Background / History
Ji Qinglin died in the old era after suffering terminal liver cancer and donating his organs. He awakened in a healthy body in a future world where cultivation and advanced technology coexist, with an old-era smartphone integrated into his right hand. To conceal his unfamiliarity with the era, he initially pretended to have amnesia. 1
His body’s meridians and interfaces are integrated with the phone, preventing him from replacing them with a new cultivation set without permanently disconnecting the device. Medical examination identifies his meridians and bones as a custom model stronger than those of ordinary people. 8
After selecting Yu Ye from imprisoned disciple candidates, Ji Qinglin gradually becomes her teacher and formally accepts her as his disciple. He provides her with a Grade A Meridian Set, trains her combat methods, and repeatedly protects her from assassins and cultivation deviations. 2 6 19 37
He gains prominence within the Xin Dong Street Merchant Association by defeating powerful opponents, helping secure its position during the Cultivation Grand Competition, and eliminating former Nanhua District President Sima Zhao. His reputation grows further after the widely circulated account that he killed Machina Hero Hu YanZongRen in three sword strikes. 100 103 317
While investigating Machina life, Immortal Remains, and the entity known as “Qing,” Ji Qinglin concludes that his earliest self died, became a scientific-cultivation candidate corpse, and was later revived when Qing injected Soul Consciousness into that body. 132 147
His conflict with A Qing becomes central to his later actions. The two repeatedly clash over Immortal Remains, Divine Soul power, and the legacy of the Immortal; Ji Qinglin’s resurrection is eventually revealed to his disciples after a battle with A Qing and an unknown black consciousness. 331 334 370
Appearance
Ji Qinglin is generally perceived as a handsome, tall young man in his early twenties, despite his unusual history and concealed strength. He alternates between casual modern clothing and light-cyan Daoist robes, often behaving too casually for formal cultivation settings. 218 237
- An old-era smartphone is integrated into his right hand. 1
- His body contains custom meridians and bones that cannot be readily separated from the phone system. 8
- He has used disguises, including the identity of Zhang Mazi, to obscure his movements and survival. 369
- During dangerous power surges, he can be covered in blood mist, Thunder Force, black smoke, or a blood-red aura. 180 299
Personality
Ji Qinglin is adaptable, irreverent, and quick-thinking. He treats dangerous situations with humor or feigned frivolity, but becomes cold and decisive once someone threatens his disciples or allies. 3 238
He is pragmatic about justice and survival, openly acknowledging that ideals require resources while still taking major risks against assassins, black factories, and Immortal Path Biology. 12 246
As a master, he is demanding but attentive. He invests heavily in his disciples’ cultivation, corrects their techniques in detail, and is willing to use unconventional methods—including guns, mines, deception, and ambushes—to keep them alive. 35 38 111

Inner Vision and Soul-Searching
Immortal Remains grant Ji Qinglin unusual Inner Vision abilities.
