Ch. 1Transmigration

Su Ming and a truck driver encountered a mysterious figure and a black sphere on the highway, then were pushed through the sphere into an eerie bone-built hall. Su Ming realized he had transmigrated and found the wormhole shattered, leaving him stranded.

  • Su Ming and the driver saw a floating black sphere and a figure appear on the highway.
  • The figure deflected two cars into the sphere and built a bone prison around himself.
  • The truck crashed into the prison, and a vehicle behind them struck the truck, driving it and Su Ming into the sphere.
  • Su Ming passed through a curtain of light and emerged in a vast, ancient-looking hall as the truck followed.
  • Su Ming explored the hall with a flashlight and found the wormhole had vanished, leaving shattered crystals and mysterious symbols.

Ch. 2Ambushed

Su Ming found the old man Galio beneath the truck, but Galio revived as a lich and attacked him. A mysterious woman explained Galio's magic and warned that he would be difficult to stop, leaving Su Ming's attacks ineffective as Galio continued regenerating.

  • Su Ming searched beneath the truck for the mysterious traveler and found the badly injured old man Galio, whom he assumed was dead.
  • As Su Ming rummaged through Galio's backpack, Galio twitched and reached for him, so Su Ming struck him with a crowbar and fled.
  • A woman spoke to Su Ming through Mind Synchronization and explained that Galio's spell imprints were transforming him into a lich.
  • The woman told Su Ming that Galio could not cast spells yet, but Galio began forcing his way out from beneath the truck.
  • Su Ming struck Galio's arms with a crowbar and dropped the truck back onto him, but Galio survived and repaired his injuries.
  • Su Ming jumped from the truck and stabbed Galio in the head, but the crowbar bounced away and Death Coil quickly healed the damage.

Ch. 3Kill

Su Ming set Galio on fire to stop his lich transformation, but Galio abandoned it and immobilized him with a curse. As White Bone revealed that she served Galio and could not disobey his order, ghostly bone spears formed to kill Su Ming.

  • Su Ming soaked Galio in diesel and set him alight, then watched the truck's tires explode and its rims crush Galio as the fire continued.
  • After the blaze left Galio charred, Su Ming poured on more diesel, but Galio opened his eyes and trapped him with the Dark Edict curse.
  • White Bone explained that Galio had abandoned his transformation and was weakened by the backlash, but had summoned another spellcaster to kill Su Ming.
  • White Bone admitted that Galio was her master and introduced herself before twenty ghostly bone spears gathered around the immobilized Su Ming.

Ch. 4Spirit Awakening

Su Ming survived Galio’s cremation and received the Spirit Awakening Technique, which made him a novice necromancer. White Bone explained that the Temple of Light had surrounded them and began preparing Su Ming to escape and potentially rebuild the Plane Transfer Magic Array.

  • Su Ming used a difficult math problem to break his mental link with White Bone, then recovered from paralysis and set fire to Galio’s remains.
  • A ghost resembling Galio grabbed Su Ming, and Galio’s sacrifice awakened Su Ming’s magical knowledge and granted him basic necromancy.
  • White Bone warned Su Ming not to touch the high-ranking White Bone Mark that emerged from Galio’s dissolving soul.
  • White Bone revealed that an entire temple legion surrounded them and that Galio and his followers had been trapped after a failed resistance.
  • White Bone gave Su Ming the remaining array materials and began explaining the Plane Transfer Magic Array so he could learn to escape.

Ch. 5Magic Waste

Su Ming discovered that Galio’s Undead Spirit Awakening had marked him with undead fluctuations, even though White Bone confirmed he had no control over any of the six magical elements. While they remained surrounded by the Temple of Light, White Bone tried to understand how Su Ming could cast spells and used corpses to teach him a language.

  • White Bone explained that undead fluctuations could be tracked and realized Su Ming had received the same mark after Galio used Undead Spirit Awakening on him.
  • White Bone examined Su Ming and found no elemental affinity, while Su Ming demonstrated that he could cast Withering Orb.
  • White Bone said the Temple of Light surrounded them and was waiting for her own people to arrive and punish her for betraying them.
  • Su Ming took instant noodles and hot water from his vehicle and asked White Bone about her actual body, which was at the top of the tower.
  • White Bone used the corpses of Galio’s educated subordinates to cast Comprehend Languages on Su Ming, despite the spell taking a week to imprint the language.

Ch. 6Skeleton

Su Ming discovered that an inherited Undead Mark had activated a skeleton, and he used Spirit Vision to find it. The skeleton was on Earth at the devastated expressway where Su Ming had transmigrated, and he saw emergency crews and the souls of several dead people but could not cast Speak with the Dead across worlds.

