Chapter 14: Objective
Within the Krol Kingdom.
Despite its rich iron ore deposits, the land was generally barren.
Because of this, most of the population had gathered in the capital city near the port.
After crossing the iron ore mining area.
Roy soon arrived at the weapon factory hidden in the mountain hollow.
Perhaps due to the quality of materials used during its construction, quite a few pirates were still alive here.
Roy showed no mercy.
As his figure flashed by, the pirates' necks became fountains of crimson blood.
Looking at the factory built into the mountainside before him.
Heaven knew how much effort Roy and Spandam had put into building this factory back then, how many people they had taught a lesson to, and how many connections they had made within this kingdom.
Now, having to destroy it with his own hands, Roy felt a pang of heartache.
He walked into the spacious factory.
The assembly lines were still in their original places.
The overall layout of the factory remained largely unchanged, though the once clean walls and floors bore many traces of battle that had not been wiped away.
Upon reaching the explosives warehouse, Roy found that the explosives were still there.
Perhaps because the Black Eagle Pirates intended to keep the factory operational, none of the raw materials were lost.
Fsssh!
He struck a match, lighting his cigarette.
He looked at the tightly sealed black powder warehouse before him.
He opened one of the wooden barrels filled with gunpowder.
He casually tossed the lit match forward.
BOOM!
A towering flame erupted from the factory.
The shockwave from the explosion instantly made the mountain begin to tremble precariously.
The fierce explosions began to spread throughout every production workshop.
As Roy, cigarette in mouth, stood outside the factory, his cloud form once again coalesced into a body.
Boom, boom, boom!
The mountainside behind him collapsed in an instant.
The smoke and embers filling the air were immediately suppressed by the pouring rain just as they began to rise.
He glanced up at the now much thinner dark clouds and the sunlight that was about to pierce through the darkness in the sky.
Roy once again transformed into mist and clouds, soaring into the mass of dark clouds above.
Giant hailstones began their second wave of cleansing.
Two days passed in a flash.
The natural disaster that had struck the Krol Kingdom was spread across the seas by pirates seeking refuge with the Black Eagle Pirates.
The Black Eagle Pirates, who had been incredibly influential not long ago, had now vanished in a natural disaster.
This made many people incredulous, and they promptly dispatched subordinates to investigate.
"Oh, damn it, what is this?"
Currently, in the waters surrounding the Krol Kingdom, the kingdom was completely frozen over when viewed from a distance.
Furthermore, the hailstones, as large as carriages, struck fear into the hearts of those observing.
Under a natural disaster of this magnitude, no one dared to venture closer.
And just as everyone was feeling pity for what had befallen the Krol Kingdom.
An inconspicuous ship, laden with a vast amount of treasure, was slowly departing from the area.
Roy had completed what needed to be done. He had thoroughly cleansed the land with heavy rain, and the people he needed to kill, except for Patches, who was bound in the cabin, had all been smashed into pulp.
The sails billowed full in the sea breeze.
Roy, alone, steered the sailboat, which cut rapidly through the sea.
He thought of the factory he had blown up and the treasures and artifacts he couldn't take with him.
He looked at the calm and beautiful horizon in the distance.
"It looks like I need to get moving on the Sky Island trip!"
Roy had many ideas for the abilities of the Logia-type Cloud-Cloud Fruit.
However, a large number of its offensive moves require corresponding raw materials that Roy currently cannot obtain.
Although Roy can create clouds himself, clouds containing Seastone particles are not within the scope of the Cloud-Cloud Fruit's abilities.
This trip to the Krol Kingdom made Roy realize how important a mobile flying base is.
If Roy had a Cloud Island now, he wouldn't have to destroy all the equipment in the weapon processing plant one by one. He could simply place it on the Cloud Island and pack it up to take away.
But reality is not so simple, and the losses this time have strengthened Roy's resolve to go to Sky Island.
The first half of the Grand Line, Sabaody Archipelago.
Because Roy successfully resolved the major trouble in the Krol Kingdom and even brought back a Devil Fruit user as a captive, he came here to recover his losses.
Spandam and Roy directly came to Sabaody Archipelago, the island closest to Mary Geoise.
Here, Spandam plans to use his father's connections and Patches, a user of a flying Devil Fruit, to exchange for some privileges that can bring them profit.
A pirate with a bounty over 100 million, and also a Zoan Devil Fruit user who can fly.
A slave of this caliber would definitely be considered a top-tier item, even on Mary Geoise.
Therefore, Spandam has no worries that his request for this fawning gift will be rejected.
Inside a luxurious, giant white villa, Spandam and Roy are leisurely enjoying afternoon tea.
"By the way, Roy, did you really destroy the entire Krol Kingdom? You're truly terrifyingly cruel!"
Holding his teacup, Spandam chats casually with Roy.
"It was just a small country plundered by pirates, with not much military strength.
Any CP9 agent could have achieved the same result.
But speaking of cruelty, Spandam, you're no weakling either!
The weapon transport team has probably all been sunk by you. You're as cautious as ever!"
Taking a sip of his tea, Roy looks at Spandam.
While lighting a cigarette, Roy asks with some concern, "Are our requests really okay? Spandam, aren't we asking for a bit too much?"
Smoking his cigarette, Roy voices his worries.
Spandam's eyes also show a flicker of concern after Roy asks.
"It should be fine. It's just jurisdiction over a few resource islands of the World Government.
A Zoan Devil Fruit user who can fly, and a pirate with a bounty over 100 million, should be enough to please Saint Gareth.
After all, from what I know, that Lord enjoys conquering powerful pirates."
Spandam's reply eases some of Roy's worries.
Enjoys conquering powerful pirates?
Patches should be able to handle that.
The fragrant black tea is quickly consumed by the two on the table.
Meanwhile, on Mary Geoise, the chrysanthemums in the flowerbeds have transformed into sunflowers.
