"The village itself is small, with tightly packed houses, plenty of wooden beams, storerooms, and cellars, and little space between courtyard walls. For large-scale successive blasts, the small chain-blast tags still being tested aren't suitable. Those are better for intersections and targeted kills, not blowing up a village in one go."
Shikamaru's mouth twitched. "You make 'blowing up a village' sound awfully easy."
Chisen ignored that and continued, "I don't want to flatten the whole village. I want the vanguard entering it to stumble. Blow up houses,
courtyards, alley entrances, the area around the well. Concentrate as much of the blast as possible on the first wave coming in."
Kakashi studied the map and said slowly, "So the point isn't to inflict heavy losses."
"No," Chisen said. "It's to blunt their momentum."
Tsunade's gaze shifted slightly.
Chisen's voice remained steady.
"When they come back a month from now, they won't just want a safe advance. They'll want to reclaim their pride. So the moment they set foot in the Land of Fire, I'll have them fall flat on their faces in an empty village."
Shizune asked quietly, "But what about the villagers? Evacuating that many people overnight-there's no way to keep word from getting out."
"Word will get out," Chisen said. "But that doesn't matter."
"Why?"
"Because sooner or later, they'll find out the village is empty." Chisen looked at her. "I don't even mind if they know ahead of time."
Shikamaru couldn't help chuckling. "Now that really sounds like a trap laid out in the open."
Tsunade was silent for a moment before finally asking, "You're going now?"
"Now."
"Alone?"
"I'll take people, but not many," Chisen said. "Kakashi, Tenzo, a few Anbu, and people from the Ninja Tools Unit who know how to lay charges and wire them.
