Background / History
Tang San entered Notting Academy alongside Yang Tian. When the academy gatekeeper insulted Old Jack, Tang San stood up for him, displaying unusual maturity. He later sought Grandmaster's guidance because he urgently wanted knowledge about his Blue Silver Grass martial soul and its hidden qualities. 3 4
After learning from Old Jack that his father, Tang Hao, had died, Tang San became more mature and resolute. He, Yang Tian, and Xiao Wu subsequently swore themselves siblings before enrolling at Shrek Academy. 6
Tang San's relationship with Yang Tian was often competitive and complicated. Yang Tian copied Tang San's movement technique, leaving Tang San resentful, yet Tang San continued to rely on his sworn brother's protection, knowledge, and resources. 11 28
Following the awakening of his Blue Silver Emperor and acquisition of the Ice Fire Refining Golden Body, Tang San grew ambitious enough to propose leaving Shrek Academy and founding the Tang Sect. Yang Tian rebuked him for arrogance and for making judgments without fully understanding the situation. 138
Tang San ultimately placed his family before this ambition. He agreed to sacrifice one of his Soul Bones and accept damage to his left leg if that was necessary to resurrect his mother, Ah Yin. He and Tang Hao worked with Yang Tian in the resurrection ritual; Ah Yin returned after three days of life-energy channeling, then helped restore Tang San's left leg with the Giant Strength Tiger's Soul Bone. 198 203 204 205 209
After completing Slaughter City's Hell Road trial, Tang San reunited with his friends and restrained his killing intent. He later traveled with Yang Tian to the Dou Qi Continent, where he adapted his Soul Master power into Dou Qi cultivation and helped lead the Douluo Gang at Canaan Academy. 334 343 397
Personality
Tang San is driven by knowledge, advancement, and responsibility. His early desire to accept Grandmaster as a teacher came from a fear of wasting his potential through unguided development. 4
He can be competitive, calculating, and at times arrogant. Yang Tian criticized him for becoming overconfident after his rapid growth, while Xiao Wu called him devious for attempting to exchange hidden-weapon techniques for a precious Soul Bone. 138 180
Despite these traits, Tang San is strongly filial and loyal. He was willing to endanger his own leg and surrender a Soul Bone to revive Ah Yin, later showing remorse for selfish suspicions toward Yang Tian. 203 205 His loyalty to Yang Tian remains significant even after previous envy and dissatisfaction. 314 344 399
