Each to Their Own Place
The two who were staring at each other at night have become a trio.
Of course, the trio did not add any more members in the end.
As dawn approached, no one else came to the Zhang residence.
Zhang Xuezhou has been away from Chang'an City for too long; even the most ambitious forces cannot keep an eye on a residence every single moment.
The practice of visiting someone's home through divination and other means, as seen in the case of Jin Chang, is extremely high-end and cannot be imitated by ordinary forces.
"I'm going to the palace to see His Majesty!"
As dawn broke, Zhang Xuezhou got up, feeling he needed to quickly shed his official title.
What brings you to His Majesty?
Seeing Zhang Xuezhou stand up and leave, Jin Chang finally couldn't help but ask a question.
"Let's go play with His Majesty!"
"Play?"
Jin Chang felt that Zhang Xuezhou's answer was too perfunctory, but after glancing at Divine Lord Zhenyuan, he didn't dare to act rashly. He even began to worry about how to cooperate with Zhang Xuezhou in the future.
According to Divine Lord Zhenyuan's methods, Jin Chang felt that even after integrating the Yin-Yang School's realm techniques and entering the Sole Self Realm, he would only have the ability to escape and lack the possibility of direct confrontation.
Only someone at the True Self Realm could possibly contend with him.
This goal is so far in the future that it would be difficult for Jin Chang to rush or threaten Zhang Xuezhou to do it, especially since it involves Jin Chang's past cooperation with Zhang Xuezhou.
Go have fun, but come back soon!
Jin Chang pondered for two seconds, then held his breath and waved his hand to indicate that he couldn't control Zhang Xuezhou and wouldn't investigate even if Zhang Xuezhou had business with the new emperor.
"We still don't know where Changxian Township is?"
Zhang Xuezhou leisurely walked out the door.
Jin Chang also looked at this strange Daoist priest who made him somewhat afraid.
Without the use of puppets, it is difficult for cultivators to appear young despite their aging bodies. The current Divine Lord Zhenyuan Lord's face is like that of a child, and the strange contradiction between his youthful appearance and old body makes it difficult for Jin Chang to distinguish between them. He simply cannot figure out the origin of Divine Lord Zhenyuan.
He tentatively asked a question, and Divine Lord Zhenyuan turned his gaze back to Jin Chang for a few seconds.
Zhang Xuezhou's situation is complicated; he became an apprentice of the Emperor halfway through his life and has a corresponding sect outside of his own.
Generally speaking, Divine Lord Zhenyuan still held a certain degree of respect for Zhang Xuezhou's elders. Although he didn't treat them with the same respect as the Emperor, it was normal for him to be polite.
However, Divine Lord Zhenyuan couldn't be polite to Jin Chang; he could truly sense Jin Chang's restless heart.
It must be said that once a close relationship is lacking, and given the preconceived notion that Jin Chang sneaks in at night to do bad things, Divine Lord Zhenyuan's judgment based on his subtle observations will be constantly amplified.
He felt that Jin Chang's smile was fake and his words and actions were hypocritical. He also felt that the other party's body was filled with deeply hidden filth and Blood Qi, which meant that he had not followed the right path in his cultivation.
Based on his simplistic judgment and his previously less-than-ideal perception, Divine Lord Zhenyuan harbored some resistance towards Jin Chang and found it difficult to have intimate conversations with him.
"There's no fairyland here; I'm just a down-on-his-luck wanderer!"
Divine Lord Zhenyuan responded, then ignored Jin Chang and instead stepped into the courtyard to stretch his limbs.
He slowly stretched his body, exhaling and exhaling in the morning light.
"Shaped like a crane, with a long and profound aura, he is a human cultivator, not Demon Cultivator. Where did this old monster come from with such powerful cultivation and methods? His face is like that of a child, so he must have cultivated Devil Cultivation Method related to sacrifices. His temperament must be very brutal and cruel. If I hadn't quickly begged for mercy from my junior nephew last night, this old monster would probably have crushed my collarbone and then swallowed me!"
Jin Chang couldn't find out where Divine Lord Zhenyuan came from, and he kept watching Divine Lord Zhenyuan's morning cultivation from afar, constantly making guesses in his mind.
He felt that Zhang Xuezhou's activities over the past few months had been limited in scope, and the people he invited must have come from within the Great Han Dynasty, and were most likely hidden old devils from some of the Hundred Schools of Thought.
But after much deliberation, Jin Chang realized that cultivators like Divine Lord Zhenyuan were rare among the various schools of thought.
He racked his brains but still couldn't figure out which family Divine Lord Zhenyuan belonged to.
"It seems that only the Guigu School of Daoism has unorthodox practices. Daoist School like the Wenshi School, Chongxu School, and Zhuanglie School all practice orthodox methods. However, the Guigu School's lineage declined after splitting into the Vertical Sword School and the Horizontal Sword School, falling even further behind our Yin-Yang School. It's unlikely that they would produce such a master!"
