Federal World Three remained peaceful as ever today.
"This is the Federal World where the Xi Ling Merchant Guild is stationed." At Richard's side, a member of the Mechanical Race spoke respectfully.
Although Richard had already asked Ulysses to investigate the matter in secret, he, as the investigator in the open, could not simply do nothing.
He was like a candle flame in the dead of night—conspicuous enough to make people overlook the darkness beside it.
"Looks pretty good." Richard flew into the sky and looked over the strange world, a hint of pleasant surprise on his face.
Because the Federal Worlds were inhabited by five races, every one of them was a world of Four Elements Equilibrium. Moreover, due to the different preferences of each race, the environments in regions belonging to different races within the Federal Worlds could be as different as heaven and earth.
The vast continent was split in two. In the Mechanical Race's territory, metal carpeted the earth. Colossal, cold-toned factories operated day and night without pause, and amid the thunderous roar of machinery, all manner of "Alchemy" products were manufactured.
The Tree Spirit Race's territory, meanwhile, consisted of stretches of forest, where birds, beasts, insects, and fish lived freely in an atmosphere of natural peace and harmony.
The Tree Spirits grew around the World Tree. Though their bodies did not move, their minds roamed through a network belonging solely to the Tree Spirits.
The Winged Human Race occupied the skies, living on Sky Islands suspended in the heavens. The Gloomhaven Tribe lived underground. They disliked sunlight, and the other races did not particularly enjoy staying around those "ghouls," either.
Their target on this trip—the Tide Spirit Race—lived in the ocean beyond the continent.
