Jose sized up his fellow dragon. Judging by her body length, the Green Dragon before him was in the late stages of the Young Dragon phase and was about to enter adulthood.
Even with Phoenix Heart activated, his chances of winning in a direct confrontation were still not high. After all, the physical gap of two major age categories was right there.
Melee combat would actually be manageable, given his absurdly powerful wound recovery. The real issue was spellcasting. A Young Dragon could already wield high-level magic proficiently and had begun making initial contact with Master-level magic.
Every increase in spellcasting rank was a whole new world, let alone a difference of two major tiers.
Under Jose's scrutiny, the Green Dragon beat her wings and soared into the sky, bursting through the burning canopy and snapping several flaming branches.

As he spoke, Jose turned and flew back without fearing that the Green Dragon would suddenly attack him. The moment she had revealed herself, she had already shown that she understood the stakes and had made her choice.

Olivia gave a proud, cold snort and followed the Red Dragon.
