The Purpose of the Pursuit
As a military base in Western Capital City, outsiders are obviously not allowed to bring firearms or other weapons when entering.
With the exception of the invited members of the sequence committee, Ning Que, Song Sijia, Jin Shixue, and others did not bring any weapons.
Ning Que grabbed a chair, Song Sijia found a seat at the back and tried her luck by unleashing the Dragon Might Combat Technique, Jin Shixue unbuckled his belt, and Song Bu'er held the broken Song 999 version gun, his eyes darting around.
Wang Ziming and Min Ziyan dragged Lin Qingyu, whose scalp was bleeding, to a corner of the reception room, and used a coffee table to block her way, taking the best precautions they could.
The piercing alarms outside the security center building continued, but the slightest rustling sounds in the corridors seemed to echo even louder in everyone's minds.
"Bang!"
The sound of the door to the next room being violently kicked open came from nearby, and everyone held their breath.
Then came the sound of breaking glass.
"His night vision seems to be average, and his perception isn't very strong either!"
Upon hearing the voice, Ning Que's heart stirred, realizing that the opponent Song Bu'er had described was not perfect.
"Perhaps those two shots had some effect," Song Bu'er frowned. "When he was chasing me, he followed me every step of the way, no matter where I hid!"
"He's still keeping an eye on you, but his accuracy has dropped a bit!"
After the sound of shattering glass, footsteps grew closer in the corridor, heading towards the reception room where everyone was.
"Bang!"
Another violent kick to the door rang out.
However, compared to the locked door next to them, this door was only slightly ajar.
The door wasn't kicked down; when it was kicked open so quickly, the foot that kicked it clearly used too much force and stepped into the room.
"Hey!"
Ning Que exhaled and made a sound, then threw a chair at the other person's head. His hands, which had come off the chair, quickly grabbed the other person's thigh and pulled him.
A heavy feeling, like pulling on a block of iron, came over Ning Que. He felt that Song Bu'er had made too many omissions in his information. This opponent's body was also very heavy, and his small grappling skills would almost completely counter it.
His dragging hands transformed into tiger claws in the brief moment of contact, repeatedly grabbing and squeezing the vital points of the opponent's right leg as it kicked the door.
A sharp pain shot through his fingers, and Ning Que realized that the other party's reaction had returned to normal, and the opportunity he had seized first was gone.
As his opponent swept his right leg across, Ning Que swiftly flipped backward, using his agile movements to dodge the attack.
"Smack!"
The sound of Jin Shixue's belt whipping across the floor rang out, followed by a slight groan from the recoil.
"He's completely unaffected by my Dragon Might Combat Technique!"
Song Sijia shouted, while Song Bu'er took several steps back.
Although the shadowy figure was attacked repeatedly, the opponent's attention remained fixed on Song Bu'er, as if he would not give up until he killed Song Bu'er.
The burly, black figure, like Zhou Rihui with his invincible body, remained silent after being attacked, blocking the entrance like a city wall, and then raised his right hand, pointing at Song Bu'er who was slowly retreating.
If he hadn't been holding a gun and hadn't opened his eyes, almost no one would have noticed Song Bu'er.
Like a chameleon, Song Bu'er can change his surroundings in perfect harmony with his environment, even right under someone's nose, using this ability to conceal himself.
For a skilled firearms Sequence Holder, Song Bu'er's stealth ability was extremely dangerous, giving the opponent a significant advantage when sniping him.
A burly figure blocked the doorway, shook his head to knock off the chair that had hit him on the head, and then looked around the room.
The dimly lit environment negatively impacted observation, but this room was clearly not a good place to escape; it was a dead end. The only way to find a new escape route was to break a window and jump from the eighth floor.
The attention was swept away in an instant, and the shadowy figure then swept out with its large hand, striking out like a fan.
"What kind of fighting style is this? The body is so flexible!"
Ning Que's claws failed to strike, and Jin Shixue lashed out with his belt, almost hitting him. He staggered back several steps, nearly ending up in the same position as Ning Que.
My fingernail almost split open!
Ning Que replied in a low voice.
Clearly, this is not an opponent that can be overpowered and controlled. Perhaps the only way to deal with it is through guerrilla tactics to find a weakness.
The two shifted their feet, cautiously guarding against each other, but what surprised Ning Que and Jin Shixue was that the other's eyes were fixed on Song Bu'er, and he didn't seem to care about them at all, even ignoring them.
"Dad, what a terrible thing you did to him! He completely ignores us!"
Song Sijia's Dragon Might Combat Technique had no effect, but she also keenly noticed that the burly, dark figure at the door was staring at Song Bu'er.
She couldn't help but offer a reminder, which made Song Bu'er blink slightly.
"We only killed sixteen of those things that were either human or monsters," Song Bu'er said in a low voice. "Old Ren told me I only needed to kill one, but I had no idea they would come in droves. We simply didn't have enough bullets!"
"You only have eighteen bullets in this gun?" Song Sijia said dejectedly, "Brother Zhang said he really wanted to be able to fire a gun to his heart's content. If you had designed it according to his ideas earlier, this wouldn't have happened!"
"A real gun only needs one bullet!"
Song Bu'er retorted, indicating that firing a quick and satisfying shot was the least effective method.
But he must admit that having ample ammunition isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Seeing the shadowy figure blocking the doorway and watching them advance step by step, Ning Que and Jin Shixue cautiously searched for an opportunity around them, while Song Bu'er also retreated step by step.
"He seems to have his eye on those color-changing clothes you're wearing!"
As everyone was locked in a stalemate, a voice came from the corner of the wall. Lin Ziming peeked out from behind the coffee table and reminded the shadowy figure of why he was watching Song Bu'er.
"He smelled of burnt soybean protein, just like the smell of burning soybean oil when we test it!"
Lin Qingyu, lying on the ground, mumbled something and then shrank her head further, her ears ringing and her vision blurring.
"It's... it's Emperor Luo Li... Emperor Luo Li, the headless emperor, is back again!"
Min Ziyan trembled and whispered, sensing a similar aura between the approaching figure and the imperial tomb of Luo Li.
Not long after his previous nightmare-like descent into madness, the same smell surged into his mind, and Min Ziyan felt as if the nightmare had returned.
"What do you mean he's missing a brain? His head is perfectly fine!"
Song Sijia cursed under her breath, then turned on the small light attached to the communicator and shone it directly on the dark figure.
A round, mottled, blackish-yellow head came into view, and Song Sijia's eyes involuntarily twitched.
It's normal for the color of the head and face to be a little off, but the head she was shining with light on had no eyes, no nose, no ears, and no mouth.
The black shadows chasing Song Bu'er were dressed in all black and had limbs and bodies, but no facial features. They were not normal humans and did not seem to be the result of genetically induced physical changes.
"Knock him down!"
Song Sijia only saw the abnormal appearance of the shadowy figure when she used her light, while Jin Shixue had an idea and spoke up. Ning Que also nodded, and the two of them attacked from the front and back.
Clearly, in the short time that Song Sijia illuminated her opponent, Jin Shixue had already discovered the opponent's potential weakness.
