Seeing Yu Ye's resolute expression, Ji Qinglin was instead a little puzzled.
Worried that he had put too much pressure on her, Ji Qinglin did want to use this chance to pull her aboard the Thief Ship, but he could not rush things and scare the little one away.
"You don't need to make a choice so quickly. Removing the meridians will take some time. We definitely can't transplant them for you today."
"It's fine. I've already decided."
"Oh? You're not afraid they'll trace it back to you this time?"
Yu Ye mimicked Ji Qinglin's tone from earlier. "Why would they investigate me? I paid for a secondhand meridian transplant myself. How would I know which unlucky bastard used to own them?"
"Not bad. You learned fast. Actually, the meridians stripped from Sang Feng are better than brand-new ones. Their channels have only just been soaked open by blood, and there hasn't been enough time for them to fuse with muscle and bone. They're perfect for use."
One major reason they had been able to capture Sang Feng this time was that his meridians had only recently been installed and had not yet properly integrated with his body.
"Then should we go in and take a look? Can Doctor Shen manage alone?"
Crazy Night: If she can't, are you planning to help? The chief disciple of a murderous fiend! Yu Ye: Think about whether you're even qualified to say that.
Ji Qinglin led Yu Ye into the storeroom. This was the warehouse on Bixin Hall's outer street, rarely opened under normal circumstances, and filled with various medical equipment and supplies that were temporarily unused.
After passing through a long, narrow tunnel, Ji Qinglin and Yu Ye took the elevator down to the basement treatment room.
Drugged, Sang Feng had been stripped naked and tied to the operating table, a white sheet covering his body.
Having changed into a white coat and tucked her curly hair beneath a cap, Shen Bixin was using an old machine to scan Sang Feng's entire body.
"Have you made up your mind? The Meridian Set on him is in high demand."
"My disciple wants it. Bi Xin, be careful when you remove it. Don't damage it."
"My professional ability is not for a dead profiteer like you to question. Once the meridians are removed, they'll need some processing. Yu Ye, you should be able to come have them installed in about two days."
Yu Ye nodded in thanks. "Then I'll have to trouble Doctor Shen."
Ji Qinglin walked up to Sang Feng and found his eyes already brimming with tears. Whether he regretted his past crimes or was simply terrified, at this moment, he could finally deeply understand how those people they had taken away had felt.
"Hey, watch what you say around people. Consider the feelings of the person involved, right? Mr. Sang Feng, with so many lives on your hands, I imagine that since you know so much about organ trafficking, you must be well versed in what comes next. No need to worry. Bi Xin, just to be safe, why not give Mr. Sang Feng a quick death?"
Sang Feng could never have imagined even in his dreams that the ordinary General Store owner who had tactfully declined his acquisition offer a week ago would turn out to be such a ruthless figure, one who never let grudges survive the night.
Sang Feng wanted to negotiate and beg for mercy, but his drugged body was completely beyond his control.
"No. To ensure the organs remain preserved for as long as possible, it's best to harvest them while he's alive. That's how they usually do it too."
"Tch. How could a thirty-six-degree mouth say something so icy? Too bloody. So there's nothing left for us to do, right?"
Shen Bixin, gloved hands on, shot them a sidelong glance. "Don't interfere with my work here."
Ji Qinglin made a see-you-later gesture and led Yu Ye straight toward the door. "Contact me anytime there's progress."
Once she saw the elevator go back up and confirmed that Ji Qinglin and his disciple had left, Shen Bixin pulled over a chair and sat before Sang Feng. She pried open his mouth and injected him with something.
"You should be able to speak now."
Like a patient with a high-level spinal injury, Sang Feng could move only his head. He wailed, "Spare me! Whatever you want, I'll agree to it! I was wrong before. I can compensate you and Mr. Ji Qinglin—no, I'll give you all my property! Just spare my life!"
Having temporarily regained the ability to speak, Sang Feng poured out all his pleas for mercy in one breath.
Shen Bixin raised her Mechanical Arm and lit a cigarette with her index finger, her voice as calm as ever. "Quiet. Answer my questions, or I'll kill you right now."
"No, no, no! Please, ask! I'll tell you everything I know!"
"Immortal Path Biology Technology possesses an Immortal Corpse, correct?"
.
Ji Qinglin and his disciple walked out of the underground storage area and headed back along the silent outer street. Yu Ye asked, "Master, didn't we leave too hastily? Is it really alright to leave Doctor Shen down there alone?"
"She probably wished we had left even earlier. From the look of things, she never intended to deal with Sang Feng's body today."
"Huh? Then what is she doing down there alone? And if the Meridian Set goes to me, wouldn't she have worked for nothing?"
"Do you think the most valuable thing on Sang Feng is that Meridian Set?"
"Information? The company information Sang Feng knows!"
"Good, you can be taught. If I'm not mistaken, she should be interrogating Sang Feng down there right about now."
Ji Qinglin knew Shen Bixin was not such an impulsive person, at least not since founding Bixin Hall. Yet this time, she had insisted on capturing Sang Feng, and on taking him alive. That meant Sang Feng definitely possessed something she was interested in.
"Then aren't you curious about that information?"
"You'd better put away that curiosity. If possible, avoid having anything to do with companies. Most companies are emotionless machines. Human lives are nothing special to them."
.
Crazy Night: Rare for us to share the same view.
Yu Ye: Do you think we were really right to stay here? Crazy Night: You're afraid we'll harm him?
Yu Ye: Mm.
Crazy Night: Doesn't matter. Judging by today's situation, it's hard to say who'll harm whom first. We just do what we have to do, and leave the rest to retribution.
Yu Ye: Ha. You two really are alike when it comes to being shameless.
"Yu Ye, what are you spacing out for?"
"Oh, nothing. I was just curious about your relationship with Doctor Shen."
"You're quite the gossip for someone so young."
Crazy Night: You're not much older than us either, are you? Take it out and let me see. Why pretend to be so old and worldly?
Yu Ye: Very good. You two are becoming more and more alike in the hooligan department too.
"I just feel that you and Doctor Shen must be close. For something so dangerous, the two of you can work together without any reservations."
"No. I've actually only truly known Bi Xin for a little over a year, and it was on a night just like this."
Yu Ye looked at the jewel-like skyscrapers of Bangkok's brightly lit City Center in the distance, then at the dazzling long street nearby.
"A night like this? That sounds rather romantic."
Crazy Night: Tell it, tell it, tell it! I'm interested too—front row seat!
Ji Qinglin merely let out a long breath.
"There was nothing romantic about it. It was simply an Asura Arena."
Crazy Night: An Asura Arena? What, did you get caught fooling around with someone's wife?