  • Su Ming felt Sensory Interference, and White Bone explained that an undead creature was causing it.
  • Su Ming found an activated Undead Mark inherited through Galio’s Spirit Awakening Technique and eventually connected to the skeleton.
  • Su Ming used Spirit Vision to see the skeleton and a crowd nearby, then controlled the skeleton to rise and clean off its remains.
  • Su Ming recognized the road and cars as part of the expressway on Earth where he had transmigrated.
  • Su Ming saw a crater, emergency vehicles, and the dissipating souls of about seven or eight people, including the truck driver.
  • Su Ming tried to cast Speak with the Dead on the truck driver but could not invoke the spell’s runes across worlds.

Ch. 7Disappointment

Su Ming learned that his unusual undead magic came from an awakened affinity for space, but White Bone explained that mastering spatial magic would take years. Unable to prove his true ability or use it to escape the immediate danger, Su Ming considered claiming he came from another world.

  • Su Ming planned to hide the skeleton at his machine shop and set out with it under cover of night to retrieve his belongings.
  • White Bone reestablished Mind Synchronization and proposed that Su Ming’s crossing between worlds had triggered elemental resonance.
  • White Bone concluded that Su Ming had awakened the space element and used it to control Galio’s skeleton across planes.
  • Su Ming asked how to control space, but White Bone said it would require years of research and offered no help against their immediate danger.
  • Su Ming suggested trading knowledge of his spatial affinity for their lives, but White Bone pointed out that he had no proof.
  • Su Ming asked whether saying he was from another world would help.

Ch. 8Hiding

Su Ming hid Little Spiky Head in an unused storage room on Earth, then returned to White Bone’s tower and watched a battle erupt around them. After recovering from the attack, he asked White Bone to teach him advanced spells and began studying undead summoning.

  • Su Ming controlled Little Spiky Head into the factory dormitory, gathered supplies, and hid the skeleton in a barricaded fourth-floor storage room before falling asleep.
  • Su Ming’s alarm woke him after only two hours, and White Bone invited him to the top of the tower for the view.
  • White Bone urgently shielded Su Ming when arrows and fireballs struck the tower, then brought him downstairs after he was shaken by his first battlefield experience.
  • White Bone said the skeleton serving them was not her true body and hinted that Su Ming had already seen her.
  • Su Ming asked White Bone to teach him advanced spells, and she gave him a book on undead summoning; he activated its forty-two-rune spell formula.

Ch. 9Hope

Su Ming tested undead magic with White Bone and discovered that spells could not target Earth across worlds, but their effects could. He found a way to transfer materials between worlds by assembling a model from matching materials, giving him hope of surviving in the other world.

  • White Bone taught Su Ming the simplest Undead Summoning formula, and he successfully created a bone ball from a pile of bones.
  • Su Ming failed to summon a bone bead from a mouse corpse on Earth and found that Undead Enhancement also could not affect Little Spiky Head across worlds, though Damage Transfer worked.
  • White Bone used Su Ming’s power bank as a model for Undead Summoning, and fragments from a car assembled into a matching power bank while the original crumbled.
  • Su Ming realized he could transfer objects between worlds by assembling them from matching materials, and a bolt from Earth appeared in his hand as its counterpart crumbled.
  • Su Ming broke down in tears at the discovery, then woke after five hours and found that White Bone had sorted the truck and two cars into piles.

Ch. 10Planning

Su Ming assessed the enemies’ land, sea, and air pursuit ranges with White Bone and proposed escaping by ship if they could meet the required speed. Back on Earth, he considered contacting someone for help but decided the risks of revealing Little Spiky Head were too great.

  • Su Ming and White Bone surveyed the cliff and exchanged details about her flight abilities and the enemy’s forces and ships.
  • Su Ming calculated pursuit ranges across land and sea, while White Bone explained that fleeing by air or land was hopeless and recalled Galio’s failed sea escape.
  • Su Ming proposed using wind propulsion to escape by sea, and White Bone said her ship form could not reach the necessary speed.
  • Su Ming asked how much the Tower of White Bone weighed.
  • On Earth, Su Ming charged a phone for Little Spiky Head, but could not log in or contact anyone because the phone lacked a SIM card and required verification.
  • Su Ming decided against seeking help, fearing that people would dismiss his story or have Little Spiky Head seized before they could assist.