Jin Chang is the inheritor of the Yin Yang Nine People Sect. If we were to be strict about it, he would be the leader of the Nine People Sect, even if he were just a figurehead.
As a once-great school of thought in the Southern Jambudvipa Continent, the Yin-Yang School Yin-Yang School has little influence today, but the cultivators of the Yin Yang Nine People Sect are not bad.
Jin Chang felt it was too outrageous that Jin Chang could be subdued in just two moves.
He had considered that he might be defeated by top masters such as the Venerable One, Dao Lord, Nine Spirits Primal Sage, Empress Dowager, and Li Guang, but Jin Chang never imagined that he would be defeated by this young-looking old Daoist priest in front of him, let alone suffer a complete defeat.
"Damn it!"
Jin Chang cursed inwardly.
He was caught in a dilemma, unable to advance or retreat, and appeared extremely embarrassed.
"So what if I get scolded? I'm not going to do anything like that princess!"
Jin Chang thought about the King of Huainan's Household's Chang'an City, and couldn't help but let out a soft hum.
"This was a miscalculation on your part; you didn't anticipate the presence of the True Self Realm cultivator here. It's not my fault!"
If things are simple and convenient, Jin Chang feels he can do them without hesitation; but if things get to the point of being life-threatening, Jin Chang wouldn't take such a big risk.
Great cultivators cultivate to live better lives, not to risk their lives as slaves to anyone.
He was a first-class guest minister, and his relationship with the King of Huainan's Household was one of cooperation, not one of servant.
"I can't stand the smell of pork, so I'll take my leave now!"
Upon hearing the knock on the door, a sturdy young man carrying a pig entered the Zhang residence, and Jin Chang quickly made an excuse to leave.
To Jin Chang's surprise, the Daoist priest in the courtyard completely ignored him and instead went out of his way to help the Zhang couple unload the pig and chop the meat.
The other person seemed a bit clumsy and rough in their work. After a short while, Lady Yourong sent them to help pour water and wash the pig's blood.
The familiar stench of blood and flesh rose up, Jin Chang glanced at it before his body swayed and he transformed into a shadow, fleeing swiftly.
Once they entered the main street, the shadow he had transformed into had shrunk into the carriage, idly hitching a ride.
Zhang Xuezhou went to the palace, while Jin Chang returned to the King of Huainan's Household.
Nearly an hour later, Jin Chang was already standing in the main hall of the King of Huainan's Household's Palace where he held court.
"Have you taken care of things, sir?"
Incense burned slowly in the council hall of the King of Huainan's Household's mansion. This incense was not meant to refresh the mind, but simply to leave one smelling pleasant as one walked.
This is something that women like, but some men also like it.
Of course, for Jin Chang, who prefers seclusion, this incense would make it inconvenient to hide while performing his magic, and would undoubtedly be equivalent to a foul stench.
He covered his nose with his hand, then looked at the woman in the main hall who was playing with a colorful mechanical bird, and then at a long-bearded Daoist priest beside her.
"Princess, you should find someone else to handle this matter. I, Jin, cannot do it!"
Jin Chang frowned.
He was too lazy to explain the reasons, and simply said that he couldn't do it, which was enough to complete his report.
After all, the divination error had nearly gotten him beaten to death last night, and Jin Chang was furious about it, so his mood was far from pleasant.
After giving a brief explanation, Jin Chang bowed slightly, then turned and left.
"Guest Minister Jin, Guest Minister Jin... you are utterly insolent!"
The princess, as addressed by Jin Chang, had a good temper, but while she could tolerate the eccentricities of some of her retainers, it didn't mean she could tolerate their erratic behavior.
She called out twice, but Jin Chang completely ignored her and walked straight out of the hall. This made her lose her temper and get up to scold him.
"Princess, there's no need to be anxious. Guest Elder Jin Chang must have encountered some embarrassing situation, which led him to abandon the mission outright!"
Jin Chang ignored the princess, which forced the long-bearded Daoist priest in the main hall to smooth things over.
"Left Wu, you're accurate nine times out of ten in your divinations. As long as you're right, Jin Chang can easily accomplish this task," the princess said, slightly annoyed. "Jin Chang's disrespect towards me is outrageous. You should report this to my father and have him teach Jin Chang a lesson!"
"Princess, please calm your anger!"
The long-bearded Daoist, Zuo Wu, waved his hands repeatedly.
His expression was calm as he tried to dissuade the princess, but there was a hint of bitterness in his voice.
Clearly, Jin Chang was idle and wandered around aimlessly, and had not been taught how to behave by the King of Huainan's Household, while Zuo Wu had already had enough experience and had been disciplined to behave himself.
