A Great God Enters a Small Temple
"Changkong Luo, it's been a long time!"
Chimon Haig was still lying there, but his low, labored breathing could be clearly heard.
Chim Hagrid's voice contained so many complex emotions.
It seemed to contain a mixture of resentment at the thought of dying, joy at the relief of surviving, fear, anger, and a desperate struggle.
People are born similar, but those who reach the forefront of the world have all experienced various trials and tribulations and deserve to be recorded in books.
These people are all top-notch, and possess extraordinary strength in certain aspects, far surpassing ordinary people.
In the medical room, Chimmon Hagrid was indeed awake.
A sewing needle was held in front of Changkong Luo's eyeball. No matter whether Changkong Luo was in front of him or behind him, or how far away he was, the distance between the sewing needle and Changkong Luo remained unchanged.
It was as if, should there be a need, this needle could pierce Changkong Luo's eyeball.
Chimon Hagrid did not manipulate the needle further, nor did Changkong Luo want to gamble on whether the needle could break through the resistance layer and pierce his own eyeball.
"Chimon Hagrid, we saved your life, and now you're planning to be ungrateful?"
Changkong Luo pursed his lips and responded to Qimeng Haige in the same way.
As soon as he finished speaking, the suture needle in front of his eyeball suddenly disappeared, and he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"As long as you don't try to kill me, I won't be ungrateful!"
Chimmon Hagrid's voice grew louder, and he shifted slightly. Amidst the chaos, the various small surgical instruments in the medical room returned to their original positions.
"I want to join the Church of Thurs!"
After catching his breath several times, Chimmon Hagrid cried out.
This left Zhang Xuezhou and the others looking at each other in bewilderment.
"Don't be fooled by my closed eyes and lack of bodily sensation; I can hear your voices as you communicate!" Chimmanhaig exclaimed. "I am devout, and I am willing to worship the god Thur!"
"What the hell?" Zhou Rihui scoffed. "What did you say, Uncle Hagrid? Are you out of your mind and hallucinating?!"
"Little Zhou, don't try to fool Grandpa Hagrid!" Chimmon Hagrid said. "Your old Zhou and I are buddies. He even told me to take care of you. You can't be so heartless towards Grandpa Hagrid!"
"Since Chimon Haig wants to join the Church of Thurs, then so be it!"
Ren Yisheng glanced at Changkong Luo with interest, then looked at Chimon Haig, who was beginning to prop himself up in the medical room.
As someone expelled from the Aomeijia Alliance, Chimon Hagrid has no national affiliation and no real principles; he's practically opportunistic.
It's very difficult to get Chimmon Hagrid to act so humbly.
Clearly, whether it was due to uncontrollable power of the Eighth Sequence, the body recovering from a serious illness and struggling to cope, or some other reason, after sensing Changkong Luo's hesitant and uncertain attitude towards him, Chimon Hagrid was quickly seeking to band together to survive.
The term "Eighth Sequence" carries significant weight, enough to alter the course of a nation or region.
Chimmon Hagrid of the Seventh Sequence was suppressed by Badun to the point of being unable to return home, while Chimmon Hagrid of the Eighth Sequence might be able to fight his way back to the Aomeijia Alliance, or he might be able to force Badun to abandon the rules of restraint, thus forcing Chimmon Hagrid to find another way to survive.
Regardless of which path Chimmon Hagrid chooses once he becomes powerful enough, it signifies a potential shift in the top-level dynamics.
Changkong Luo's attitude is not surprising; if Qimeng Haige were in the other's position, he would have adopted the same attitude.
"A small temple cannot contain a great deity!"
Upon seeing Ren Yisheng's permission, Changkong Luo frowned and offered a reminder.
Do you think I'm not good enough?
Ren Yisheng raised his head, his clear gaze withdrawing from Qimeng Haige and turning to Changkong Luo.
