0079 - Gundam RX-78 Series

After Nami's investigation, it was confirmed that there were indeed three Gundam RX-78 units, and all three had the same performance. The mobile suit had no special features other than its armor.

The Core Fighter was both an advantage and a disadvantage: the unit was easy to repair, and escape was an advantage; it reduced armor thickness, and fuel capacity was a disadvantage.

For power, the ultra-compact thermonuclear reactor produced Minovsky Particles, which could interfere with communications. Mature products could also be used to generate I-Fields.

Through Nami, I found a Gundam weapon and equipment researcher. He's single with no parents.

His height and build are similar, and his blood type is the same. His name is Stark Nii.

Under Nami's guidance, Thor Klune took advantage of Stark Nii's absence to stake out his home beforehand.

When Stark Nii returned home that evening, Thor Klune knocked him out with a stun gun.

Then, he had Nami assimilate and absorb Stark Nii's memories and knowledge. It turned out to be scientific knowledge related to Mobile Suits and beam weapon manufacturing.

He even participated in the manufacturing of the RX-78 Gundam. Thor Klune didn't expect to hit the jackpot.

He then made Stark Nii disappear. After all, he might not survive later anyway.

Why not make proper use of his identity? Thor disguised himself as Stark Nii.

He infiltrated the research institute under the guise of a tour, learning about the principles of Gundams and beam weapons, and got early access to three Gundams.

At the same time, he met the designer of the RX-78 Gundam, Earth Federation construction engineer Tim Ray (Amuro Ray's father).

Thor Klune found an opportunity and presented Tim Ray with the external armament additions for the RX-78 Gundam, along with some design blueprints, for his review.

He received Tim Ray's approval, and incidentally designed the few external armaments that the RX-78 Gundam originally had.

And he independently created a FA-78-3 High Performance Form.

(Additional armor was added to the chest and feet, along with thruster ports. The back armor also incorporated thrusters similar to those on the Taurus in Gundam Wing.)

As a result, the design blueprints for these three Gundam external armaments received strong support from Tim Ray.

Thor Klune's conceptual designs for Gundam external armaments were implemented within two months. Simultaneously, a fourth unit was inexplicably built.

Its performance was also slightly better than the original three units. The core fighter system was removed, making the internal frame structure more robust.

Unit 1 would remain as the prototype display unit without equipment changes. Unit 2 would be equipped with the Full Armor FA-78 form.

Unit 3 would have the Full Armed FA-78 Thunderbolt form, and Unit 4 the High Performance form.

Thor Klune couldn't understand the mentality of these scientists. He originally wanted all three units to be armed, and perhaps give a high-performance unit to his son for Unit 2.

But they insisted on having a prototype display unit. Oh well, it worked out for me. I can get another Gundam as a collector's item.
