Background

Zhu Zhuqing was born as the second young lady of the Zhu family of the Star Luo Empire. Her family inherited the Netherworld Spirit Cat, a Martial Soul valued chiefly for its stable fusion with the Star Luo royal family's Evil Eye White Tiger. This connection made arranged marriages between the Zhu and Dai families customary. Zhu Zhuqing was engaged from childhood to Dai Mubai, the empire's second prince. 68

Initially resigned to the fate attached to her engagement, she nevertheless trained relentlessly and privately wished for power sufficient to overcome it. Her diligence exceeded her natural talent; before her later evolution, her Netherworld Spirit Cat was considered a high-level Martial Soul whose greatest distinction was its potential fusion skill with the Evil Eye White Tiger. 68 77

After a prior conflict between Shrek Academy and Ming Lunyu's group, Zhu Zhuqing personally apologized to Ming Lunyu. Drawn by his strength and seeking a means to change her destiny, she asked him why he was so powerful. Ming Lunyu gave Zhu Zhuqing a jade pendant that would grant her access to him at Sunset Advanced Spirit Master Academy. When she arrived, Dugu Bo subjected her to a grueling pursuit through Sunset Forest, testing her speed, endurance, and determination. 69 88

Despite injuries, depleted soul power, and repeated attacks from Soul Beasts, Zhu Zhuqing refused to give up. Her determination to change her fate drove her to break through her bottleneck in battle, earning Dugu Bo's acknowledgment and access to the Ice and Fire Twofold Polarity Eyes. 88 89

Martial Soul Evolution

Ming Lunyu provided Zhu Zhuqing with the Nether King Incense, Shadow Grass, Impermanent Sunflower, Heavenly Forging Metal—Tomb of Light, and the Heavenly Evolution Yin-Yang Art. She chose to remain and cultivate with these resources. 90 91

Under Ming Lunyu's guidance, the combined power of the herbs and Tomb of Light transformed her Netherworld Spirit Cat into the Nethersteel Night Hunter, a Super Martial Soul. The evolution raised her soul power beyond level 40 and gave her an arsenal of shadow-based abilities. 92

Leaving Shrek Academy

Upon returning to Shrek, Zhu Zhuqing concealed the source of her Martial Soul evolution by claiming she had purchased and consumed a nearly withered herb. Her transformed aura and new Martial Soul nevertheless drew attention from her former teammates. 102

Learning that Dai Mubai had again abandoned cultivation and returned to indulgence, Zhu Zhuqing tried to persuade him to confront their shared fate. Dai Mubai refused, claiming he had accepted his destiny. Zhu Zhuqing subsequently left Shrek Academy, leaving behind a letter and money. 102

Joining Sunset Academy

Ming Lunyu promised Zhu Zhuqing protection from both the Zhu family and the Star Luo royal family. She accepted his pursuit and joined his team, where Dugu Bo presented her with an eighty-thousand-year Purple Lightning Mysterious Turtle Left Leg Bone. 103