As latecomers, both Ren Yisheng, with his flaws, and Chimon Hagrid, with his unstable situation, are inevitably inferior to Badun.
If Badun on Alliance Island is in good physical condition and has sufficient energy, a direct confrontation with Ren Yisheng is inevitable.
Ren Yisheng's strategy of setting up an operation on Alliance Island, only taking the stage himself in the third major phase, allows one to make a general guess about the situation.
Even though the rules of Alliance Island have changed, Badun will visit Ren Yisheng sooner or later. If Ren Yisheng doesn't want to end up in a bad situation, Ren Yisheng also needs to plan ahead.
It's not unreasonable that Ren Yisheng would dare to join forces with the dangerous group at the Old Age Mansion, let alone with Chimon Haig, who was forced by circumstances.
"Compared to creating conflict, getting along amicably is the best thing," Zhang Xuezhou said with a smile, trying to ease tensions.
"Winning over Chimon Haig inevitably means needing to counter Badun," Changkong Luo said.
"I know!"
"It's good that you know what's going on!"
Ren Yisheng nodded in agreement, which made Changkong Luo stop pressing the matter.
Compared to their older generation, who preferred to nip threats in the bud, Ren Yisheng and others had a different set of rules for doing things.
Ren Yisheng and others enjoy dealing with various complex interpersonal relationships and can align their interests, thus forming alliances of varying lengths.
In this system, as long as the leader gains more than the collaborators, they can also develop faster, allowing Ren Yisheng and others to maintain their leading position.
Conversely, if the leaders are inadequate, everything led by Ren Yisheng and others will inevitably collapse, leading to greater conflicts and unmanageable consequences.
Changkong Luo pondered the ferocious beast, the divine grace of Tu'er, the longevity elixir, and so on, feeling that these were things that the people of the old mansion would find hard to part with.
As for how Ren Yisheng will bind Qimeng Haige, how long the binding will last, and what consequences it will lead to, Changkong Luo finds it difficult to guess.
He had a brief conversation with Ren Yisheng, then looked at Chimon Haig in the medical room with a hint of regret.
"Changkong Luo is no good. He's far more cunning than Zhou Xin. He really tried to kill me just now; I could feel his killing intent!"
Perhaps realizing that they could get along peacefully, Chimpanzee, who was lying on the medical bed, propped himself up and muttered to the crowd with great dissatisfaction.
Hehe... hehe!
Changkong Luo gave a dry laugh, followed by a somewhat awkward response.
"Everyone is counting on you to lead the search for those two ferocious beasts, and they went to great lengths to save you. How could we let you die?" Zhang Xuezhou said with a smile.
"If I were in the Seventh Sequence, that old ghost Changkong Luo would definitely be willing to go to great lengths to save me. After all, I would have to listen to him after I came back to life, and I would have to thank his whole family. But if my strength exceeds his control, the outcome would be completely different," Qimeng Haig complained. "But this Eighth Sequence isn't something I can just choose not to enter."
"You're the only one who would say something like that, getting a good deal and then acting innocent," Changkong Luo shook his head.
"This is too cheap..." Chimon Haig glanced at Changkong Luo, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "If you want to take advantage of this kind of deal, I would always recommend you try it!"
"What?" Changkong Luo, his eyelids twitching.
"Those aren't just two ferocious beasts, but a whole pack," Chimon Haig whispered. "A massive group of more than ten different ferocious beasts. Even if your entire top Scarlet Alliance State were to encounter them, you would be wiped out!"
"Impossible!"
"If you don't believe me, go and try it!"
Changkong Luo may not have believed it, but when Qimeng Haige recommended him to join the game, Changkong Luo shook his head like a rattle drum.
Even with the logistical support of Thur's Divine Grace healing, it's impossible to bring the dead back to life.
Even Qimeng Haig, who excels at rapid attacks, has met such an end. Changkong Luo is undoubtedly only fit to be used as a cannon emplacement; once he's inside, he'll never get out.
