The Society Falls Before Its First Battle
Zijin watched intently for a long while, then shook her head. "There's nothing in that stretch of sea, no ships and no magical fluctuations. Visibility is so good right now that there's no way anything could be hiding like the UFO."
Su Ming scanned the area repeatedly with radar, but he found no targets either. The water there was completely empty.
"Let's leave first," Su Ming decided. Unable to find any trace of the unknown enemy, he chose to be cautious.
"Shouldn't we sink a couple of pirate ships before we go?" Zijin looked at the four approaching raiding ships in puzzlement. "Kill a couple of chickens as a warning, so every Tom, Dick and Harry doesn't dare come looking for trouble with us."

Su Ming increased the propeller speed, and the White Triangle headed straight for the shallows around Clear Spring Reef.
As a failed warship design, the littoral combat ship had long been criticized for its "combat" capabilities. But there was no problem with its "littoral" capabilities: the original Independence class had a draft of only four meters.
The White Triangle was a shallow-water ship to begin with, so Su Ming's earlier trip through Clear Spring Reef's channel had only been for show. They could cross the surrounding shallows at any time; they just had to watch out for the few reefs scattered around.
And so, in full view of more than a dozen pirate ships, the White Triangle brazenly sailed out of the reef area, picking up speed all the while.
The pirates scrambled to adjust again. Some ships raised their sails in pursuit, while
