A Medical Miracle!
Modern world, Eagle Sauce Country.
Chen Feng stepped out of the painting scroll, appearing inside an abandoned warehouse.
After putting away the scroll that had been hanging on the warehouse wall, Chen Feng called an ambulance.
He had a tourist visa, so there was no problem with his identity. Even if an Eagle Sauce hospital looked into him, they wouldn't find anything.
He still needed to have his body checked at a hospital before he could put his mind at ease.
About an hour later, an ambulance arrived near the warehouse, its lights flashing.
Chen Feng walked over to the ambulance. When the nurses saw him, they were a little surprised.
"Did you call for an ambulance?"
The blond, blue-eyed nurse frowned deeply.
Chen Feng didn't look as though he was in serious enough condition to need an ambulance.
"Yes, I did. My ribs are broken. Hurry and take me to the hospital to get them checked."
Chen Feng's startling words shocked the two nurses.
"What? Your ribs are broken?"
No matter how they looked at him, Chen Feng didn't seem like someone with broken ribs.
Who could stand there and talk so calmly with broken ribs?
"Can you stop asking questions for now? Just take me to the hospital first."
The two nurses didn't dare delay and hurriedly helped Chen Feng into the ambulance.
The vehicle soon headed for the hospital.
"How did you end up somewhere so remote? How did you break your ribs?"
A doctor accompanying the ambulance undid Chen Feng's clothes and examined him.
Chen Feng had given all his equipment to Wang Hu. All he had with him now was a suitcase containing clothes, the painting scroll, and the jade pendant.
Chen Feng was still very careful here in Eagle Sauce. If he was searched and weapons were found, there would still be some.
"I fell by accident."
The doctor clearly didn't quite believe Chen Feng's answer. Almost the entire area below his chest had caved in.
What kind of fall could do that?
He had clearly suffered a very severe impact.
"There's a risk of internal bleeding. You need a CT scan. Doesn't it hurt?" the doctor asked, looking at Chen Feng in surprise.
Chen Feng really did have broken ribs, and more than one at that.
Yet he didn't have the slightest trace of pain on his face.
Instead, he looked completely at ease.
The nurses in the ambulance also looked at Chen Feng curiously.
"It hurts a lot, but I can bear it." Chen Feng actually wasn't in that much pain. After taking the pill, he felt much better.
The doctor and nurses all gave Chen Feng strange looks.
The ambulance soon brought Chen Feng to the hospital.
After the CT scan, the thoracic surgeon in charge of diagnosing Chen Feng was left dumbfounded.
"Oh! God. Are you a monster?"
In the emergency room, the attending physician stared at the CT images in disbelief.
Several other doctors gathered around to take a look, and in an instant, everyone sucked in a breath of cold air.
The CT scan showed that three of Chen Feng's ribs were broken.
They had even broken into several pieces. A normal person would probably have suffered internal bleeding and been sent to the ICU by now.
But their examination found no signs of internal bleeding in Chen Feng.
Not only that, the CT scan showed that Chen Feng's broken ribs had actually joined back together, and new tissue had already appeared.
If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, the doctors would never have believed such a thing could happen.
Chen Feng breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the CT images.
It seemed a Xiantian expert's healing pill was extraordinarily powerful. Even broken bones could regenerate quickly.
"I should be fine, right?" Chen Feng asked.
The stunned doctor immediately said, "At this rate of regeneration and recovery, we won't need to operate on you. Sir, a medical miracle has happened to you!"
The doctor looked at Chen Feng with excitement, as did the other doctors.
They were eager to know why such a change had occurred in Chen Feng's body.
Several of his ribs were clearly broken, yet he acted as though nothing were wrong, and they could even repair themselves.
Was that still a human constitution?
"If I'm fine, I'll be going." Knowing he was all right, Chen Feng got out of bed and prepared to leave.
Just then, the attending physician called out to him. "Sir, could you give me a little of your blood so we can run some tests?"
The doctor looked at Chen Feng with a hungry gaze.
A chill of revulsion ran through Chen Feng.
It reminded him of those secret experiments abroad. Even Einstein's brain had been sliced up after his death, so one could imagine how crazy those research maniacs abroad were.
"No time!"
With that, Chen Feng left at a quick pace.
He certainly wasn't going to give them his blood. Who knew what they might discover from it?
The doctors kept trying to persuade Chen Feng to stay, but he ignored them completely.
Instead, he left the hospital and caught the next flight back to Dragon Country.
Dragon Country, Mountain City.
After an overnight flight, Chen Feng finally returned to his motherland.
Only then did he relax.
With those doctors having set their sights on him, Chen Feng had been afraid someone would stop him on the plane.
He took a taxi to the Xingfeng Mining plant.
The plant had completely changed.
A new guard booth had been built at the entrance, where two soldiers stood guard.
The entire plant had also been surrounded with wire fencing, making it look like a restricted military zone.
When the two soldiers saw Chen Feng, they saluted him.
"Hello, Professor Chen."
The two soldiers greeted him.
Chen Feng, however, looked utterly bewildered. "Professor?"
Since when had he become a professor?
Seeing Chen Feng's confusion, one of the soldiers spoke up:
"Professor Chen, you're now a professor registered with the Dragon Academy of Sciences. The paperwork from above has already been delivered."
Hearing this, Chen Feng immediately figured it was probably a title the state had given him.
Generally, once your social standing rose, you didn't need to build up your own image. Someone would do it for you.
After chatting with the two soldiers for a bit, Chen Feng entered the plant.
The plant was still on break, and the workers had all been given time off.
When he reached the plant office, Chen Feng spotted Li Xiaorou sitting at a desk, writing something.
Today, Li Xiaorou wore a white skirt suit instead of her work clothes.
Li Xiaorou was quite good-looking. When Chen Feng chose a secretary, ability came first and looks second.
If she wasn't good-looking, he wouldn't enjoy looking at her.
Li Xiaorou, who had been bent over her writing, seemed to sense something. She looked up, and when she saw Chen Feng, she immediately stood.
"Boss, you're back from abroad. Did everything go smoothly?"
A smile appeared on Li Xiaorou's face.
Chen Feng nodded. "It went reasonably well. What are you working on?"
"It's a plan for the plant's production and development. I was preparing one for you to look over."
"The state has placed a very large order with us, so we need to arrange hiring and the expansion of the plant."
Seeing Li Xiaorou's conscientious attitude, Chen Feng nodded in satisfaction.
"Mm, good work."
As far as Chen Feng was concerned, he had no particular interest in power. If he had to handle everything at both the Xingfeng Sect and Xingfeng Mining himself, he'd be worked to death.
Sometimes he had to find people to help him, and someone like Li Xiaorou was well suited to the job.
She had just graduated from university and was full of youthful zeal.
She also didn't have the scheming mind of a seasoned member of society, and she was especially conscientious at work.
For an employee like her, a little more praise worked better than money at getting her to give her all.
