"Nojiko, Gen, everyone..."
Nami ran through the village, shouting, but no one answered her. A desolate atmosphere filled the entire village.
The houses on either side, toppled over, seemed to tell a story of unpleasant events that had recently occurred here.
"Why? Why now..."
Nami knelt on the ground, her eyes vacant.
She had worked so hard, was just a little bit short of gathering 100 million Belly to buy back the village and her own freedom from those bastards...
Why did something have to happen at this exact moment? Why did she have to fail when success was within her grasp?!
Helpless tears streamed down her cheeks. Her mind replayed the hardships she had endured along the way.
Bell-mère had been killed for her. And for the people of the village, she was willing to draw maps for Arlong, her enemy, willing to get Arlong's mark tattooed on her arm, willing to become his subordinate and fight for him.
Countless times she had wanted to cut the disgusting tattoo on her arm with a knife, but each time she held back, telling herself that she would soon be truly free!
She had stolen and deceived everywhere, all for the sake of one day saving enough money for everyone to be free, to protect the place where she grew up.
But why did it have to end like this?
She stopped crying and, with a cold expression, returned home. Beneath this place where orange trees were planted lay the tears and blood of many years.
At least the orange grove wasn't destroyed!
She took out a long staff with sharp ends from her home and walked towards Arlong Park with determined eyes. She had nothing left to lose.
At least she could take a couple of them down with her!
Meanwhile, at Arlong Park.
Led by the villagers, Cifer and his two companions finally arrived at the Arlong Pirates' headquarters – a building that looked expensively built.
The main gate was tightly shut, and from within, the loud laughter and cheers of the fish-men could be heard intermittently, a stark contrast to the solemn atmosphere outside.
"30 Million Volts - Raiju!"
Enel lightly tapped the left side of his taiko drum with his staff, and a wolf-like thunder beast roared out. Before the astonished eyes of everyone present, it smashed the gate to pieces.
"Who is it?!"
A voice filled with confusion and anger emerged.
As the smoke cleared, everyone present appeared within Arlong's sight.
Seeing the three unfamiliar individuals leading the charge, he didn't think much of it, merely assuming they were some insignificant riff-raff the ignorant villagers had found to help them.
"It seems I need to make you remember that kind of fear!"
A chilling smile spread across Arlong's face, and everyone couldn't help but recall his brutal demeanor when he first arrived at Cocoyasi Village.
Behind him, a group of fish-men drew their weapons, clearly ready to attack at Arlong's command.
But no one took a step back. To succumb to fear at this moment would mean being trapped in Arlong's shadow forever!
"Can I kill them all?"
Enel scratched his head and looked at Cifer. After all, they were Cifer's crewmates, so he had to ask for his opinion if Cifer was present.
"Of course!"
Cifer had intended to do just that anyway. It would also give Enel a chance to beat up some grunts and regain some confidence, though it didn't seem like he had lost any...
"Mr. Cifer..."
Daz Boneka wanted to stop them from this act of slaughter. In her eyes, even pirates should be interrogated before being convicted.
"Shut up, use your brain before you speak!"
Cifer directly interrupted her.
Daz Boneka then remembered that the person before her was not a Marine, but one of the Shichibukai! And a monster known as the "Butcher"!
Furthermore, as she looked around, she noticed that the villagers were all excited by Cifer's answer. She understood that these pirates must have done many terrible things to them.
She felt a bit dazed, starting to wonder why pirates who did such awful things to civilians were only imprisoned after a trial.
With Cifer's permission, Enel spun the golden staff in his hand and slowly walked forward, his face filled with arrogance.
"Your expression and your words have made God very displeased. Don't you know you should show fear to a deity?"
As Arlong waved his hand, the fish-men, excluding the officers, charged at Enel with their swords. However, the blades passed through his body as if he were intangible, unable to harm him in the slightest.
"Is this... a Logia!"
As a former member of the Sun Pirates who had roamed the Grand Line, how could Arlong not know what this meant?
Sweat began to drip. If he was a powerful Logia Devil Fruit user, he wouldn't be his match.
"30 Million Volts - Discharge!"
He merely extended his palm, and powerful currents wrapped around him. In an instant, all the surrounding fish-men were electrocuted, their bodies charred, and they fell to the ground, their conditions unknown.
"Run! Jump into the sea!"
Seeing his comrades in such a state, Arlong's eyes widened with rage, but he still chose to abandon them, leaving their fates uncertain.
Enel's brief display of power was already terrifying. He wasn't just capable of going toe-to-toe with his opponents; escaping into the sea was the most crucial thing right now!
Devil Fruit users are abandoned by the sea; this is a universally known truth in the Grand Line. As long as they get into the water, they're safe!
He now realized that opening a passage connected to the sea within Arlong Park was truly the smartest decision he had ever made!
"Hm?"
"30 Million Volts - Raicho!"
Seeing the remaining few fish-men trying to escape into the sea, Enel lightly tapped the right side of his golden staff against a taiko drum. A swift, bird-shaped lightning beast spread its wings and soared.
Its speed was so great that the cadres couldn't react in time. They were directly struck to the ground, their bodies convulsing.
"Hachi! Kuroobi!"
Arlong, the only one who had escaped into the sea, now had eyes bloodshot, tears mixing with the seawater.
His own brethren had fallen to humans today. How could he return to Fish-Man District and face anyone?
He swore that after these people left, he would return and slaughter everyone in Cocoyasi Village to accompany the fallen fish-men!
"It's over! That Arlong actually escaped!"
Of all people, the strongest one had escaped. The villagers were frantic. Gen was already starting to take off his clothes, intending to go into the sea and fight Arlong to the death.
"You can't escape! A mere dried fish, daring to defy a god!"
"Divine Judgment!"
After locking onto Arlong's position with Mantra, Enel shot a lightning bolt from his fingertip. It flew out to sea, transforming into a massive bolt of lightning that struck vertically downwards.
The ocean shimmered with lightning. After the thunder, various fish, injured by the blast, began floating to the surface. Under the expectant gazes of the crowd, Arlong, bleeding from all seven orifices, also floated up.
"We won!!!"
Seeing Arlong's still chest, the villagers were moved to tears. Cheers echoed throughout the land. They threw their weapons to the ground and embraced each other.
Nojiko tightly held Gen's arm, his face filled with long-lost joy.
"Hey, hey, a god solved this for you!"
Enel, the great benefactor, seeing himself ignored again, spoke up to remind them.
The villagers finally reacted and rushed forward. Under Enel's bewildered gaze, they lifted him high by his limbs.
"Thank you for the god's help!"
As they lifted and lowered him, the villagers, following his lead, called Enel a god. After all, to them, Enel truly was the god who had saved them!
"Yeahhhhhhh hahahaha~ This is the treatment a god deserves!" In that moment, Enel finally understood how to be a true god!
Nami, who had already walked not far from them, heard the cheers coming from Arlong Park. Her life suddenly seemed to reignite with hope.
She quickened her pace, discarding her staff, and sprinted towards Arlong Park. There, she saw a ground full of fish-man corpses and cheering villagers.
"Nojiko, Gen, everyone... I'm so glad you're all safe..." Nami covered her mouth, tears falling uncontrollably once more.
"Nami!"
Nojiko released Gen and ran towards Nami.
The two embraced tightly.