Ch. 11The Steam Engine

Su Ming transported a steam engine and boiler to White Bone’s world to prepare her ship for escape, but the spell exhausted him and left the propulsion system incomplete. After recovering, he returned to the shipyard to gather the tools and parts needed for installation.

  • Su Ming disguised himself, stole a motorcycle, and rode to a shipbuilding factory more than 120 kilometers away.
  • Su Ming found plans for a 3,000-ton cargo ship with a biomass boiler and Curtis steam engine, choosing the simple system because it suited their fuel, time, and skill limits.
  • Su Ming and White Bone prepared matching materials, and Su Ming used his spell to transport the boiler and steam engine, then fainted from the strain.
  • White Bone woke Su Ming after nine hours, and he recovered without lasting effects from the spell.
  • Su Ming used Little Spiky Head to collect drills, cutting machines, hand tools, measuring tools, screws, and spare parts for installing the propulsion system.

Ch. 12Assembly

Su Ming gathered ship documents and equipment, then assembled a steam-powered system with White Bone and her zombie servants. With the main components mounted and connected, he continued preparing the machinery while White Bone handled fuel, water, and the Temple of Light Legion’s harassment.

  • Su Ming copied the ship’s blueprints and manuals, left a note signed Little Spiky Head, and transferred propulsion parts and a generator from the shipyard.
  • Su Ming hid in an abandoned factory, slept, and began assembling the steam engine with help from White Bone and her zombies.
  • Su Ming and White Bone built a level bone-material platform, drilled mounting holes, and secured the power system to it.
  • Su Ming connected the steam engine to the gearbox and used dark-element corrosion to weld the pipes.
  • Su Ming read the manuals and checked the equipment while White Bone prepared fuel and water.

Ch. 13Electricity

Su Ming and White Bone prepared fuel and water for their escape plan while Su Ming built an electrical system to power the steam engine’s controls. After leaving the tower’s preparations underway, Su Ming rode Little Spiky Head to retrieve his hidden motorcycle and avoided the recently robbed shipyard.

  • Su Ming had White Bone and the zombies gather biomass and set up a freezing-based seawater desalination process, which White Bone improved with heat exchange.
  • Archbishop Stanton visited the tower, burned the hillside vegetation, and left after White Bone restrained her anger.
  • White Bone set up a zombie-operated fuel-chopping line and improved the water-cooling process, while Su Ming planned to help her earn a new title if they survived.
  • Su Ming connected the vehicle batteries, inverter, and generator into a circuit to power the modern equipment and recharge the batteries while the steam engine ran.
  • Su Ming controlled Little Spiky Head to retrieve his hidden motorcycle and rode away, avoiding the recently robbed shipyard.

Ch. 14The White Bone Mark

Su Ming and White Bone tested the steam escape system after White Bone found an alchemical way to produce deionized water. The engine worked, and White Bone asked Su Ming to take her to see the wider world if they survived.

  • Su Ming bought an air compressor and electrical supplies on Earth and summoned them to the otherworld.
  • Su Ming discovered there was no resin for making deionized water, but White Bone said alchemy could produce a limited amount.
  • Su Ming filled the boiler and cooling system with deionized water, tested the equipment, and started the steam engine.
  • Su Ming confirmed that the propeller worked and could drive the vessel at fourteen knots once it was in the water.
  • White Bone asked Su Ming to take her to places she had never seen if they survived, and he promised to do so while he remained in her world.

Ch. 15White Bone Fortress

White Bone gave Su Ming the White Bone Mark and showed him the memory of her creation, revealing the promises she made to the dead of the Bloody Wasteland. Su Ming removed the mark’s restrictions, allowing White Bone to take her human form, and began speaking the other world’s language.

  • White Bone explained that the White Bone Mark could release her full power and asked Su Ming to accept it; he took the mark and was drawn into its memory.
  • White Bone showed Su Ming how Russell’s forbidden creation magic had gathered the battlefield’s bones to form the White Bone Fortress, where she was born through a pact with the dead.
  • White Bone explained that she had promised the dead she would travel and leave a mark on the world, and Su Ming promised to help fulfill their wishes.
  • Back in the present, Su Ming manifested the White Bone Mark and removed its gray restrictions under White Bone’s guidance.
  • White Bone appeared in her purple-haired human form, and Su Ming successfully spoke the other world’s language as she advised him to keep practicing.

Ch. 16Model Ship

Su Ming prepared to transform the White Bone Fortress into a ship, learning that White Bone could not help with the spatial design. After arranging a custom hull model and collecting its delivery, he realized armed police officers were watching the package and suspected they had traced his online purchase records.

