It's Been Three Years!

I checked the book's publication date yesterday and realized it's been three years since I started writing it!

For someone like me who has no sense of time, I get up, have breakfast, start typing, have lunch, continue typing, finish three chapters, have dinner, and then repeat the process the next day. The time I experience seems very short, as if I started typing and writing just yesterday.

But three years have indeed passed. Three years ago, we were caught in the sudden outbreak of the pandemic. Three years later, there was the September 3rd military parade, rare earth controls, and so on. Our country has gone from the trough to breaking through the darkness. The changes are so great that it seems like a different world.

Three years ago, I was busy welcoming my newborn child, taking care of my wife during childbirth, preparing three meals a day, postpartum care, newborn care, and taking my five-year-old to school. Life was almost overwhelming. Now, my three-year-old can already use a keyboard to type numbers from one to ten, can say some idioms, and gets along well with his older sister who is five years older (I especially want to circle his sister; after being taken to school twice when she entered first grade, she knew she could go to school by herself without needing to be picked up or dropped off. Now in third grade, she has also learned to cook, makes her own breakfast for school, and can complete her homework independently).

Writing books provides me with more flexible hours, allowing me to stay home and take care of my family every day, and the royalties also enable our small family to live a relatively stable life.

The first chapter of this book was uploaded three weeks after the baby was born.

To be honest, the book was written in a hurry given the living conditions at the time. It didn't pass the internal submission and was only signed after 20,000 words were published directly.

The editor's judgment was very accurate; this book has significant flaws.

Some readers prefer historical fiction, while others prefer modern fiction, but the number of readers who fall into both categories is not very large.

This kind of dual-world story has alienated too many readers. The book's title and synopsis also have problems. Normally, it would be better for this book to flop and be rewritten as soon as possible. But a book is like your own child; even if it's ugly, it's still your own child.

At the time, I just wanted to write more to give this flawed book a new lease on life, but I never expected that it would take three years.

Special thanks to the readers who followed me through the first two books; your understanding, trust, and continued subscriptions gave me the courage to write about the growth of this imperfect child.

Now, the book has exceeded 7 million words, a length that has exceeded my expectations.

The old editor has passed away, the new editor has also passed away, and the current editor has asked me about the ending. At this length, it's indeed time to discuss the conclusion.

I estimate that it will take about three more months to process the final steps, and it will most likely be completed around the Spring Festival.

While the timeline might seem a bit rushed, considering the monthly word count, I should be able to write at least 700,000 to 800,000 words during this period. Many authors only write about that many words in a single book, so I think I have enough words to use as the ending.

The ending is already in concept; it won't be as detached as the first two books.

Now we are constantly filling in the gaps, trying to fill in the gaps related to the Western Sect, the Immortal Court, Qin Meng, Huo Qubing, and the Western Expeditions of the Great Han Dynasty.

My health has been so-so for the past three years. I've received donations from guild leaders and other generous rewards, but I just haven't been able to keep up with my update schedule. It's not that I'm being lazy or shirking my responsibilities; it's just that my body can't support updating 10,000 words a day anymore. Before, a cold would only take about a week to get better, but now it can last for more than 20 days.

This autumn/winter cold, which started in October and has only just begun to subside, is finally coming to an end.

When I have a cold, my typing speed is very slow, and I often use up the drafts I had saved up when I had a chance to speed up.

I used to be able to stay up until 2 a. m. writing, but now after staying up all night, my body feels Kongxu that I just want to lie down.

This is probably the sub-healthy state of a typical homebody in middle age.

Therefore, the updates will continue at a steady three chapters a day, aiming to conclude with a grand reunion during the Spring Festival.

There's still some time left, and I hope everyone will continue to subscribe and accompany this book to the end.

Please subscribe!

Grateful!
