At dawn, the thin mist on the sacred mountain had yet to disperse.

A group of people in black cloaks was already hurrying up the mountain, strikingly conspicuous and grim amid the brilliant white of the eternal snow peaks.

"Prime Minister, you have arrived quite early."

Venerable Wue, slightly bald at the crown, stood before the mountain gate awaiting the visitors, greeting them with a smile.

"The Venerable summoned me; I would not dare delay." The leader among the black-clad figures replied calmly, "The moment His Majesty's decree arrived, I set out overnight."

The visitor was none other than Su Qian, Prime Minister of the Yu Dynasty. The group behind him consisted of expert guards from the Eight Houses and Eight Sects under his command.

Just as he had said, everyone in the party bore the dust of travel.

"His Majesty keeps the countless people of the Nine Provinces in his heart, and the Prime Minister spares no effort either." Venerable Wue turned and led the group up the mountain as he spoke. "The Venerable has been in seclusion for many years and almost never receives guests, so he will not come out to greet you personally."

When they reached a separate courtyard beside the main hall, Venerable Wue added, "The Venerable means that our sacred mountain merely wishes for peace under heaven, and so we are acting as introducers. Whatever the Prime Minister discusses with them shortly has nothing to do with us. Whether it succeeds or fails, there is no need to show the Venerable any regard."
