Honoring Confucianism and Unifying Thought
"Your son has already strengthened the patrols at the Yang Mausoleum and ordered certain people to handle this exceptional matter by exceptional means. They need not each act according to old rules and practices. Coordinating their efforts should strengthen the defenses of the Yang Mausoleum!"
"Patrols?"
In the Palace of Peace and Happiness, the grand empress dowager heard the new emperor's report.
As usual, it was not much of a report.
But the new emperor always conducted himself in such a conventional, proper manner that even the grand empress dowager found it hard to fault him. His handling of affairs rarely gave her any pleasant surprises, but he would not stab her in the back, either.
With trouble at the Yang Mausoleum, there really were not many good options besides strengthening the patrols.
But assigning too many people to patrol would not do. Drawing away too many would throw the defenses of Chang'an City out of balance,
and assigning too few would not do either. A handful of people sent to the Yang Mausoleum would accomplish nothing. They could only walk around the mausoleum once or twice in a whole day, and such patrols would provide no security at all.
A top-tier great cultivator had infiltrated the Yang Mausoleum, and Chang'an City was not peaceful either.
At the very least, the grand empress dowager knew all too well about the demonic and evil affairs in Chang'an City. Left Envoy Feiyu had come to the city, so it would be perfectly normal for the right envoy of the Xieluosi River Holy Land to come as well. Even Zhu Jiuyin was very likely watching hungrily from the shadows.
The one thing that puzzled the grand empress dowager was that, despite her repeated searches, she had never found a trace of Lu Baibai.
