The Sage's Great Unification
Cultivators with the ability to sense destiny are rare, but that's only because too many people lack the qualifications to cultivate.
Cultivators are few and far between, and those who cultivate luck are even rarer. Among them, those with the talent of "luck eye" are purely lucky.
But with a large enough population, any talent will be as plentiful as cabbage.
If I were the King of Huainan...
As Dong Zhongshu described it, Zhang Xuezhou's heart skipped a beat, and he finally understood how to conduct a large-scale investigation of Huang Daoxian.
"Just like cultivating the art of destiny, the Realm Technique doesn't play a significant role. Only those with the ability to manipulate fortune need the support of a high realm for long-term cultivation. I can have people pray to the ancestral scriptures to guide those with the talent for the ability to manipulate fortune to fulfill their wishes, thereby gaining people who can judge those who cultivate the art of destiny. If we further promote the cultivation of this Realm Entry with the 'Confucius's Sayings on Qi Guan,' these people will be the seeds for investigating Huang Daoxian, and they can also accompany many committee members and officials to conduct investigations everywhere!"
Even if it meant tracing the investigation directly to Huang Daoxian, Zhang Xuezhou felt it would be worthwhile to eliminate any suspects.
For example, many Lineage in Changqing City were investigated one by one by the committee, but no satisfactory results were ever obtained.
Zhang Xuezhou felt that once he had this type of talent, he could visit them again to verify their qualifications.
However, this also raises a problem. While it's satisfying to learn about the methods used against Huang Daoxian, it's also unpleasant to know that the King of Huainan might use such tactics against himself.
"The King of Huainan is focused on Chang'an City. I am in Jiangdu, so he should be unable to reach me. You are probably in some danger in Chang'an City," Dong Zhongshu warned after guessing.
"I am currently resigning from my official post. After resigning, I have no power. Even if his people notice something amiss, I should only be a minor figure who doesn't cause any harm and won't be specifically targeted by the King of Huainan!"
Zhang Xuezhou waved his hand.
The matter, after many twists and turns, eventually returned to the point where it involved Dong Zhongshu's purpose in coming to Chang'an City.
Upon hearing that Zhang Xuezhou had long planned to resign as Grand Master of the Palace, Dong Zhongshu felt that the power of strategy had already taken effect in an unpredictable way, minimizing the risks faced by Zhang Xuezhou as much as possible.
Dong Zhongshu, Zhang Xuezhou, and others have not yet targeted the King of Huainan, and even if the Prince of King of Huainan's people see through their schemes, it is not a matter of immediate death.
Dong Zhongshu was in Jiangdu, while Zhang Xuezhou had been relieved of his important post. This would sever any connection between the two, making it unlikely that they would be attacked by the King of Huainan.
"I currently lack the resources to manage things in Chang'an City, and I haven't yet had the opportunity to bring Gongsun Hong to the forefront," Dong Zhongshu said. "Your position as Grand Master of the Palace may be our only chance to get things done in the next few years!"
"I cannot simply promote Confucian School rites; this matter needs to be changed!"
"You could also add the Yin-Yang School's etiquette!"
"The Yin-Yang School... the Yin-Yang School is almost extinct. There's nothing worth promoting about this declining school of thought and its rituals, and there's no need to develop it further!"
"That Daoist priest Huang is currently the mainstream figure in the royal family, we can..."
Zhang Xuezhou was making excuses, while Dong Zhongshu was trying his best to persuade him to stay, indicating that this was the only opportunity for the two of them to make advance plans against the Prince of King of Huainan.
The two had many disagreements yesterday, but cooperated more harmoniously today.
Zhang Xuezhou paved the way for his resignation as much as possible, while Dong Zhongshu also significantly adjusted his goals, wary that everything he had done would come to naught.
"How do you plan to target the King of Huainan without arousing King of Huainan suspicion?"
During the discussion, Zhang Xuezhou couldn't help but ask about the key to their harmonious relationship.
"Do you remember my copy of 'Luxuriant Dew of the Spring and Autumn Annals'?" Dong Zhongshu asked.
"I remember," Zhang Xuezhou nodded.
"I once mentioned the concept of Celestial Person in the Spring and Autumn Annals, and the great unification of the Spring and Autumn Annals is the constant principle of Heaven and Earth, and the common meaning of ancient and modern times." Dong Zhongshu said, "Only a sage can unite all things into one and connect them to the origin!"
"What do you mean?" Zhang Xuezhou blinked.
"The interaction between Celestial Person and humanity is merely a matter of learning; only a sage who has thoroughly understood the Spring and Autumn Annals can truly govern Heaven and Celestial Person," Dong Zhongshu said. "In the present world, Your Majesty is the head. If Your Majesty can accept the Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity, he will surely take the sage as his guiding principle and thus seek a comprehensive and unified state!"
