Background

Yang Wudi was the patriarch of the Breaking Clan, one of the four single-attribute clans formerly affiliated with the Clear Sky Sect. After the Clear Sky Sect sealed its mountain, the four clans became independent; the Breaking Clan later endured repeated relocations and pressure from Spirit Hall. 36 41

Before meeting Ming Lunyu, Yang Wudi was a Rank 89 Soul Douluo whose clan was in financial distress. Earl Xiri fabricated charges against the Breaking Clan and demanded fifty thousand gold soul coins, leaving Yang unable to solve the crisis through personal strength alone. 41

Dugu Bo recommended Yang to Ming Lunyu as a powerful, principled candidate for recruitment. Yang's reputation as a straightforward martial devotee, medicine refiner, and exceptionally dangerous spear wielder made him a priority target for Ming's expanding faction. 36 40

Recruitment of the Breaking Clan

Ming Lunyu's group visited Yang Wudi after learning of Earl Xiri's pressure on the Breaking Clan. Yang first fought Dugu Bo and remained wary of the visitors, but became receptive after witnessing Dugu's nine soul rings and hearing Ming's offer of protection, resources, and access to the Ice and Fire Twofold Polarity Eyes. 41 42

Yang accepted Ming Lunyu's contract immediately. The contract transformed her into a young woman, elevated her to Rank 90, and evolved her Martial Soul into the God Slaying Spear. She then announced her allegiance to the entire Breaking Clan, which followed her under Ming's banner. 43

Resettlement in Sunset City

Yang led the Breaking Clan's swift migration to Sunset City. With financial support and protection from Ming Lunyu's faction, the clan established a new base and focused on medicinal products and mercenary work. 44

Titan Giant Ape Hunt

After reaching Rank 90, Yang deliberately delayed obtaining a ninth ring until a suitable Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast could be found. She chose the Titan Giant Ape for its expected offensive compatibility and insisted on facing it alone to prove that the Breaking Clan could stand without the Clear Sky Sect. 51 59

She successfully absorbed the Titan Giant Ape's Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and acquired its right arm bone, gaining two ninth Soul Skills and the Gravity Domain. 63
