The next day, at Hermione Granger's house

On a bright sunny morning, Hermione sat by the wide window in her study, engrossed in A Concise History of Medieval European Magic, a book thicker than a brick. The room was filled with the scent of books and an air of tranquility.

Suddenly, the air before her rippled with familiar golden sparks, and a portal opened without a sound. Silas Cyril stepped through, carrying a bag of Croissants he had "procured" from some famous French bakery, still giving off the warm, buttery fragrance.

"Morning, Hermione." He greeted her with complete casualness, placing the Croissants on her desk as though he had merely walked from his own kitchen into the living room.

Hermione jumped, but the moment she saw Silas, a delighted smile appeared on her face. She closed her book. "Silas! What are you doing here? Wait... you used a portal to run around again!"

"Brought you breakfast." Silas pointed at the Croissants and sat down in the armchair across from her without ceremony, crossing his legs. "You said in your recent letters that you'd been chewing through this brick of a book. I was afraid you weren't getting enough nutrition and would starve to death under a pile of books."

Hermione felt warmth rise in her heart. She picked up a croissant and took a bite; crisp on the outside and soft within, it was delicious. Looking at Silas's lazy posture, she could not help asking, "Weren't you going with your father to Surrey yesterday to meet a client? How did it go?"

Silas gave a derisive snort and waved a hand. "Don't mention it. A whole family of nightmares. But while I was there, I pulled Potter out of his Muggle relatives' house and tossed him over to the Weasleys."
