Background / History

Chao Wendao intervened in Lu Ze’s interrogation over the creation of Demonic Path Escape. Having heard Lu Ze’s explanation, he praised the disciple’s insight rather than dismissing it. When Lu Ze and Ding Mingcang formalized their challenge, Chao Wendao established the binding Sect Covenant; he also regretted being unable to accept Lu Ze as his disciple. 20 21

After Lu Ze defeated Ding Mingcang’s Endless Mode challenge, Chao Wendao supported Lu Ze’s advancement to Inner Disciple status and offered him a true disciple’s stipend—two thousand Spirit Stones, medicinal pills, a cultivation method, and a weapon—in return for cooperation in creating Illusion Realms. 43
