Background / History

Talula led an Infected guerrilla settlement in northern Ursus before Reunion formally adopted its name. She found Orson amid a ruined village surrounded by corpses, initially restraining and interrogating him over the deaths there. His rejection of discrimination against the Infected led her to consider what place he might have within her forces. 2 4

Her closest companion was@@REF_ENTITY_3597671@@, whom Talula calls both the beginning of her partisan movement and its equally important co-initiator. Talula believed@@REF_ENTITY_3597671@@’s presence could prevent the curse of Koschei—the “Dissonance” embedded in her soul—from consuming her. 10

The curse continually eroded Talula’s will, driving her toward self-doubt and the fear that her ideals would fail. She initially refused to explain the Dissonance to Orson, but later accepted his help in confronting Koschei through Soul Tuning. 6 10 17

After Orson restored@@REF_ENTITY_3597671@@’s consciousness, Talula publicly revealed herself as Koschei’s noble daughter. Rather than conceal her lineage, she declared that she would not lose her way or succumb to corruption, then committed her guerrillas to uniting northern villages and advancing south. 12 13

Appearance

Talula is a silver-white-haired young woman with black pupils and two prominent horns. She usually wears a sharp noble military uniform and carries a greatsword at her waist; when embarrassed, the bases of her horns visibly redden. 2 8 12 13

Personality

Talula is deeply committed to the Infected, treating them as equals rather than subordinates. When several Infected lose faith in her promises and choose to leave the settlement, she accepts their decision, apologizes for failing to fulfill her promises, and reminds them that they retain the right to speak for themselves. 8

She avoids unnecessary killing because she believes violence can become an inseparable dependency. While she will fight to protect Reunion, she considers killing ordinary people whose deaths could be avoided a betrayal of her original intentions. 10

As Reunion expands, Talula becomes increasingly capable of using noble status, intimidation, and political maneuvering to secure support. These methods exhaust her and conflict with her idealistic self-image, but she accepts them when she believes they are necessary to protect the Infected and advance Reunion’s goals. 13 14 35 36

Away from leadership, Talula is awkward, domesticly inexperienced, and easily flustered. She struggles with cooking, initially uses a block of ice as fishing bait, privately attempts knitting, and becomes intensely embarrassed when others notice her efforts. 5 6 8
