Ch. 1Sharingan?
Chapter Summary: “Sharingan?”
Plot and Events
Zheng Yuheng awakens confused and dizzy, initially believing he is dreaming. In the dream, he experiences fragments of Sasuke’s childhood as “Second Pillar,” including life in the Uchiha Clan and the trauma of his older brother massacring the clan. He then remembers his own death: while working late as an accountant at a restaurant, he confronted a thief and was stabbed repeatedly.
When he wakes again, Zheng discovers he is in a private hospital room and has been transformed into a young Sasuke Uchiha. Looking in the mirror, he is shocked to see a one-tomoe Sharingan already active in his eyes, even though Sasuke should not yet possess it at this point in the Naruto timeline. Using Sasuke’s memories, he successfully suppresses the Sharingan by cutting off its Chakra supply. He then hides under the covers and begins analyzing his situation.
Character Development
Zheng shifts from a recently deceased university graduate into a transmigrated version of Sasuke. His familiarity with Naruto allows him to recognize the dangers of his new identity and the mistakes Sasuke made in the original story. Unlike Sasuke, Zheng is analytical, skeptical, and determined to understand the mechanics behind his powers. His previous interest in martial arts—especially Tai Chi and Xing Yi—may give him an advantage in adapting to the ninja world, though he had not trained long enough to master them before his death.
Character Interactions
Zheng’s main interaction is with the fused memories of young Sasuke, which reveal Sasuke’s family life and emotional connection to his older brother. The remembered encounter with the older brother, ending with the use of “Tsukuyomi,” establishes the future trauma surrounding the Uchiha massacre. In the present, Zheng has not yet met anyone directly, choosing to conceal his awakening and observe before acting.
Significant Themes
The chapter focuses on transmigration and identity, as Zheng must reconcile his own personality with Sasuke’s memories and body. It also explores trauma, destiny, and the burden of foreknowledge, since Zheng knows the major events that are supposed to shape Sasuke’s life. Another major theme is the nature of the Sharingan. Zheng theorizes that it requires both the Uchiha bloodline and sufficient Chakra, especially powerful spiritual energy. He argues that the Sharingan awakens through intense mental pressure and willpower, but believes his own arrival strengthened Sasuke’s spiritual power enough to trigger it prematurely. The chapter also contrasts disciplined self-improvement with the Uchiha Clan’s supposed dependence on inherited talent and past glory.
