The two sat down at a table by the window.
Sayo familiarly began to introduce Yorii Tsugikuni to her favorite ramen flavors.
"Then let's go with tonkotsu ramen."
"Where are we going after we eat?"
Yorii Tsugikuni had no particular preference for food.
He naturally accepted Sayo's recommendation, but his mind was still occupied by the purpose of their outing today.
After a day together, he had gotten to know his new colleague a little better.
"After eating, we're going home, of course."
"But if there's anywhere you want to go, Yorii, I can take you."
Yorii Tsugikuni froze for a good few seconds after hearing Sayo's words.
Sayo seemed to have forgotten the main task they were supposed to accomplish today again.
"Aren't we here to track down villains?"
"Did you forget, Sayo?"
After a moment of thought, Yorii Tsugikuni looked at Sayo, who was eating her ramen, and reminded her.
"Oh my god, I almost forgot."
"Don't worry this time, Yorii, I definitely won't forget again."
Reminded by Yorii Tsugikuni, Sayo patted her forehead, as if she had just remembered something important.
She patted Yorii Tsugikuni's shoulder and made a promise.
"Speaking of which, I haven't introduced you to some people yet."
"Their organization is called Night Raid, and these guys only recently appeared in the Imperial Capital."
She added some vinegar to her ramen.
Sayo slowly began to tell Yorii Tsugikuni some information about their targets: "They specifically target wealthy individuals and officials in the Imperial Capital. They are utterly wicked villains."

"They're villains?"
As Sayo spoke, Yorii Tsugikuni pondered.
He had lived in an era filled with demons and villains, so he had long since formed his own views on good and evil. Therefore, when Sayo called the members of Night Raid villains, he didn't immediately label them as such.
He was merely curious about them.
As for whether they were truly bad or not, Yorii Tsugikuni trusted his own observations and perceptions more, rather than making judgments based on others' descriptions.
These were the principles he had learned through his own experiences during his long life.
"Of course they're villains. Master said that everyone in Night Raid should be killed."
"The Empire's current chaos is largely their fault."
Sayo said this while eating her ramen, and Yorii Tsugikuni could clearly sense the strong disgust in her voice when she mentioned Night Raid.
'There must be something between Sayo and Night Raid that I don't know about.'
Yorii Tsugikuni listened to Sayo's story calmly and earnestly.
He had met many people.
And experienced many things, which allowed him to understand many principles.
So even without Sayo elaborating on the details, Yorii Tsugikuni could infer some things.
"You really hate them, don't you, Sayo?"
"I can feel how desperately you want to eliminate them."
Yorii Tsugikuni watched as Sayo's emotions gradually shifted from passionate anger to a subdued sadness. He gently comforted her, "I've also had people I hated like that, but I don't know if I'll ever have the chance to catch that person."
"Woof woof..."
Sensing Sayo's sudden sadness, Kobi on the ground nudged her.
As Sayo's most loyal companion, he could clearly sense her emotional fluctuations.
"Those people killed my family."
"I will never forgive them."
Sayo clenched her fists tightly. In her agitation, she stood up from her seat.
Her fist hit the table, nearly knocking over the ramen bowls.
"I'm sorry, I got a little carried away. Please excuse me."
"Your noodle soup spilled."
After venting, Sayo calmed down considerably.
She looked at the spilled noodle soup in front of Yorii Tsugikuni with a touch of guilt.
"It's alright, the soup just spilled. We can just wipe it up."
"Everything will pass. I hope you can cheer up soon, Sayo."
Yorii Tsugikuni gently shook his head, not bothered by the mess Sayo had made on the table.
He too had a period of breakdown after losing his loved ones.
Even now, after so long, recalling it still brought waves of heartache.
Therefore, he didn't find Sayo's current behavior unusual.
"Thank you, Yorii, for listening to all my rambling."
"Speaking of which, I haven't talked about these things with anyone in a long time."
Looking at Yorii Tsugikuni, whose expression remained unchanged and who still wore a warm smile, Sayo suddenly found him much more likable than before.
Yorii Tsugikuni's attentive listening made her want to share more.
After the two finished their ramen.
The sky had completely darkened, and lights began to appear in some houses along the street.
The lights were dim, scattered like stars, flickering on and off.
Because they needed to follow leads on Night Raid, the two officially began their patrol after eating.
They walked slowly, from one street to another.
"This place is very similar to my hometown."
"There aren't many people out at night."
Yorii Tsugikuni walked slowly behind Sayo. They walked for a long time without encountering anyone.
This reminded him of the place he came from.
At night, people would hide in their homes to avoid the demons that roamed the darkness.
"Because it's not safe at night, the Imperial Capital is indeed a bit deserted after dark."
"However, in the areas closer to the main streets, there are still plenty of people."
Sayo looked around while also keeping an eye on her Imperial Armament, hoping Kobi could sense the presence of bad guys.
"There seems to be a carriage over there."
"Let's go check it out."
After walking a bit further, Sayo suddenly made a discovery.
She grabbed Yorii Tsugikuni's hand and ran towards the suspicious carriage.
"Who are you people?"
"Why are you still out so late?"
Sayo moved with great agility, directly stopping the carriage on the street.
Standing in front of the carriage, she assumed a fighting stance.
"Brother Yorii, we meet again."
"We just returned from the countryside and were a bit late entering the city."
Aria and her father poked their heads out of the carriage. Upon seeing Yorii Tsugikuni, Aria happily greeted him.
Aria's father, meanwhile, explained to Sayo why they were still on the street so late.
"You know each other?"
Hearing Aria's words, Sayo turned to look at Yorii Tsugikuni.
Seeing him nod, Sayo's previously cold expression softened considerably. She looked at them and issued a warning: "Remember to stay home after dark from now on."
"Thank you for the reminder. We'll head home now."
"Brother Yorii, remember to visit Aria when you have time!"
Aria's family's carriage quickly disappeared around the corner of the alley.
Also disappearing was Aria's innocent smile as she enthusiastically greeted Yorii Tsugikuni before leaving.
Why were they lying?
The carriage wheels looked so clean.
Yorii Tsugikuni frowned slightly. In his mind, the clean wheels of the carriage carrying Aria's family kept replaying.
Places like the countryside were covered in mud.
Everything indicated that Aria's family was lying.
Yorii Tsugikuni was a bit confused, unable to understand why Aria's family would lie to them.
"What are you spacing out for?"
"Let's head back too. It seems we won't have any luck tonight."
Sayo picked up Kobi from the ground, feeling a bit dejected.
It was already late at night. They had patrolled most of the city, but there had been no progress.
After a busy day, even Sayo, who was usually as energetic as if she'd had a shot of adrenaline, was starting to feel tired.
"Just thinking about some things."
"Don't be discouraged. We'll find something eventually."
Hearing Sayo call him, Yorii Tsugikuni pulled himself out of his thoughts.
Seeing Sayo looking a bit down, he mimicked how Shiyu used to encourage Tatsumi, giving Sayo a fist pump.

"That was close. I almost got found out."
"It looks like we can't stay out too late from now on."
Caven patted his chest and let out a sigh of relief.
When he had encountered Sayo on the street just now, seeing that mechanical dog had nearly scared his heart out of his chest.
He had heard of Sayo's reputation. A large portion of the criminals caught by the entire Imperial Capital's Guard were apprehended by her, and she was Ogre Ouka's most proud disciple.
