City 003: The Hunt Begins!
In the Wilderness Zone, a figure in a protective suit was racing along.
His speed broke the sound barrier, and a terrifying sonic boom cloud appeared behind him.
The figure was none other than Li Jing, who had returned to the Wilderness Zone. He was now headed for City 003.
Before the Great Nirvana, City 003 had been Shanghai City, the largest metropolis in Huaxia.
After the Great Nirvana, it became one of the most dangerous Wilderness Zone cities in all of Huaxia and even Asia.
Lord-level Monsters, which were rarely seen or even entirely absent in some small and medium-sized cities, were everywhere in City 003.
Even King-level monsters, the equivalents of Planetary Level fighters, might be seen in City 003.
Here, a standard Junior War General squad like the Bloodthirsty Squad had no chance of establishing a foothold.
Even in the relatively safer suburbs, it took at least an elite War General squad led by an Intermediate War General, with every member a Junior War General, to gain a foothold.
The vast numbers of monsters also drew many powerful fighters and fighter squads to battle in City 003, including quite a few fighters from outside Huaxia.
Although the density of monsters in City 003 had fallen somewhat after Luo Feng's rise, it remained one of the most dangerous forbidden zones in Huaxia.
In fact, Luo Feng had deliberately left the vast majority of Earth's monsters alive.
After a trip to Qiu Long Star, Luo Feng had quite a few Star Level slaves at his disposal, as well as a full 1,000 Planetary Level Nine Spirit Readers.
That was enough to wipe out every monster on Earth.
But he had not done so.
The reason was simple: adversity bred survival, while comfort bred death.
Leaving some monsters alive would spur Earth Humans to train hard and raise the overall genetic level of Earthlings.
Only then could more powerful experts emerge in the future, rather than relying solely on Luo Feng and his few companions.
Only a race that produced a steady stream of geniuses and powerful experts could avoid enslavement in the cruel universe.
A race that relied on only a few leaders was far too fragile and had little ability to withstand risks.
Li Jing's physical abilities had reached the Intermediate War God level, and he also possessed the Black God Set and a Series 9 Combat Suit.
Nothing below Planetary Level could do a thing to him.
Naturally, he had chosen City 003, where monsters were densely concentrated and Lord-level Monsters were plentiful, as the destination for this trip to the Wilderness Zone.
Only here could he unleash his full abilities.
While Li Jing was heading to City 003, at the Limits Dojo in Jiangnan Base City.
Having learned Li Jing's position from him, Wu Tong did not call but came straight here to find Zhuge Tao.
"How did it go? Did Li Jing agree? He didn't say anything else, did he?"
In the office, Zhuge Tao hurriedly asked before he even had time to invite Wu Tong to sit down.
Under Zhuge Tao's eager gaze, Wu Tong shook his head gravely. "Li Jing seems to have seen that something was amiss. He no longer wants to go to the Elite Training Camp and says he has another opportunity."
Zhuge Tao's face darkened at those words. "This is simply absurd. What kind of place is the Elite Training Camp? It's the War God Preparatory Camp!
"How many great families and powerful factions have their eyes on its places? Even pulling strings, they can barely get in, yet Li Jing actually gave up his place himself?
"Another opportunity? What opportunity could compare to the Elite Training Camp?
"I know headquarters didn't handle this fairly. The unconditional admission stipulated in the contract ended up becoming admission contingent on passing a B-rank assessment.
"But neither we nor Li Jing can change that.
"The best choice is to swallow this grievance and enter the Elite Training Camp.
"Once his strength and standing have risen, he can settle the score for this.
"Sure, refusing to enroll feels good, but isn't he treating his own future as a fighter like a joke?
"Even if Li Jing is highly gifted and has the makings of a Planetary Level fighter, he can't squander his gifts like this, can he?"
Zhuge Tao was frustrated that Li Jing would not live up to his potential. Besides regretting it for Li Jing's sake, he also had his own interests in mind.
Although Jiang Nian and Wu Tong had discovered Li Jing, the Limit General Hall in Yangzhou City was directly under Zhuge Tao's jurisdiction.
So Li Jing was also a feather in his cap.
The faster Li Jing grew and the better he performed, the greater the benefits to Zhuge Tao personally.
How could he just decide not to go to the Elite Training Camp?
He refused to believe that Li Jing could become a War God Level fighter faster without entering the Elite Training Camp.
"Supervisor Zhuge, don't be too anxious. Maybe Li Jing is just young and headstrong, and hasn't been able to see past it for the moment.
"Besides, the assessment window is valid for a whole month. Maybe after some time, Li Jing will be willing to go to the Elite Training Camp himself?"
"Let's give Li Jing a little more time to think it over," Wu Tong said, trying to calm him.
Clearly, he did not think Li Jing would stick to his decision. Before long, he would change his tune and agree to go to the Elite Training Camp.
After all, who would stand in the way of their own future as a fighter?
He just needed to see past it!
Zhuge Tao nodded. "Mm, let's give Li Jing some more time. We won't tell the higher-ups about this yet.
"If headquarters asks when they should send someone to take Li Jing to the assessment, put them off as best you can. Just say Li Jing is in seclusion and we'll discuss it when he comes out."
"That way, headquarters won't learn what Li Jing is thinking and stir up any more trouble."
The Wilderness Zone in Huaxia.
Li Jing finally arrived in City 003. The sight of towering buildings greeted him, a rather spectacular view.
Most of the buildings, however, had grown old and dilapidated, and the streets were littered with abandoned car wrecks.
The roads were overgrown with weeds and crisscrossed by many cracks left by large monsters.
The whole scene had the desolate look of an apocalyptic wasteland.
The monster roars that sounded from time to time added to the savage atmosphere.
"Let the hunt begin!"
With a thought from Li Jing, the unremarkable black vest he wore beneath his Series 9 Combat Suit rapidly stretched and spread as though it were alive.
Soon it covered his entire body, providing protection from every direction.
It also turned Li Jing into a "black man," with only his eyes exposed.
"The Series 9 Combat Suit reduces impact by ninety percent, and the Black God Set reduces it by another ninety percent. The remaining one percent of the force is distributed evenly across my whole body.
"Even Advanced Lord monsters can't break through my defenses, let alone Junior or Intermediate Lord monsters.
"As for offense, I have a base strength of 193,000 kilograms, tripled by the first level of the Arc Light Secret Technique, along with Tiger Thorn, a tier-one Origin Force weapon suited to combat at the Planetary Level.
"Even an Advanced Lord-level monster can be worn down and killed!
"As long as I don't provoke any King-level monsters that might be in City 003, I can go wherever I please!
"And after Luo Feng swept through City 003, it's still an open question whether there are any King-level monsters left."
Li Jing grinned and slammed his right foot into the ground, the immense impact making the street sink slightly.
Spiderweb cracks spread across a radius of more than ten meters around Li Jing's footprint.
Using the force of the push, Li Jing himself shot toward the heart of City 003 like a cannonball leaving its barrel.
Along the way, he smashed straight through monsters that panicked and failed to dodge in time, like a tank.
