into clean clothes and put it back in the Jade Cocoon, then lie on the bed with his arms around it, sleeping with his eyes open-yes, with his eyes open.
"I'm not hungry. Let me hold you a little longer." After returning home, with his lover's soul inside his body and his lover's body lying beside him, he felt safe and only wanted things to stay this way forever. (Author: This child was so frightened he had a stress reaction.)
"Mute, I bought some food. Come out and eat a little." Hei Xiazi thought it over from every angle and, in the end, couldn't wait until evening. He went out, bought some food at random, and hurried back to call him out to eat.
"Even Blind Man is calling you. Hurry up and go," Yu Zhi urged him.
"No." He answered Yu Zhi in his head.
Hei Xiazi pressed his ear to the door and listened carefully, but didn't hear a single word. Really, he had no need to listen so hard. At the qi refining eighth layer, he could hear a mosquito fart clear as day.
This can't go on, he thought to himself. He paced back and forth in front of the door twice before deciding to push it open and take a look. Huh, it wasn't even locked.
He came face-to-face with Zhang Qiling's eyes as he turned his head. It was very eerie: his body was lying on its side with its back to the door, arms wrapped around the Jade Cocoon, while his head was turned to glare at him. He looked just like a zongzi from a tomb.
"Listen, Mute, you've got to eat something. If you starve yourself and lose your strength, who'll carry Xiao Yu? I can't carry him." Hei Xiazi cleverly tried a different approach.
"Are you asking for a beating?" Zhang Qiling blew up. He wanted to carry Yu Zhi? In your dreams.
But those words succeeded in getting him up, though he took Yu Zhi into his arms and carried him out.
"That works too, I guess." Seeing him like this, Hei Xiazi said no more. If he wanted to carry him, let him. It was better than ascending straight to heaven. He only had this one brother, and he could understand it all. But he still needed to find out what had happened as soon as possible.
