The Boss Broke the Laws of Heaven!
The moment the words "State Security" were spoken, the atmosphere in the office changed.
Chen Feng was not surprised to see two State Security officers arrive.
He knew it was only a matter of time before they came looking for him.
He just hadn't expected them to come so quickly. If he had come out of the Painting Scroll World any later, they would probably have caught him in the act.
He would have to be more careful from now on.
"I'm Chen Feng."
Chen Feng rose from the sofa.
The two crew-cut men walked up to Chen Feng, took out a photo, and compared it to him.
"Please come with us. We have some questions for you."
The crew-cut men were fairly polite and did not put Chen Feng in handcuffs or anything of the sort.
Zhang Dong could no longer sit still.
"Comrades, what crime has Boss Chen committed? How did it come to your attention?"
He was discussing a partnership with Chen Feng. If Chen Feng was taken away, what the hell was left to discuss?
"State secret. No comment."
With that, the two men took Chen Feng outside.
Seeing this, Zhang Dong and the female secretary immediately followed.
As soon as he stepped out of the office, Zhang Dong froze.
Because in the factory grounds,
seven or eight military vehicles were parked, with armed soldiers standing around them.
Every one of them was fully equipped.
The factory employees had also been gathered together.
They all looked frightened, and the sound of discussion continued.
"What's going on? Aren't we a mineral processing factory? Why are there so many troops here?"
"I don't know. It looks like they're here to arrest the boss."
"Did the boss break the laws of heaven? They've sent out both State Security and the army."
Zhang Dong had originally wanted to use his Chinese company's influence in Dragon Country to step forward and say a few words.
But seeing a lineup like this, he didn't dare speak up for the moment.
He merely asked the female secretary in a low voice:
"What happened at your factory? Were you making nuclear bombs or something?"
As far as Zhang Dong was concerned, other than making nuclear bombs, he really couldn't think of anything that would bring out such a show of force.
"I don't know."
The female secretary's face had also gone pale with fright.
The army had taken over the entire factory grounds, and soldiers were standing guard at the entrance.
The two State Security officers did not take Chen Feng away from the factory.
Instead, they escorted him into a military vehicle.
As soon as he entered, Chen Feng saw three people.
One of them was wearing a military uniform.
The other two were old men wearing glasses, both looking at Chen Feng with curiosity.
The man in uniform held out his hand to Chen Feng:
"Hello, Mr. Chen. I'm Liu Mu, a division chief at the Army Western Theater Command Strategic Equipment Department. These two are Director Hu of the Dragon Country Academy of Basic Materials Science and Professor Li Busheng of the Institute of Metals Research, respectively."
Chen Feng was surprised when he heard who the three men were.
Each of them was a towering figure in Dragon Country's official circles.
Chen Feng shook Liu Mu's hand and asked:
"Leaders, have I committed a crime?"
Liu Mu smiled.
"Mr. Chen, you haven't committed a crime. We came so suddenly because this has to be kept confidential. We're here this time because of Blazing Sun Iron."
Chen Feng had known the three of them must have come for the Blazing Sun Iron.
Whether it was basic materials science or the Institute of Metals Research,
it was clear at a glance that they were connected to Blazing Sun Iron.
Li Busheng of the Institute of Metals Research took over:
"Let me explain. After studying the Blazing Sun Iron produced by your factory, we discovered that seventy percent of the material in this metal consists of substances we've never seen before. Its hardness and lightness are already comparable to carbon fiber."
Li Busheng's face was full of excitement as he spoke.
It had originally been just a minor traffic accident, and someone from the institute had gone to take a look out of curiosity.
As a result, they had discovered this astonishing Blazing Sun Iron.
Not only was it lightweight, but its hardness exceeded that of ninety percent of the metals on the market.
What did that mean?
If this material were used in the army's tanks and the air force's fighter jets,
they would receive a tremendous boost.
On top of that, this metal was who knew how much cheaper than carbon fiber.
If it could be used extensively in military equipment, military spending could be reduced considerably each year.
Director Hu from the academy of basic materials science also spoke:
"Based on our preliminary assessment, your metal should be a synthetic material. I'd like to know who at your factory synthesized it."
All eyes fell on Chen Feng.
If an ordinary person were facing questions from three top bosses, they would probably have spilled everything about eighteen generations of their ancestors by now.
But Chen Feng had spent a long time in the dangerous Painting Scroll World. What hadn't he seen?
"I developed it myself. For now, I can only produce a small amount."
Boom!
The atmosphere fell silent in an instant.
Developed it himself!
The owner of a small private factory had actually developed a metal comparable to carbon fiber himself?
And he had succeeded.
At that moment, the three of them could no longer remain calm.
They looked at Chen Feng as though he were an exceedingly rare treasure.
"Mr. Chen, there's no need to be nervous. The country won't seize your metal technology, and it won't force you to do anything. We came here mainly to discuss a partnership!"
Liu Mu spoke again.
Director Hu and Li Busheng both nodded.
A great many talented people were now leaving the country. Once they had developed some technology, they ran off abroad.
It made it look as though Dragon Country couldn't retain its talent.
"A partnership? What kind of partnership?" Chen Feng was somewhat surprised.
He had originally planned to brush them off, simply saying that he had developed it himself.
If they wanted him to hand it over, he would stall for time. He hadn't expected them to propose a partnership.
Liu Mu said:
"Starting today, your factory's Blazing Sun Iron will be supplied exclusively to our military and can no longer be sold elsewhere. At the same time, exports of this metal must be prohibited. Of course, we'll give your factory the greatest possible support and assistance."
"At the same time, we need to establish a small laboratory in your factory and station our researchers here. Would that be all right with you?"
Liu Mu was very polite.
He had no choice but to be polite. He had to win Chen Feng over.
"Well..."
Chen Feng was stunned for a moment. What was happening now was completely outside his expectations.
He had originally expected to be taken to a small, secret room for questioning.
"Don't worry, Boss Chen. Our researchers won't pry into your core technology. They're only here to help you take the processing of Blazing Sun Iron to the next level."
"If you need anything, just tell them."
Li Busheng thought Chen Feng was worried about his technology being stolen, so he offered an explanation.
"All right, I agree."
Chen Feng chose to agree. He had no other choice, and as far as he was concerned, this was already a pretty good outcome.
Although there was still an element of state oversight, they really weren't interfering with him too much.
As for building a laboratory at the factory, that didn't matter either. He only had to keep an eye on those people and stop them from entering the warehouse where the painting scroll was kept.
