Background / History
Naruto begins his early missions on Team 7 alongside Hinata and Sasuke under Kakashi. He initially lacks basic chakra knowledge and control; when Hinata explains tree-climbing training, he has to ask what chakra is. His early fighting style relies heavily on recklessly deployed Shadow Clones, with little tactical restraint. 39 44
During Kakashi’s survival test, Naruto’s clones help locate Kakashi, but Kakashi outmaneuvers him by switching places with one. Naruto is captured, prompting Hinata and Sasuke to coordinate a rescue. 39
He later participates in the Land of Waves mission and the Chūnin Exams. In the ambush on Gaara’s group, Hinata directs him to use Shadow Clones en masse for close-range pressure, helping Team 7 overwhelm Gaara after Temari and Kankurō are incapacitated. 49 66
Naruto’s determination becomes especially apparent in his match with Hinata. Despite severe injuries, he rises again and draws on the Nine-Tails’ chakra in an attempt to force her to fight seriously. Hinata exploits a flaw in his Eight Trigrams Seal and subdues him with a precise strike. 90
After learning that Akatsuki is pursuing him, Naruto resolves to seek the organization out rather than flee. His concern for Sasuke remains equally strong: he insists on bringing Sasuke back to Konoha and repeatedly pursues him despite the danger. 112 133
Following training with Jiraiya, Naruto’s taijutsu, chakra control, combat experience, and general shinobi ability improve to a level Hinata considers sufficient for a jōnin. His repertoire remains narrow, however, with an advanced Palm Rotation described as his only major new ninjutsu. 480
When Sasuke’s Chidori leaves him paralyzed, Naruto confronts the Nine-Tails within his inner world. He refuses the beast’s urging to kill Sasuke, instead declaring his intention to befriend it. 507
Appearance
Naruto is identified as a blonde boy. When influenced by the Nine-Tails’ chakra, his pupils turn red and vertical, accompanied by enhanced physical features. 518 507
Personality
Naruto is impulsive, loud, and prone to overconfidence. He announces techniques in battle, uses Shadow Clones without sufficient planning, challenges stronger opponents to prove himself, and once gets drunk after being invited out by Hinata. 39 276 502
His recklessness is paired with exceptional stubbornness. He keeps fighting through serious injuries, resists the Nine-Tails’ violent temptation, and refuses to abandon Sasuke even when their paths diverge. 90 133 507
Although he can be tactically naive, Naruto responds to guidance and develops greater caution. He respects Jiraiya’s experience during their battle with Urashiki and follows his instructions rather than charging in blindly. 551 552
