Hozuki Gengetsu had actually heard of the Akatsuki Organization long ago. Or rather, Obito and Black Zetsu had truly been bleeding Kirigakure dry. After all, Obito's habit of holding grudges was nothing new.
But Hozuki Gengetsu had never made up his mind to join the Akatsuki Organization, because his beloved younger brother was still in Kirigakure.
Without his protection as an older brother, Hozuki Gengetsu feared that the others in Kirigakure would devour his younger brother Suigetsu without leaving so much as a scrap.
Now that Kirigakure had entered a new era, however, Hozuki Gengetsu no longer needed to worry about Suigetsu's safety.
But their Hōzuki Clan had produced a Mizukage, too!
Seeing Kirigakure effectively under Uchiha Chisen's control, Hozuki Gengetsu was furious at its failure to stand up for itself. Yet when he thought of Uchiha Chisen's strength, all he could do was watch, however spineless he found it.
Now, however, something had gone wrong with Hozuki Gengetsu's body. He could feel it: if things continued like this, he probably did not have much longer to live!
But even if he had little time left, Hozuki Gengetsu still wanted to do something for Kirigakure.
Or rather, to free Kirigakure from Uchiha Chisen's grasp!
