Seeing Ye Xiaoyao Again
"Half a month from now, I'll be traveling with the Floating Sky Vessel. I'll be gone for three or four months—shouldn't I prepare something?" Xu Fan stroked his chin. A complete plan had already taken shape in his mind.
"Before I leave, I should finish refining the magic artifacts for my two disciples. If I end up gone for half a year, that'll be trouble."
That evening, after Xu Yuexian brought out the last dish, dinner began.
"Xu Gang, Yuexian, I'll be going on a long journey in half a month. I expect to be gone for four months."
"If you need anything, remember to tell me in advance," Xu Fan said to the siblings.
"Master, can we go with you?" Xu Yuexian asked reluctantly, her adorable little face creased in a frown.
"Yeah, then we can take care of Master's daily needs," Xu Gang said, equally reluctant.
Ever since the siblings had learned to manipulate objects with spiritual power two years ago, they had taken over nearly all the household chores.
Serving tea and pouring water, washing clothes and cooking meals, kneading shoulders and giving massages.
Xu Fan had gotten an early taste of the happy retired life of having both a son and a daughter.
"I can't help it. This time, I can only go alone," Xu Fan said with a shrug. If he had extra spots, he wanted to take the siblings along to broaden their horizons too.
Looking at the siblings' faces full of reluctance, Xu Fan patted their heads. "You've both grown up. You can take care of yourselves now."
"Besides, Master will only be gone for a few months. It'll pass in the blink of an eye. When I come back, I'll bring you gifts," Xu Fan consoled them, suddenly feeling a little reluctant himself.
"Then Master, you have to come back early," Xu Yuexian said, her large eyes shimmering with tears as she looked at Xu Fan.
"Alright."
Five days later, Xu Fan summoned Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian over, holding two magic artifacts.
"Xu Gang, No. 234 in the Treasure Repository is your Spiritual Power Armor. Remember to take it with you whenever you leave the Sect."
"Yuexian, yours is the same. Yours is No. 235."
As he spoke, Xu Fan handed a spirit pearl to Xu Gang.
"This magic artifact is called the Spirit Storage Pearl. It's an add-on Master refined for you—oh, no, a second Dantian."
"The spiritual power inside the Spirit Storage Pearl is roughly ten times your own. You just need to channel spiritual power into it regularly."
After speaking, Xu Fan took out a short sword and handed it to Xu Yuexian.
"Yuexian, this is the Metal-type Armor-Breaking Golden Sword. Against anyone below the Nascent Soul Stage, as long as you have the ability to get close, it can break their armor."
Compared to the Spirit Storage Pearl, this Armor-Breaking Sword had cost Xu Fan a great deal of effort and resources. He discovered that sometimes, the simpler something was, the harder it was to refine it brilliantly.
"Thank you, Master." Xu Yuexian accepted the Armor-Breaking Golden Sword with emotion. As a Cultivator at Qi Refining Level Four, she understood what this sword represented.
"Why thank me? Master supports you now, but later, you'll have to take care of Master," Xu Fan said with a smile.
Xu Gang and Xu Yuexian said nothing. They simply gave Xu Fan a deep bow.
Fifteen days later, it was time for Xu Fan to board the vessel.
He gave each of his two disciples a string of Five Elements Spirit Beads.
Looking at his weeping disciples, Xu Fan felt like an Old Father leaving home.
"Alright, you're already this grown up. Why are you crying? Don't let others laugh at you," Xu Fan said. Pang Fu had also come to see him off.
"I just can't bear to part with Master." The siblings truly could not bear to see Xu Fan leave.
"It's not life and death. I'll be back in four months. Don't be sad."
Time was running short. Xu Fan did not linger any longer and flew directly toward the Inner Sect in the sky.
"Senior Brother Pang, I'll have to trouble you to look after my two disciples," Xu Fan transmitted.
