Qi Ming: "No, it's just a hunch."

Mamoru Shirogane: "You mean, based on a mere guess, you're afraid of getting hurt in battle and unwilling to give it your all?"

Qi Ming thought to himself that Shirogane wouldn't understand unless he got straight to the point:

"That's right. I must return home alive. My strength is needed there."

"To me, the lives of everyone else in this world combined aren't as important as my own. Do you understand now?"

Shirogane's expression changed: "You're too extreme!"

Qi Ming walked forward and patted the hood of the Jeep:

"Also, I fight to be true to my own conscience, not to satisfy you."

"Save all that other stuff."

With that, Qi Ming slammed his palm down, denting the hood significantly. Then, under Shirogane's stunned gaze, he left without looking back.

"What a waste of a trip." On the way home, Qi Ming's expression was grim.

Powerful enemies surrounded them externally, and internally, there was deceit and treachery. Interacting with Captain Shirogane was either met with pressure or like talking to a brick wall.

If this keeps up, maybe he should just take one of the "back routes" he'd found earlier.

Hadn't he just walked this way? Why was there no one else around besides him?

When Qi Ming snapped back to reality, he realized he seemed to have encountered a Ghost Wall, having circled the same spot several times.

Just then, a deep voice accompanied by a chilling wind came from behind him: "Are you starting to feel disappointed with this world?"

Qi Ming spun around abruptly. The colossal figure that appeared before him made his pupils contract.

A black and red body, rib-like exoskeleton, black eyes, and a Color Timer.

Just as he suspected, something was indeed watching him from the darkness.

This guy is—Dark Mephisto!
