Background / History

Sasuke was the sole survivor of the Uchiha clan extermination. Konoha publicly blamed his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, for killing the clan and defecting; Sasuke believed this account after witnessing his parents' deaths and spending seven days hospitalized. The event left him silent, brooding, and driven by hatred. 10

At the Academy, he maintained a recurring rivalry with Hinata Hyuga. He repeatedly challenged her to defend the Uchiha name, but Hinata did not hold back in their duels and defeated him in taijutsu class. She also challenged his belief that restoring the Uchiha required strength alone, arguing that it required descendants. 10 18

Sasuke later followed Orochimaru in pursuit of greater power. Even after his training vastly improved his strength, he considered himself far below Hinata and remained dissatisfied with his progress. 252 His future self eventually revealed the history behind the clan extermination, Itachi's role, the Nine-Tails incident, and the Uchiha coup.