"Rest assured. If Master Xu's disciples suffer even the slightest mishap, hold me accountable," Pang Fu replied.
Xu Fan gave his two disciples one last look before turning and flying into the sky.
Murong Qian'er had wanted to bring the child to see him off as well, but Xu Fan stopped her. She only needed to stay home and focus on nursing the baby.
In the sky, Xu Fan followed the other disciples who regularly entered the Inner Sect and flew into the largest white cloud overhead.
After entering the cloud, Xu Fan saw the towering Giant Gate, as well as the two Flood Dragons at its entrance soliciting customers.
"Ride a dragon once for 8,000 Spirit Stones, and get an Image-Recording Stone free! A rare opportunity, a rare opportunity indeed!!"
Amid dragon roars, thunderous cries rang out one after another.
"Young disciple, first time in the Inner Sect, right?"
"They say that if you ride a Flood Dragon, you'll receive a Great Opportunity."
A Flood Dragon blocked Xu Fan just as he was about to enter the Giant Gate.
Xu Fan looked at the enormous Dragon Tail blocking his way, then raised his head at the Flood Dragon in confusion. "Senior, though I truly want to support your business, I don't have that many Spirit Stones."
Xu Fan performed the expression of someone both yearning for it and too poor to afford it to perfection.
Only an idiot would spend 8,000 Spirit Stones to ride you. You've been controlled for so long that even your morals are gone.
The Flood Dragon released Xu Fan with a disappointed look and began searching for its next customer. Business had been getting worse and worse lately. Perhaps it should develop some new ventures.
After showing his Floating Sky Vessel passenger Token to the Giant Gate guards, Xu Fan safely entered the Inner Sect. The moment he looked up, he saw the enormous Floating Sky Vessel suspended in mid-air.
The Giant Boat stretched across the sky like a continent floating in the air.
"One day, I'll refine a Giant Treasure Ship like this," Xu Fan declared as he gazed at the Floating Sky Vessel, his ambition soaring. His ultimate goal was to create a Spaceship capable of flying beyond the Great Thousand Worlds.
With excitement in his heart, Xu Fan boarded the Floating Sky Vessel he had long dreamed of.
Just then, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice rang out.
The moment he heard that voice, Xu Fan fell from heaven straight into hell.
"Junior Brother Xu, long time no see. You moved and didn't even tell me," Ye Xiaoyao said delightedly upon seeing Xu Fan. Having implicated Xu Fan last time, he had always felt a trace of guilt. Seeing Xu Fan again felt as easy and welcome as seeing family.
"I should call you Senior Ye now. I didn't expect Senior Ye to advance to the Golden Core Stage so quickly."
A thousand grass-mud horses were trampling through Xu Fan's heart right now. Nothing good ever came from running into this guy.
Ye Xiaoyao threw an arm around Xu Fan's shoulders and said happily, "What Senior this and Senior that? We're brothers, don't be so distant."
Xu Fan had only one thought now: find a chance to get off the ship. He absolutely had to find a chance to get off the ship.
Ye Xiaoyao directly brought Xu Fan over to the Patrol Captain of the Floating Sky Vessel.
"Eldest, this is my brother. He has a passenger Token."
"Can you arrange a better room for him?" Ye Xiaoyao asked the Cultivator clad in blood-red Battle Armor.
Xu Fan handed his Token to the Patrol Captain.
"That's easy. There's an empty room next to yours. Let your brother stay there."
After examining Xu Fan's Token, the Patrol Captain directly inscribed a Rune into it before returning it to Xu Fan.
"Thank you, Eldest," Ye Xiaoyao said with satisfaction.
Then he hooked an arm around Xu Fan and led him elsewhere.
"Junior Brother Xu, I'll show you around the Floating Sky Vessel."
"Tonight, the Floating Sky Vessel will set off. Spiritual Food will be provided then, so we'll have a good drink together."
Damn it, I can't get away, Xu Fan cursed inwardly.
