Background / History

Yu Xiaogang attempted to obtain Spirit Hall knowledge through plagiarism and pursued Bibi Dong. After the attempt failed, he and Bibi Dong were expelled from Spirit City; Spirit Hall accused him of inciting the Saintess, stealing knowledge, and abducting her. He initially sought to retain Bibi Dong because her innate full spirit power and twin martial souls could provide him with a powerful child and a way to escape his reputation as a “waste.” 4

His actions brought pressure upon the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. Qian Xunfeng demanded that the sect retrieve and nurture Yu Xiaogang, while implicitly warning Yu Yuanzhen not to dispose of Bibi Dong carelessly. 10

By the time he joined Shrek Academy, Yu Xiaogang was obsessed with proving his theories and overturning the contempt directed at his weak cultivation. He viewed the talented Shrek students as his route to prestige, believing that their future success would establish him as the continent’s foremost master. 63 102

Yu Xiaogang is vain, insecure, and intensely concerned with public recognition. He presents his theories and training plans with certainty, but reacts poorly to criticism and seeks validation through the accomplishments of gifted students rather than his own strength. 63 102 124

He is also manipulative and opportunistic. He exploited Dai Mubai’s lack of alternatives to pressure him into remaining at Shrek, and he attempted to recruit Qian Renchuan as a disciple primarily as a test subject for his theories. 49 123

Breakthrough and Escalating Control

Following the Immortal Herb ordeal, Yu Xiaogang refined its medicinal power, absorbed a Thunderclap Beast soul ring, and reached Rank 30. Empowered by the breakthrough, he intensified his training demands, ordering one hundred weighted laps and relying on Liu Erlong to enforce his orders. 111 114 122
