Background

Tregear grew up alongside Ultraman Taro in his original timeline. They studied and adventured together before taking the Space Garrison examination; Taro passed, while Tregear was rejected because of the physical disadvantages associated with the Blue Tribe. He instead entered the Intergalactic Science and Technology Bureau under Ultraman Hikari. 298

His faith in the Land of Light began to erode after Hikari disappeared and re-emerged on Planet Abora as Hunter Knight Tsurugi, driven by vengeance against Bogar. Hikari's fall convinced Tregear that even revered Ultramen could turn their strength toward destructive ends. 298

When Tregear encounters Kai/Orb in a universe where the Land of Light has fallen, he openly questions whether Ultramen have any right to judge light, darkness, good, and evil. Orb urges him to seek answers from Hikari and Qi Ming rather than remain trapped in his doubts. 298

Arrival on Earth and the Land of Light Crisis

Tregear arrives at the TPC Sea Base from a parallel universe after Orb sends him to find Qi Ming. He reports that Belial stole the plasma core of the Land of Light, freezing the Space Garrison and leaving its survivors close to extinction. 307

After the immediate crisis, Qi Ming asks Tregear to remain nearby rather than return to the Land of Light. Qi Ming believes that Tregear's insecurity and excessive contemplation could otherwise lead him down Dark Tregear's path. 321

He publicly reveals himself as the real Ultraman Tregear, denounces the Pope's use of his name, and declares that no “Tregear God” has ever blessed the planet. Defeat of Dark Tregear

Qi Ming helps Tregear destroy the idols and return the souls trapped within them. He then merges with Tregear and transforms into Taro, allowing Tregear to wield Super Taro and confront Dark Tregear directly. 454

Tregear defeats Dark Tregear with the Cosmic Miracle Ray, proving to himself that his bonds with Taro, Qi Ming, and the Ultra Brothers are stronger than the darkness his counterpart embraces.