  • Su Ming asked White Bone about her abilities, and she explained that her spiritual form could coexist with the fortress but that he would have to control its transformation himself.
  • Su Ming recalled ordering a basic hull design and a stainless-steel ship model, paying extra to speed up design and delivery.
  • Su Ming sent Little Spiky Head to collect the package from a roadside supermarket after the courier left it there.
  • Su Ming spotted armed officers concealed in cars near the supermarket and realized they were watching the package rather than pursuing Little Spiky Head.
  • Su Ming suspected the officers had tracked him through his Taobao purchase records and wondered why they were armed and preparing to arrest him.

Ch. 17The Hull

Su Ming escaped a police pursuit with the model ship and transferred it to the White Bone Fortress, where he and White Bone prepared its design and escape route. White Bone chose a dangerous route through the Pearl Duchy Navy, and Su Ming began considering how to quiet the ship’s steam engine.

  • Su Ming fled the police on Little Spiky Head, escaped into the countryside, and discovered that a sniper had shot the undead body.
  • Su Ming opened the package and transferred the model ship to the White Bone Fortress, where he and White Bone discussed its design and planned rooms.
  • Su Ming and White Bone confirmed that a rainstorm was coming and examined a nautical chart to choose an escape direction.
  • White Bone rejected the apparently weak southeastern route as a trap and picked a path near the Pearl Duchy Navy’s warships.
  • Su Ming warned that the steam engine could give them away and said he could reduce its noise using the white bone mark.

Ch. 18Escape

Su Ming and White Bone assembled the White Bone Fortress into a steam-powered semi-submersible and launched it from the sea cliff during a storm. The ship slipped away beneath the waves while White Bone distracted the temple forces, who eventually mistook the launch for a cliff collapse.

  • Su Ming built porous bone plates and, with White Bone, finished preparing the fortress and its engine room for conversion into a ship.
  • Su Ming opened a funnel in the tower to collect rainwater, then White Bone pushed the ship sections off the cliff as Su Ming assembled the hull in midair.
  • Su Ming flooded the ballast tanks and started the boiler, steam engine, gearbox, and propeller, sending the fortress into motion as a semi-submersible.
  • Temple sentries raised the alarm, and White Bone intercepted twelve Solar Flame attacks aimed at the tower.
  • Su Ming guided the submerged ship away beneath the cliff's shadow while the temple's detection spells found nothing unusual and the forces blamed the noise on a cliff collapse.

Ch. 19Zhiyuan

White Bone and Su Ming escaped the Temple of Light by transforming the Tower of White Bone into a steam-powered ship and charging through the Pearl Duchy's fleet. As Su Ming named the ship Zhiyuan, Ship No. 2 began a magical attack.

  • White Bone recovered from deceiving the Temple priests' detection spell, then plunged the Tower of White Bone into the sea with Su Ming.
  • Su Ming assembled the Zhiyuan underwater, raised it to the surface, and powered it with wood salvaged from sunken ships.
  • White Bone activated the ship's magic array as Su Ming drove the Zhiyuan toward the Pearl Duchy's fleet at increasing speed.
  • Su Ming maneuvered around Ship No. 1, which used its mages' magic to evade a ramming attack, then carved the name Zhiyuan onto the bow.
  • Ship No. 2's commander ordered a magical volley as the Zhiyuan advanced within attack range.

Ch. 20Sea Battle

Su Ming and White Bone escaped the Pearl Duchy Navy’s interception line aboard the Zhiyuan, whose overloaded engine activated its protective arrays and drove the ship faster than its pursuers could follow. The Temple of Light’s spellcasters caught up, leaving White Bone to face an archbishop, four bishops, and twelve high priests as they fled toward the open sea.

  • White Bone intercepted some of Ship No. 2’s ice spears while the rest froze the sea around the Zhiyuan, and Su Ming realized the boiler was overloaded because the Cloud Ironwood burned so intensely.
  • The power unit’s protective arrays activated, restoring its warped parts and letting the Zhiyuan accelerate to eighteen and a half knots; White Bone said she could no longer afford to boost the ship with her own reserves.
  • Ship No. 2’s commanders recognized that the Zhiyuan had outrun their firing tables, and the three Pearl Duchy warships signaled that they could no longer intervene.
  • Su Ming adjusted the machinery, and the Zhiyuan crossed the navy’s interception line and headed for the open sea at nineteen knots.
  • White Bone used proximity-burst ice magic and an area detection spell to hinder and identify the pursuing spellcasters, counting one archbishop, four bishops, and twelve high priests.
