Background / History

Early Life and Awakening

Chen Yi grew up in a military family. His parents and older brother all served in the military, but he wanted to become a free martial artist rather than follow them into military service. Before awakening his past-life memories, he signed with the Dojo of Limits without first telling his parents and obtained a villa in Mingyue Residential Area 2.

His early specialty was firearms, which he had learned through his family. Zhuge Tao recruited him partly for his marksmanship and partly because of his friendship with Chen Weilong. After remembering Swallowed Star, Chen Yi abandoned further firearms study and concentrated on Spiritual Force, cold weapons, and movement techniques 8 20.

At eighteen, he awakened both his previous-life memories and the Cloud Raising Mirror. Knowing the dangers awaiting Earth, he selected Luo Feng as his first cloud-raising target and began supplying resources under the identity of “Yun.” Luo Feng’s move into Mingyue Residential Area completed the first milestone and gave Chen Yi the draw that yielded Spirit Reader Talent 1 2.

Elite Training Camp

Chen Yi deliberately displayed his Spirit Reader abilities during the martial artist assessment to attract the Dojo of Limits’ attention. Zhuge Tao secured Elite Training Camp places for both him and Luo Feng, giving Chen Yi the opportunity to approach Hong 5 8 11.

At the camp, he recorded Hong as a potential target and concealed the subsequent binding by presenting the mirror’s benefits as a mysterious “system.” Through Hong’s goals and rewards, Chen Yi obtained valuable resources while encouraging Hong to invest in the two young Spirit Readers 14 15 18 19.

He and Luo Feng trained under Jiang Fang and became close friends. Although Chen Yi’s cultivation advanced quickly, Jiang Fang exposed weaknesses in his close combat, particularly his failure to account for defense while attacking 20.

Strengthening Earth

After Luo Feng found Babata, Chen Yi obtained access to the Yunmo Star Inheritance and joined Meteorite Ink Star. He also established “Chen Yi” as another genius favored by Senior Yun, creating a convenient explanation for the treasures he would later produce 27 30.

Chen Yi and Luo Feng helped defend a Southeast Military Region river mouth while soldiers repaired laser cannons. They then hunted sea beasts to supply the Myriad Beasts Blood Refining Pool. Its product became a major cultivation resource for their group and, through trades with Hong and Jia Yi, for other Earth powerhouses 28 29 33.

His assistance helped both parents become War Gods and enabled several Huaxia cultivators to reach Councilor Level. He also had Babata collect evidence against Li Yao’s family, Yan Hai, Sago, Councilor Vino, and others, then submitted it to the War God Palace with a request for execution; the request was approved 35.

Golden Horned Beast and Departure

Using his knowledge of the original story, Chen Yi prepared for the Golden Horned Beast’s arrival. He and Luo Feng retrieved its egg, and Chen Yi supplied an incubator that shortened its remaining development to a little over half a month. He encouraged Luo Feng to possess the beast rather than claim the opportunity himself 34 35.

His own benefit came through extracting Clone and Law of Metal talent. He then developed a concealed Starry Firmament Hibernation One clone, prioritizing survival and comprehension over direct combat strength 36 37.

Chen Yi later invited Hong and Thunder God to accompany him and Luo Feng into the universe aboard the Black Dragon Mountain Spaceship. Their plan was to gain resources and protection through the Ganwu Universe Country while preparing for the Genius Battle 38.

Ganwu Secret Realm

After clearing the Ganwu Trial, Chen Yi joined the Ganwu Secret Realm alongside Luo Feng. Their recruitment, followed by Hong’s limited invitation, attracted attention from the Black Dragon Mountain authorities, who registered Earth under Chen Yi’s name 41.

He founded the Mutual Aid Alliance to pool transferable secret techniques and cultivation aids. His willingness to help Hong improve drew admiration, but he refused Zhen Gong and other cultivators who demanded access without offering anything in return 46 47 48.

His progress in Metal and Light brought him to the Ganwu Country Lord’s attention. The country lord accepted him as a nominal disciple, offered training equivalent to that of a personal disciple for the time being, and required him to enter the Primal Secret Region and develop a higher law to earn personal discipleship 49.

Personality

Chen Yi is a cautious planner who prefers preparation and controlled growth to unnecessary adventure. He recognizes that the mirror allows him to obtain resources without personally contesting dangerous opportunities, and he deliberately conceals its existence and his Senior Yun identity 1 5 6.

He does not resent Luo Feng for initially cultivating faster. He considers withholding resources merely to stay ahead childish, and measures his gains against what he could have achieved without the mirror. Although he treats cloud-raising targets as investments, he also develops genuine affection for Luo Feng and takes particular satisfaction in helping his relationship with Xu Xin 5 20 23.

Chen Yi acknowledges his shortcomings rather than relying entirely on treasures. He admires Luo Feng’s diligence, accepts Jiang Fang’s criticism, and chooses painful cultivation partly to temper his will. Later cultivation strengthens his confidence without removing his preference for advance planning 9 18 20 47.

His generosity has limits: the Mutual Aid Alliance is intended for mutual development, not compulsory access to his resources. When Zhen Gong attempts to exploit it, Chen Yi rejects him openly despite his powerful family background 48.