"Unified?"
"Indeed, once His Majesty experiences the benefits of the Unity of Celestial Person and Heaven, it will inevitably change His Majesty. He will not remain confined to this corner of Chang'an, but will instead seek a comprehensive and unified understanding through his ideals, thus readily invoking the interaction Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity," Dong Zhongshu said. "He will inevitably pursue the path of the sages, and this ideal will lead His Majesty to push for the unification of the Great Han Dynasty, with the King of Huainan being the first to bear the brunt!"
Does the "Chunqiu Fanlu" also contain the theory of "Great Unification"?
Dong Zhongshu's words are quite mystical. This "Great Unification" is not the unification of a large country in the normal sense. "Great" refers to being powerful and influential, "One" is the origin, and "Unification" is the beginning. "Unification" is the Yuanshi, Yuanshi is all things (including the country).
This seeks unification in all aspects, from the body and mind to social connections, in order to obtain the Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity that allows for timely mobilization, and the unification of the Great Han Dynasty is one such aspect.
Zhang Xuezhou was confused at first, but after Dong Zhongshu explained it, he realized that this was the second half of the "Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity".
The technique of "Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity" has great drawbacks. Seeking Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity is extremely difficult. Not only did its teacher, Dong Zhongshu, have to rely on luck, but Gongsun Hong, Zhang Xuezhou, and others also relied purely on luck. Seeking Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity when encountering danger was almost a death wish.
Zhang Xuezhou had only guided the Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity a few times, and the few times he had done so were the few times he had taken Suoyang, which brought him great benefits. Even though he had guided the fusion of the Law of Heaven, the Body Technique, the Interaction Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity, Technique Within the Clouds, he could hardly repeat it now.
After Dong Zhongshu's repeated explanations, Zhang Xuezhou finally understood how to normalize the Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity.
"You're using Jiangdu to cultivate your fortune-telling techniques, are you seeking to achieve some kind of 'unification' in Jiangdu, thereby connecting fortune with the interaction between Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity, and even guiding the opportunity to reach the True Self Realm?" Zhang Xuezhou asked.
"Yes!"
Dong Zhongshu's expression showed a slight change.
If he could utilize the Celestial Person State at any time when attempting to break through to a higher realm, his chances of achieving the True Self Realm, which was less than 10%, would increase to 30%, 50%, or even 70%.
It is true that they seek to utilize the fortune of Jiangdu, a land of the nation, and also to realize their ideals.
By employing multiple approaches, combining mental, spiritual, and external support, Dong Zhongshu was able to achieve his goals.
After Dong Zhongshu explained it again, Zhang Xuezhou still felt somewhat confused.
His cultivation had reached the Divine Ability Realm, but at this point he was still at the stage of accumulating Law Power to trigger a qualitative change and break through the realm. How could he possibly know about Dong Zhongshu's strange and mysterious things?
He pondered the True Self Realm cultivators he had encountered, and also considered the various conditions mentioned by Dong Zhongshu. He felt that Dong Zhongshu's content did not seem to involve True Self Realm cultivators in the conventional sense.
"Isn't it normal to not need so many to advance to the True Self Realm?" Zhang Xuezhou asked, puzzled.
"Normally, we don't need to use them," Dong Zhongshu said, pursing his lips slightly. "But possessing all of these means possessing a foundation that won't fall behind others!"
"You mean that anyone who enters the True Self Realm in this way will be very powerful?" Zhang Xuezhou asked doubtfully.
Dong Zhongshu ultimately did not verify Zhang Xuezhou's question.
People naturally admire strength, and those who admire strength will move towards it.
Dong Zhongshu will be no exception, Zhang Xuezhou will be no exception, and the new emperor will be no exception.
Anyone who has experienced this will inevitably have the thought that drives them to constantly seek it out.
In this pursuit, many stumbling blocks will undoubtedly be kicked aside.
Clearly, for the new emperor who held imperial power, the King of Huainan was bound to be the biggest obstacle to his smooth unification.
Dong Zhongshu did not answer, but Zhang Xuezhou's heart was filled with turmoil.
Zhang Xuezhou vaguely sensed that Dong Zhongshu's methods and what 'Bai' was doing had some similarities, namely, the pursuit of absolute control.
Whether it's the favor Bai constantly gathers, or the Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity that Dong Zhongshu mobilizes after his 'unification,' it all signifies control.
Although the people chose different paths, they all shared the same goal: to climb to a higher place.
"Is this what it means to be the True Self?"
Recalling the extraordinary transformation mentioned by Divine Lord Zhenyuan, Zhang Xuezhou felt that Dong Zhongshu's theory of the Great Unity of Sages had evolved to another level.
That involves something beyond the True Self, and it could very well be the path that Hongjun once walked.
