Background and History

Origins and Concealed Purpose

The holy land’s roots lie in the Returning Origin Immortal Sect. The parent sect established it in the Three Thousand Dao Domains because it suspected that the lost Central Immortal Domain had been sealed there. Its initial gamble was to obtain a blessing of fortune through the branch when the Central Immortal Domain reappeared 487 520 657.

Its history predates that of the Returning Unity Sect by an immense span. A Returning Unity ancestor identifies it as the only power to survive a particular cataclysmic war. It also won an overwhelming victory during the first Human-Demon War, leaving lasting grudges among Demon Race factions 32 73 370.

For thousands of years, it avoided displaying its full strength. Numerous outstanding cultivators emerged from its ranks and later vanished into unknown worlds, while outsiders believed some of its strongest ancestors had died or disappeared. In reality, its concealed leadership remained active 6 27 70.

Appointment of Su Changge

Su Changge appeared among applicants at the holy land’s recruitment gathering. After his Innate Saintly Body Dao Embryo attracted competing sects, Ancestor Po Jun offered him unrestricted cultivation resources and the holy land’s full protection, securing the promise with a Great Dao Oath 1 3.

Po Jun appointed him Divine Son, a position previously unknown to the gathered observers. His standing equaled Po Jun’s and exceeded that of the Holy Master; his will was to represent the holy land’s will 3.

Some ancestors initially opposed the appointment because the First Holy Son possessed Ancient Double Pupils and already had extraordinary potential. Su Changge’s subsequent manifestations overturned their objections. The senior leadership identified him as their opportunity to open the Path to Immortality and ordered every ancestor to protect him, even at the cost of their lives 6.

First Immortal War

Conflict with the Returning Unity Sect intensified after Su Changge killed its deacon and, later, its sect master’s son. The Limitless Dao Sect, Heavenly Wolf Clan, Wind Splitting Sparrow Clan, and Thunder Tiger Clan joined the Returning Unity Sect in declaring war 71 73.

The invasion met the holy land’s Primordial Sword Formation, enormous armies, and unusually powerful Quasi-Emperors. After defeating the coalition, the holy land attacked the five factions’ home worlds and destroyed their remaining resistance 74 83.

It retained the five Emperor Armaments recovered from the war but distributed the other treasures, medicines, and pills among subordinate factions that had participated. This substantially strengthened their loyalty 83.

War Against the Six Powers

Losses among the younger generation at Kunlun Divine Mountain prompted another coalition. Dragon God Island, True Phoenix Cave, Heaven Mountain Sect, and Little Western Heaven attacked, while Prison God Palace and Demon God Abyss joined after receiving promises from the Heavenly Dao Overseers Alliance 188 189 197.

The coalition was routed. Su Changge supported the holy land’s army with his Formation Breaking Melody, while its Great Emperors and ancestors overcame successive enemy reinforcements. Heavenly Demon God Mountain’s attempted intervention ultimately failed to save Dragon God Island and True Phoenix Cave 203 211.

Desolate Heaven Great Emperor destroyed those two factions’ ancestral lands despite warnings from the Ancient Dragon and Ancient Phoenix Clans. Heaven Mountain Sect retained only Purple Gold Great Emperor’s direct bloodline after he appealed to an unnamed teacher within the holy land. Sword Heart Old Ancestor forced Prison God Palace and Demon God Abyss to surrender resources and Emperor Weapons 211 212.

Emperor’s Path and Renewed War

After the Nine Netherworlds expedition, six ancient experts demanded an explanation for the deaths of their factions’ prodigies. The holy land rejected their demands and revealed the Returning Origin Chaos Bell. Its leadership prioritized protecting Su Changge’s route to the Emperor’s Path over immediately launching another war 355 356.

It subsequently monopolized the Emperor Dao Pool with fifteen Great Emperors. After Extinguish Delusion Immortal’s defeat, it threatened to erase the Underworld, but spared it when the Ferryman invoked a debt owed to its first Palace Master. The Underworld then sealed its gates for one million years 362 369 370.

The Demon Race later proclaimed the Second Human-Demon War. The holy land recalled the Returning Immortal Dao Army and mobilized its subordinate powers against enemies including the Demon Race and Heavenly Dao Overseers Alliance. Fighting devastated worlds across the Three Thousand Dao Domains, and the holy land’s own army suffered considerable losses. The Demon Race was ultimately defeated 420 437 438 450 460.

Outer Lands Campaign and the Central Immortal Domain Plan

After Su Changge attained emperorship, the holy land welcomed him home. Recognition of his newly created Dao brought gifts and reconciliation attempts from forces across the domains; the Great Dao’s blessing also restored North Abyss Dao Domain and strengthened its spiritual energy 471 472.

The holy land then launched campaigns against the Outer Lands and the Life Forbidden Zone. Its armies rapidly broke the Outer Lands’ defenses, while its leadership deliberately treated the forbidden-zone enemies as trials for Su Changge. Imperial Heaven Great Emperor explained that the intended outcome was for him to defeat the Six Great Forbidden Zone Masters and gain recognition as the Eternal Heavenly Emperor 493 503 527.

When the Taboo Su Family arrived, the ancestors activated the defensive formation and Chaos Bell, determined to prevent Su Changge from being taken away. The visitors instead bowed to him and announced that they had come to escort him back to the Huang Ji Immortal Domain 606.

The parent sect’s larger plan was later disclosed: make Su Changge Lord of the Central Immortal Domain and ultimately lead the Immortal Domain and all heavens. Its leaders stated that they had recognized him as the person they awaited from his first arrival at the holy land 657.

Later Era

Once the Immortal Domain and Lower Realm became fully connected, the Three Thousand Dao Domains underwent a revival of laws and immortal power. As a branch of the Returning Origin Immortal Sect, the holy land possessed an especially dense concentration of immortal power 1053.

By the later recruitment era, it was universally recognized as the domains’ strongest power. Its annual ceremony attracted countless exceptional cultivators, who paid respects before Su Changge’s statue. Although it had gained innumerable Holy Sons and Holy Daughters, it no longer had a Divine Son; the ancestors mourned the absence of the young man they remembered appointing 1464.
