Background

Lin Chang'an began as a rogue cultivator whose uncle and cousin used him as payment to secure their own freedom from the Great Sword Sect. Realizing that resistance would only worsen his position, he publicly identified himself as an alchemist and offered to refine Bigu and Qi Gathering Pills. His willingness to adapt earned Steward Lu's attention and kept him from being treated as expendable labor. 2 6

He established his value immediately by refining five Bigu Pills from ten materials with a low-grade artifact cauldron. Though he displayed confidence and complained about the poor materials, the result confirmed his rare talent among low-level rogue cultivators. 3 4

Elder Lu eventually accepted him as a direct disciple after Lin proposed combining the Blood Spirit Pill with his Ascending Dragon Pill for sect business.
