Why Did They Cross Over?

Qin Luming finally understood why Zuozuo and Caicai had always said they could not talk too much about their lives in the other world. Certain forces in that other world might learn of their whereabouts and bring danger upon them.

What they feared were probably the rulers of the Divine Kingdom represented by Fairy Jiang, weren't they? After all, Zuozuo and Caicai had no loyalty whatsoever to the Divine Kingdom. They even cared more about the tribes they led. On the battlefield, while everyone else fought to the death, they had simply run away.

A small group's rebellion, defection, or flight could often trigger a massive rout on the battlefield. As legion commanders, Zuozuo and Caicai had fled at a critical moment. They understood the gravity of it themselves, so after returning to Qin Luming's side, they never mentioned it again, lest divine particle fluctuations arise between the two worlds. If Fairy Jiang detected such fluctuations, it certainly would not be a trivial matter.

Well, now the main damage dealer and supreme commander from that battlefield had run into the little legion commanders who had fled.

"The war was won in the end, right?" Qin Luming held the two deserters close, putting on a concerned expression to show his apology.

The Divine Kingdom could still come under attack. It seemed its existence was not quite like some paradise, heavenly realm, or land of bliss... Then again, demons and fallen angels attacked Heaven too, and Sun Wukong had once wreaked havoc in the Heavenly Palace.

When Fairy Jiang descended, she had also mentioned some of the attacks the Divine Kingdom would face.

"That was the first war I faced after reclaiming my position as God King. How could I possibly have lost? Even without the Pure Grace Divine Bow and without the Primordial Divine Particle Orb, the enemy had fewer than a hundred top-tier experts. After I slew them, the remaining enemy troops were nothing but rabble." Fairy Jiang spoke with a touch of pride.

"It's good that you won... As for Zuozuo and Caicai, let it go. They have no sense of belonging to the Divine Kingdom. Besides, they were still young. They were already scared out of their wits when they arrived on the battlefield." Qin Luming pleaded on behalf of Zuozuo and Caicai. As an ordinary person who had lived a comfortable life, he was most grateful for a peaceful environment and instinctively repelled by war. Just imagining the two girls running for their lives through such a bloody, brutal battlefield made his heart ache.

"No problem." Qin Luming hurriedly agreed. Since they were going to eliminate the Kingdom of Zhou's stronghold here, that meant he could personally take the field without making Zuozuo and Caicai face danger directly. "What is that thing?" Zuozuo asked.

Fairy Jiang watched Zuozuo and Caicai's baffling conversation, then shifted her gaze to Qin Luming's face. "Why did such a peculiar crossing phenomenon occur? Every crossing between worlds occurs because divine particle fluctuations had arisen beforehand. Had you ever heard of the Divine Kingdom? As she spoke, Fairy Jiang looked at Qin Luming's hands, then at Zuozuo and Caicai. "You must have touched some life-form or object from the Divine Kingdom."

Qin Luming thought carefully. Many strange things had happened around him, but this was the first time he had personally become involved in an incident caused by powerful people from another world, such as Fairy Jiang and Zhou Nan, descending into this world.

He shook his head. "I have no memory of anything like that, and I can't judge it either. Even if someone like you came from the Divine Kingdom, or if there were an object from the Divine Kingdom, I probably wouldn't be able to tell."

As for people who could have a powerful influence on Qin Luming, there were only his mother and sister, along with a few uncles, elders, and other relatives and friends. They were all ordinary people. What could they possibly have to do with the Divine Kingdom?

"If you say that, this woman won't think we're amazing anymore!" Zuozuo said angrily. "If she thinks we're not amazing, maybe she'll bully us later."

"Then you should have told me secretly. Now that you've said it out loud, she won't believe you even if you brag again later," Caicai said regretfully.

"I will never think you're amazing." Fairy Jiang looked at Zuozuo and Caicai with regret. "When the war began, I merely followed convention and conscripted tribes with divine experts to join the battle. Later, when I investigated the records, I remembered that beginning with the previous King of Passionate Love, your tribe had never been conscripted in any war."

"Why? Was it because we're too amazing, and once we joined the war, there would be no suspense at all?" Zuozuo wore a thoughtful expression.

"Why are you bragging again? We ran away every time we fought!" Caicai reminded her.

Zuozuo could only glare furiously at Caicai. Why had she said it again?!

Qin Luming smiled. No matter what, he simply found Zuozuo and Caicai adorable.

"The one undergoing the crossing and the target being crossed into must share something in common for a crossing phenomenon to occur. You crossed over and were born from the fruit of the Bishou Tribe's divine maiden tree because you shared common traits with the Bishou Tribe! You are equally afraid of death, timid and weak, shortsighted, narrow-minded. You have never understood that when the nest is overturned, no egg remains intact." Fairy Jiang grew angry just looking at the two of them.

"Wasn't it because the two of them are left and right hands, while the Bishou Tribe worships a pair of hands?" Qin Luming thought that was the real reason. Zuozuo and Caicai were just young and immature, so of course they were not very brave. It was only natural for them to be afraid. Only a God King like her, who had lived for who knew how many thousands or tens of thousands of years, been reborn, and still claimed to be just a little girl, could be naturally fearless.
